My best friend and I were disappointed at the host for this VRBO. When we arrived the beds had just the comforters in them and no sheets. We messaged the owner/host who apologized and removed the laundry in the laundry room, cleaned the bedding, and returned the basket of clean linens with a gift card to our doorstep. While I appreciate the gift card, I would have liked my bed made.
The owner had a nice fenced in yard that our dogs were not allowed to play ball in as they had to remain on our leashes. We were allowed a smaller fenced in area for our dogs to relieve themselves, but not much else could happen in this small space. Disappointing as my first message before booking said my terminal cancer friend and I were looking for a place our pups would be welcome.
We slept on very comfortable beds and headed to a breakfast restaurant suggested by the owner, but it smelled like cat urine, so we went elsewhere. Our dogs were kenneled, and we did not receive any negative information about them while gone. We came back after breakfast and took the dogs on the Appalachian trail. We had a nice hike of six miles with the dogs. Great location! When we returned at 8 pm, we kenneled the dogs and went to dinner. I received a message that my dogs were "going crazy", so I apologized and returned after fifty minutes. The dogs appeared fine.
The next day, the dogs were kenneled for as we went ziplining, and we did not receive any messages that they were loud. We had lunch and then returned to take the dogs kayaking for two hours. We came back for an hour, got ready for dinner, kenneled the dogs, and were accosted on the front lawn, yelled at, and told our dogs were "epileptic". The host was rude and treated us fifty year old women like children. The air conditioner was right above the entrance and muffled all sounds, so when we were asked, "Don't you hear them?" in reference to the dogs, we were offended. We, in fact, could not hear them. Our host asked if he was even allowed to live in his own house. (I think he has never kenneled a dog for an hour to step out to get food.) Our puppy and two year old dog did whine, which is typical of two dogs in a new place reacting to the owners dogs above and to the new environment. He was so rude, even accusing me of not telling him on the VRBO application that we were bringing dogs. However, the very first message I sent him was in specific reference to "pups". The owner came first, not us vacationers. 👎👎
