On cool evenings, you can retreat to the living room and enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning stove. There are many excursion destinations in the surrounding area, such as the Viking castle Trelleborg, Slagelse and Stillinge beach, which is lively in summer. There is a large barracks in Slagelse, so on Wednesdays you can see the Guards riding through the town. If you take a trip to the other side of the Great Belt, you can visit Egeskov Castle on Funen or Legoland in Billund. You can go fishing on the coast in the neighbourhood of the house. You can also visit the Reersø peninsula, which is a protected landscape and is home to the famous tailless cats. Also worth a visit is Birkegårdens Haver, a 10,000 m² adventure park with animals, games, the Kragerup estate, football pitches, a treetop walk and canoeing in the moat.
