SolasTobann Room 1 En-suite Malin Head

Audrey is delighted to welcome you to Irelands Most Northerly home and ArtHouse Gallery situated in spectacular scenery and 2 minutes from the mighty wild Atlantic sea. Our house is spacious and light-filled hence the name Solas Tobann (Sudden Light) We maintain stringent cleaning standards by following strict enhanced cleaning protocols. Most of what is on display throughout the house is available for guests to purchase, and connoisseurs and collectors interested in contemporary art. We are close to the sea beneath Banbas Crown in spectacular tranquil rural landscape. Travel a few minutes in any direction to beautiful sandy beaches for open water swimming or beach walking. In Summer enjoy beautiful sunsets in the evenings and the late night clear starry night skies and much more!
Our modern house is built in the old style in two sections and set up for guests to use the main dining/sitting area mainly separate from that of your host. As guest rooms are en-suite we reserve the main bathroom for our own use in light of the Covid situation.
Your Full Irish cooked breakfast is served during Autumn/ Winter/Spring months and lighter cooked breakfast is served in Summer months between 8am and 10am or earlier if required. Breakfast is made up of locally sourced produce as is available or in season. We will cater to your dietary requirements to the best of our ability (celiac, lactose and gluten intolerant)
Our 'air to water' heating system ensures the house remains at a comfortable temperature at all times. Our water is harvested and certified potable. Shower water temperature is around 50 degrees. Towels, loo paper and single use personal hygiene products are provided. Disclaimer: If you are prone to allergies please avoid using products you dont usually use. With all due respect use these products at your own risk. Beds are very comfortable and dressed in 100% pure Egyptian cotton and 'artisan' crochet throws. Heavier cotton quilted throw blankets are available if needed. House socks are provided for your comfort indoors as we remove our shoes at the door. We will take care of laundry for a small fee for 'long stay' guests. We have a sheltered dining pod outside for 'al fresco' breakfast or just relaxing in the evening. Can’t wait to return to this perfect getaway!
I cannot say enough good things about the property, my stay, the food, and Audrey and Philip. They were both so welcoming and kind, not to mention they’re excellent conversationalists! I spent hours chatting with Audrey about all sorts of topics and actually ended up checking out late because the three of us were having such a good talk. Audrey welcomed me when I arrived and helped me carry my things in. Once I was settled she was there to gather my food preferences and times for breakfast. She was extremely flexible in her breakfast options as well as when she’d make it for me. The food was delicious and I can honestly say I’m sad to have only eaten her breakfast twice. The house is eclectic and an excellent place to visit for art lovers. While there, I was able to purchase cards made by a local artist as well as one of Audrey’s pieces, all from the comfort of the home. The location was the perfect getaway from the city noise. I believe it is the farthest North BnB in Ireland, and it’s a quick two minutes drive (if that!) to the tip of the island. I had an excellent time and I hope to return sooner rather than later.

Audrey and Phillip were excellent hosts and the accommodation was perfect. They had so many wonderful suggestions for places to see, and Audrey cooked a delicious breakfast! The location of the B&B at the very tip of Malin Head is incredible, too. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Just Perfect!
The home is beautiful and immaculate, yet very very comfortable! The hosts Audrey and Phillip are delightful, generous, personable, and very respectful of us. We’ve traveled to Ireland 5 times, but this stay was top of our list!

Myself Audrey & my husband Philip are both qualified artists. We adore our beautiful Inishowen Penninsula and living near the sea in spectacular MalinHead. We have both traveled and lived abroad and we're so privileged to be back in our beautiful little corner of the world. We are situated at Irelands most Northerly point - No 1 on the Wild Atlantic Way scenic route! You will be staying at Irelands most Northerly B&B and ArtHouse. How cool is that!!!

Why they chose this property

Our property is unique in that we show our artworks around the house. On the walls of the rooms and hallway you will see paintings mainly in oil and mixed media by Irish artist Philip McFadden. His sculptures in bronze and 'found objects' are also situated around the house. There is a feeling of being immersed in Art when you are here. Some artworks by other artists from our private art collection are also on display. You will find a sculpture garden outside which is a work in progress - a project conceived by Philip and already garnering the interest of travel bloggers and tourists alike. He also has 'green fingers' and the garden is his domain and thriving. If you like to collect original art or a piece catches your eye most of the art works are available to buy however you are under no obligation - enjoy! Speak to Audrey or Philip about prices.

What makes this property unique

Summer in MalinHead is awesome! We have boating activities, dolphin and seal watching and basking sharks. The near extinct corncrake bird nests here, many other birds can be seen - Barnacle Brent geese, swans, cormorants, hawks, various finches and robins - over 40 bird spevies actually. You can take a boat trip to Inishtrahull Island - now a bird sanctuary - to see the lighthouse and old ruins of homes that were once occupied by families who now reside on the mainland, and large numbers of seals will appear to welcome you as the boat docks. Not far from SolasTobann ArtHouse there's pony and alpaca trekking, We have a water park in the east of the peninsula in Moville and we are 50 minutes away from lovely Derry City. Our golf links are second to none. Ferry services operate in Summer months from Buncrana across Lough Swilly to Rathmullan, and Greencastle across Lough Foyle to Magilligan. Our local beaches are spectacular some of which have been designated 'blue flag' for excellent bathing water quality. The views from the old Napoleonic military tower are nothing short of breathtaking and theres a coastal pathway for relaxing walks with taking in the spectacular vistas of the wild Atlantic sea and Scotland in the distance. Come and discover MalinHead.and Inishowen for yourselves. You wont be disappointed!
