About this property

Architect's upscale home near HIstoric Downtown

We designed this home 10 years ago for family and visiting friends. Located 4 blocks from Sheridan's historic Main Street; 3 blocks from our enormous YMCA and its brand-new aquatic center; and directly across the street from one of the pedestrian entries to the lovely Kendrick Park along Big Goose Creek... the home is a quiet place located in the midst of the town's bustle yet with a view of the Big Horns!

The house is set well back from the street with a large attached two-car garage at the rear, and a private patio off the lower level on the east side. Most of our trees are fenced because the mule deer that live in the adjacent woods use the yard as a thoroughfare to the creek, eating what they like on the way. Pheasants, turkeys, and rabbits are also frequently seen.

Minimum rental period is relatively long because this is a place to settle into and enjoy; perhaps acting as a home base for exploring the many wonders of northern Wyoming.
High ceilings, original artwork , and quality finishes make the home particularly gracious.

Finishes include bamboo flooring in the living room, solid oak trim throughout, and custom-made copper bar and dining table.

Wonderful House with Amazing Location
Five stars across the board! My family stayed at this property for a month in June/July 2022. The house was exactly as described and as shown in the pictures. The house is very spacious and is in immaculate condition. The extra room downstairs served as a perfect office for me during my stay. The back patio is nice as it is shady in the afternoon and provides a perfect spot to relax. The master bedroom is very large and spacious. The house is in a perfect location to walk to Kendrick Park (great ice cream cones at the ice cream stand at the park), the YMCA (incredible facility with wonderful indoor pool), the library (get a library card even if you're from out of town), and Main Street. Being able to walk to Main Street for a coffee, breakfast/lunch, or shopping was such a treat. Check out the local schedules as they have famers markets and other various events downtown where Main Street is closed to vehicular traffic and there are lots of arts and crafts, food vendors, and musicians. It's a fabulous scene and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Our family also took evening walks to see the bison and elk at the nature preserve. Renting the house was amazingly easy and Tim made sure our stay was comfortable. You can't beat Sheridan hospitability. We hope to return next year!

About the host

As the Architect for this property we are renting, I was interested in maintaining the quality inherent in my other Architectural designs in the Sheridan area including: the Brinton Museum; the YMCA Aquatic Center; the WYO Theater; the Sheridan Jr. High School (up the hill and across the street); the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library; the Sheridan Visitor's Center; recreating the historic facade of Frackelton's Restaurant; and many others.

Why they chose this property

When we acquired the vacant lot where our house now sits, we were looking for a place where we could walk to most of the attractions in downtown Sheridan; have a view of the Big Horn Mountains; have immediate access to Kendrick Park and the Sheridan pathway system; and be adjacent to a thickly forested where wildlife could flourish.

What makes this property unique

For the energy-conscious, it may be interesting to know that this home is highly energy-efficient: foundation walls are built with insulated forms; all the exterior walls and roof/ ceiling system are made of super-insulated SIPS panels... no wood studs to transmit heat! The heating/ AC system is a combination of electric heat pump and natural gas, and the direct southern orientation allows for good solar gain in the winter, with eaves sufficient to protect the windows from most sunlight in the summer.
