From the beautiful parks nearby to the stunning architecture of the house, this was by far the quaintest place I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. The hosts were so incredibly kind and friendly, really made us feel welcomed. The place had everything we could have possibly needed for our stay and more. Only wish we had was that we had booked it for longer!
We really enjoyed our time here! Loved the decor and the spaciousness. The ceiling angles might be difficult for tall people to navigate, particularly at the kitchen counter, but overall it is a great find.
Beautiful apartment for our girls trip. Clean and comfortable with all of the amenities of home and even some little extras that really made this property a step above others we have stayed in. Owners very easy to communicate with and very friendly! You won’t regret staying here.
The swede hollow property was perfect for our needs. We loved the look of the property and the ease of getting to it. The little reading nook in the bathroom were our favorite parts. Owners were super friendly and helpful.
We came to St. Paul to attend a lacrosse tournament and loved staying at this apartment! The place was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and close to many amenities. We are still in awe at the construction of the home with its beautiful ceiling lines and “nooks & crannies”. The entire home is beautiful and the neighborhood was quiet and quaint. The owners were great with communication and ease of check in/check out. We would recommend!
We absolutely loved our stay here! We came into town for a concert and stayed a few extra days to explore the area. The property was clean and very quiet. They had extras, such as coffee, tea, bottled water, and granola bars. There was a small kitchenette. We didn’t need to use it, but It had an oven and stove. We did use the coffee maker and refrigerator. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom was spacious. We were excited that there was a floor length mirror. Many excellent tv options. We would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful weekend in St. Paul staying in this lovely home! I could not recommend more. We were weary parents traveling for the first time with our infant and this oasis was the perfect calming environment she needed after a long day adventuring.
Everything from the garden to the bathroom was beautiful. The owners are wonderful people and if we find ourselves in Minnesota again we will definitely look to stay again!
Lovely little home located in East St. Paul. The attic of this historic home was converted into a 2 bed apartment. Just adjacent to the old Hamm's Brewery. 4th star given to location as it is a little difficult to maneuver a van in and out of the driveway/alleyway. But no harm, and everything worked great. Michel was a great host and hope to stay there again!
The historic house was a great place for my friend and I as we enjoyed a weekend trip including the UM Football game at the University of Minnesota.
The hosts were very attentive to our needs and gave good suggestions for restaurants, walks and St. Paul's Cathedral for Mass.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Be advised that you are on the third floor and need to be able to handle the stairs.
The Public Park across the street was a great place for early morning walks.
Overall, a very positive experience.
What an enjoyable gem! My parents and I came into the cities via Amtrak and found this was very convenient to the station with a quick ride. We loved the location being close to downtown attractions yet in a quiet, older neighborhood. Sure, expect some nuances in an older home and on the 3rd floor/attic. (low ceiling on one side of a bed, little nooks around, getting into the claw foot tub/shower carefully as a very petite senior, small kitchenette, etc). We found our stay was comfortable and happy with the thoughtful items for us guests. (snacks, bottled water, makeup face towels included within towels supplied, extra hygiene items within the bathroom mirror cabinet, books & pamphlets about the area’s history on the coffee table). Even having separate HVAC from the rest of the house so we could have complete control over the temperature in our unit was a great perk!We are very happy overall with our stay and hope to see the area again (like the large park across the street) when it’s warmer!
We really enjoyed our stay! And can confirm that this place is just comfortable and wonderful during the heat of the summer as it was during our stay during the coldest part of winter. It’s clean and comfortable and convenient, and we hope to stay there again.
We had so much fun at this rental. The third floor apartment was well appointed and super clean. My kids enjoyed the nook under the switches had, the living room was comfy and the two bedrooms were very cozy. The. Neighborhood is great, in walking distance of a great coffee shop, Swede Hollow. The owners are super nice, and onsite if needed. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in St. Paul!
Cool 3rd floor apartment in a historic home. Very comfortable and charming. I shirt walk to St. Paul brewing and other down town attractions. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and respectful. Highest ratings on an criteria and would definitely start here again!
Had a lovely time staying in this charming suite in Swede Hollow. It’s beautiful in person. The beds were so comfortable and the carpet was new. The property was very clean, we had great communication with the host, and the check out process was easy. I would absolutely stay there again.
This 3rd floor apartment was so cute and perfect place to stay in St. Paul Beats a hotel room any day! Will be returning anytime when I have to travel to the cities. Highly recommend!
Spotless, quiet, third floor 2 bed, 1 large bath w tub/shower apartment across from Swede Hollow Park and walk/bike trail system. Nice sitting area, large TV w streaming. Windows open for fresh air. Galley kitchen w sink, oven, full fridge, fully supplied. 7 min drive to Regions Hospital. 3 min drive to YMCA. Owner very nice and responsive. Neighborhood felt a bit sketchy but never had any problems even when needing to come/go after dark. I would definitely stay here again.

About the host

I have lived in this property and neighborhood for many years. Three years ago I married Gerry and with his handyman abilities and my love of historical architecture we set about remodeling our third floor attic space. We decided to open an Airbnb after 6 months of work because we like entertaining. I worked for 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Regions Hospital and he is a retired Electrician.
Why they chose this property
This has always been a hidden jewel of an area that wasn't well known. Recently there have been books published, documentaries, and bus tours highlighting the rich history of the area. This is one of the many Hamm's family homes in the area. Parts of the expansive brewery remain and can be viewed from the house. There is also an existing craft brewery in operation with entertainment.
What makes this property unique
We are located in the heart of downtown St. Paul about 1 mile from the Mississippi River. Directly across the street is Swede Hollow Park which is very picturesque with hiking and biking trails and historical features. Our area is quiet and located on a dead end street so no traffic to contend with. We are close to major routes and less than a mile from historic Indian Mounds Park with beautiful views of the city and river. Restaurants and venues nearby or you can jump on a Lyme scooter and ride to your destination.
