About this property

A small but charming home 2.5 blocks from Tawas Point State Park beaches/birding

If you enjoy boating, fishing, birdwatching, biking, or spending the day at the beach, this is the right property for you.

--Rent a pontoon boat, kayaks, motorboats, or jet skis at Jerry's Marina (a short walk from the property).
--Walk a few blocks to the 183-acre Tawas Point State Park with its historic lighthouse (1876), bird preserve, playgrounds, nature trail, and beaches (including a dog-friendly beach).
--From the end of the park's nature and birding trail (dogs and bikes are not permitted here) you can relax on the beach to watch the sun rise over Lake Huron or set over Tawas Bay.

The house itself has been lovingly cared for with beautiful woodwork everywhere--from the floors to the ceilings--set off by abundant natural light. Features include a tree-shaded fire pit, three-season room, upstairs family suite, two televisions, and well-furnished kitchen. Note that the property has no A/C, though it does have more than two-dozen windows and a half-dozen ceiling fans. One dog per family is welcome, but owners are asked to notify us in advance.

If you are interested in birdwatching, keep reading...

Michigan Audubon reports that Tawas Point "is well known for high concentrations of migrating warblers during the month of May. Species highlights have included Kirtland’s Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Golden-winged Warbler, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, White-crowned Sparrow, numerous raptors, shorebirds, and more. In 2019, 178 species were spotted" during the area's annual birding festival (in May).

Tawas Point State Park is also the westernmost stop on the Saginaw Bay Birding Trail, which covers 142 miles. According to the Saginaw Bay birding and birding trail website, "[t]he Saginaw Bay watershed is the largest contiguous freshwater coastal wetland system in the United States. This is a critical migratory stopover for over 250 bird species of which over 200 species remain to establish nesting territories in this habitat rich and diverse region."

Great place to relax with family
The location is great. It is a quick walk/bike ride down to the lighthouse/beach. Right across from Marina. 5 - 10 min from stores but it feels very secluded. Home is beautiful and super clean. There are bugs as to be expected but not too many. There is a small back yard with a fire pit. There is a ton of cabinet space. There is a kitchen and a kitchenette (in the master bedroom). The TV in master is neat as it rotates to be seen anywhere in the room. There is a 2nd bedroom and an office type area that can work as back up sleeping for kids. There are a lot of nooks and crannies here which we loved. Kids loved exploring it. The home felt like home right away. We already plan to rebook when we go back!

Celebrated our 50th
We had a great time staying here while we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our family. The new AC units were much appreciated. This was our second time here and would recommend it to anyone. Our grandkids loved biking to the beach, shopping at Ben Franklin, and seeing the Barbie movie at the Tawas theater.

Great rental, great location.
The house was clean, neat with plenty of room for four kids and our dog. It’s an unique layout/floor plan with lots of extra space. We enjoyed the house and property but really loved the location as it’s just outside Tawas Point State Park, within walking distance. We’ll be back.

Nice, clean property
Comfortable stay for a couple and our cousin. There is a lot to in the area. Close to the state park & 5 minutes from downtown. 2 full bathrooms and a laundry room was very nice.
