About this property

Private Oasis easy access to Acadia and Downtown

New Modern Home-Mountain views, hot tub. Walk to town, trails, and golf course.

Kebo Ridge House is uniquely situated in Bar Harbor’s newest private subdivision. Large windows offer expansive views of Cadillac Mountain, and bring the outdoors in.

Kebo Ridge House is located on the edge of town with a 10 minute walk to all downtown amenities. It is also situated alongside the golf course. On the ridge is one of the closest homes in Bar Harbor to Acadia. Trailheads to Cadillac and Dorr Mountains, the iconic Jesup Path Boardwalk, and the Park Loop Road are a short 5 minute walk. There are very few homes on the island that afford this direct access to both town and the park.

Kebo Ridge House is incredibly peaceful and private. As you enjoy the large 2 acre property, it’s easy to forget that the hustle and bustle of town is so close, just a short trip down the hill. *There is a small path on the side of the property that provides a walking shortcut to town.

The space:

Our home was inspired by modern Scandinavian and Nordic architecture and our travels to this region. The design focus was to bring the outdoors in. We kept the living spaces uncluttered, and bright. The house looks outward, and keeps those enjoying the house together in airy living spaces, or brings them outside to enjoy the modern patio and outdoor living features.

Upstairs main living area:

The upstairs main living area of the house features an open concept living space, with large windows that look over Cadillac and Dorr Mountain. The space is light, bright, modern and clean which highlights the beautiful view like a dynamic landscape photo.

There is a large couch and two chairs in the living room, and a dining table that seats six. Adjacent to the main living room, there is an office nook featuring a loveseat and stand up work space.

The modern kitchen is clean and efficient. It is outfitted with new quality appliances, including a Thermador fridge and Miele speed oven.

There are two bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom features double sliding doors that open up to the kitchen area, making it a great flex space for reading, studying, or playing. This bedroom features a pop up twin trundle that converts to full bed. The second bedroom features double closets and a king bed.

The main living space and both upstairs bedrooms share the main bathroom, which also includes a washer and dryer.

Lower level living space:

One enters the home on the lower level, and travels upstairs to the main living spaces. For this reason, the house may not be the best fit for people who have trouble climbing stairs or young children.

The entrance opens to a mud room perfect for shoes, coats, and gear. In keeping with Scandinavian traditions, we ask that you do you best to remove shoes before heading upstairs.

There is one bedroom on this level. The bedroom is a larger suite sized bedroom with screen doors that open up to the outdoor patio. It features a queen size bed and a trundle bed that cant be used as a sitting couch or two twin beds. This is the largest bedroom in the home. There is no bathroom on the lower level.

Outdoor space:

The outdoor space is designed for living. It features a large wrap around concrete patio with outdoor seating and a small fire ring. There is also an outdoor dining table for six. There is a sunny southern side facing the lawn and meadow and overlooking the mountains, and a shady north side featuring a Cedarworks Playset.

We will have a big green egg ceramic grill for guests to use. This will be appropriate for meats and items that would otherwise require a hood. The house oven is a European oven , so it is small.

Other Important Things of Note:

The house features radiant flooring, triple pane European windows, and two distinct sleeping spaces on each level. The house is small and efficient, but filled with great light filled spaces that bring the outdoors in. The house has central A/C provided by a heat pump.

About the owners:

We are longtime Bar Harbor residents. We use the park on a daily basis; running, hiking, biking and walking. The unique access to both town and trails that this spot provides was a combination we could not pass up. We love our neighborhood and community and are so happy to share both with you.

Bar Harbor/Acadia
Absolutely fantastic property. Hosts are responsive, and the house and property are clean and beautiful. Easy walk to downtown Bar Harbor and minutes from Acadia National Park. If you are up to it, you are close enough to just walk to the park. Because you are on the edge of town, the house is a great escape from the bustle of downtown.

Bar Harbor Perfection - Walk everywhere
We loved our stay in the private oasis. There were three of us on a girl's trip. We wanted to hike, sight see, cook, and hang out in a comfortable home. Desiree was a spectacular host. We had all things we needed and more. We walked into Bar Harbor most days and did several hikes, including the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. The home is special. Light-filled, clean, with high-end appliances (much nicer than my home)! We appreciated the special touches, like a welcome basket with local Maine goodies. The owners were extremely helpful - answering questions before we arrived and providing recommendations. We even got locked out at one point (our fault), and the owner came within 5 minutes to "save" us. I can't say enough wonderful things about this Bar Harbor rental.

July 4th vacation
Desiree was very responsive to questions about everything! Noticed we didn't have enough towels and they were brought over within the hour. Jacuzzi and thermostats were reset when we asked. Very walkable distance to town when parking was scarce and to trails. Coffee maker was outstanding. Biggest issue honestly was that there was only 1 bathroom for 5 people.

About the host

We are a local year round family who loves our island and community, and is so excited to share it with you.

When we are not rental hosts, you will find us teaching outdoor recreation, education, health, and coaching cross country at the local high school, and operating a local small business in Ellsworth, called Restaurant Barn. (Come check us out, we are across from Pat’s Pizza and have lots of fun cooking and eating equipment!)

We use the park everyday, for outdoor adventures big and small. Whether it is a hike up Dorr Mountain, a bike ride around Eagle Lake, or a kayak paddle on Long Pond.

We hope you enjoy the town and area as much as we do. There is so much to offer,; hiking, biking, kayaking, nature tours, dining, shopping, entertainment, and so much more!

Cheers!
Desiree and Jeremiah
