Many leisure facilities and a quiet location invite you to relax and unwind. We have our own swimming and rowing site, including fishing platform on a river that leads to our lake. The lake is a nature reserve with rare birds and many great-tasting fish. Other lakes are located in the area of undisturbed bay to a tourist beach with a volleyball net, mini-golf, kayak rentals and swimming pool (Mariestad Lake Vänern).
Directly at the house there are extensive wooded areas for walking and invite the mushrooming.
Within easy car distance, there are many worth seeing excursions. It is worth for hikers to visit the national park "Tiveden" - here find in unspoilt, impressive wild nature trails 3-30 km in length, with great milestones such as sandy beaches, huge natural cellars - formed of massive stone blocks, old places of worship and much more. Maps and information material is provided free on site in German available.
For cities friends a weekend getaway is to Stockholm. The capital of Sweden is accessible by car at a leisurely pace in 3 hours to reach and always worth a visit - even if I personally prefer the tranquility of nature in our home environment.
A compromise could be idyllic, typical Swedish town Mariestad be (15 min. Drive away). Here it can be shopping, enjoy a coffee, and various recreational activities are also not too short, as already mentioned above.
The island "Torsö", quite near Mariestad is also recommended. Be it for kayaking or rowing (myself am already often rowed to this island - really always a great experience!) or simply for walking and sniffing the flair of a fishing village.
Or you can use the free bicycles provided by us for a little bike ride along the famous "Göta Canal" or our Naturschutzsee around or even to the museum village "Odensaker"
Who typically enjoyed the biking, I recommend "Billingehus" in Skövde. There are some nice tracks of different difficulty levels. Mountain bikes, we can not provide, however.
In the summer especially interesting for the little ones: "Skara Sommarland" - Sweden's largest water park, 35 km away from our house. Here the visitors inclined slides are offered, ranging from the frugal driving up to the superfast Matt Racer. Or simply enjoying the summer in one of the many pools.
Overall, there really is a lot to take, even if inviting the peace in and around the house to relax and unwind.
