Upscale ocean front home & easy canal boat access to Gulf or Atlantic
THE ADVENTURER'S RETREAT - BIG PINE KEY BUNGALOW IS YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME WHERE YOU CAN RELAX AND ENJOY THE CENTRALIZED LOCATION TO ALL THE BEST ADVENTURES THE FLORIDA KEYS HAVE TO OFFER. ALL ROOMS HAVE AN OCEAN AND/OR CANAL VIEW!
-Location-
The Big Pine Key Bungalow is located on the East side of Big Pine Key. The living room and kitchen area opens up to three large sliding glass door windows giving an expansive view of the Bogie Chanel and No Name Key.
Within a 5 minute drive (or less), you get to nearly all the essential items on the island. The supermarket, WinnDixie, is a 5 minute drive and offers home deliveries of your groceries. You will also find many restaurants nearby as there are several in the same complex as the WinnDixie. Grabbing some drinks at the drive through liquor store, Coconuts, is always an interesting experience! Big Pine also has a Walgreens, CVS, ACE Hardware, UPS, and many fishing stores. Big Pine Key Park, is an oceanfront park less than a mile away offering many fun things from bocce ball courts, tennis court, basketball and handball courts, to a great skatepark and jungle gym for the little ones.
Big Pine Key is located in the heart of the Florida Keys, and is known for its endangered Key Deer. Key West is only 40 minutes away, and Marathon 20 minutes away. One of the best beaches in the Florida Keys is the beautiful Bahia Honda Beach and State Park, which is only 10 minutes away!
-Technology & Smart House-
If you like working remotely, look no further Digital Nomads! Find relaxation, comfort, and fast gigabit internet all from your Florida Keys ocean home away from home. We have a foldable desk with monitor and HDMI cables ready to connect to your computer (and a WiFi connected printer).
This home was thoughtfully and tastefully done to allow for maximum usability, storage, and cleanliness. With many smart home features, so you can easily control the blinds (we can program them for you to open at sunrise every day as the sunrises are spectacular!), lights, thermostat, and music all from the provided tablet or from your own smartphone.
-Bedrooms-
The beds are all high end Murphy beds with memory foam mattresses. This makes the rooms versatile so you can convert the room to use it as you wish during the day (office, workout room, etc.) and put the bed down to sleep in at night. Our back two bedrooms have comfortable Queen beds and the Master has a King bed. If needed, the living room sofas can convert into 1 Twin bed or 2 very small beds for someone shorter than 4.5 feet.
-Bathrooms-
There are two bathrooms both equipped with showers and bathtubs. The Master bathroom has a Whirlpool jet tub, so you can have an amazing bath! Also, the Master bathroom shower tower provides 5 different modes to enjoy your shower in several different ways (rain, soak, spray, etc.). Toilet paper, hand soap, and shampoo/shower gel are provided.
-Living Room and Kitchen-
Enjoy watching the sunrise from bed with a gourmet coffee or from the living room or the patio (our coffee maker makes great specialty coffees!). Be awed by natural phenomena such as iguanas roaming the grounds, Key Deer grazing, magnificent heat lightning storms at night, and much more. Unwind by drinking a cocktail and happy hour appetizers on the patio with breezy open ocean views of the Bogie Channel and No Name Key.
The living room and kitchen imbue tranquility with the peaceful views of the ocean. Watch as birds and boats cruise by, as well as the occasional manatee! With a Sonos surround sound system, you will be sure to enjoy your time here with high fidelity sound. Our kitchen is stocked with everything you need from cutlery to pots, blender, coffee maker, and more. Our Transformer Table can expand or shrink depending upon your needs (seating 1 to 10 people). The kitchen island can also be moved to suit your needs of this space, such as doing a sunrise group yoga session. This house is very flexible and allows for a lot of versatility!
We make it easy for you to just bring your suitcases (and toys like boats or wave runners!) so you can begin your vacation. The entire house is yours during your stay.
-Outdoors-
From the deck, enjoy the views and the warm tropical wind as you sit elevated 16' above the ground. Our patio table and chairs allow for 4 people to sit comfortably at the table with 4 foot stools that can be used for additional seating. The 3 burner Dyna-Glo grill will make grilling your latest catch enjoyable with your exceptional viewpoint of the canal and ocean.
Our 90’ seawall dock on our canal can likely support up to a 45' boat. Assuming a shallow draft and the mean low tide in front of the dredged channel is 3’, your boat should have no problem getting in or out! A neighbor in the canal has a 40' center console with 3 outboards and has no problem. You can view an interactive nautical chart here. Given our property setup, we have ample space for your boat trailers. Please let us know if you plan to bring more than one boat so we can confirm dimensions for trailer parking. We know many people down here say you need several boats when your in the Keys!
-Activities-
Whether you enjoy the beach, boating, fishing, sand bars, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, walking, jogging, scuba diving, snorkeling, kiteboarding or sightseeing, this location provides endless opportunities for adventure and leisure activities.
As listed above in our Amenities section, we provide you access to a number of activities so you don’t have to bring all these things with you. Such as snorkel gear, beach essentials, yoga mats, a kayak, and more!

IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
We met on Match.com and the rest is history (you can read our story here). Martina has traveled to over 60 countries and has lived abroad in many unique places. Kirk’s love of action sports and extreme hobbies has taken him to many unique places as well (and medical facilities).
Together, we create quite a duo. We both love to travel, do it cheaply, eat well, enjoy the moment, embrace the culture, experience the experientials, and live life to its fullest!
