The newly renovated Cameron House Retreat is nestled in the foothills of Northeast GA wine country, and sits at the base of Mt. Yonah, and butts up to the Chatahoochee National Forest, a short walk from our property.
This sprawling 5 bedroom, 4 full bath home is like no other in the area.
Our home is located halfway between famous Alpine Helen and historical Cleveland, just 1.5 miles off Hwy. 75, and only 90 minutes NE of Atlanta.
This area is quickly becoming known as THE premier spot for excellent wines, with more than a dozen local, highly rated wineries for enthusiasts to tour and taste!
Convenient to restaurants, boutiques, sports activities, nature trails with beautiful waterfalls, scenic drives and quaint towns, Cameron House Retreat is the ideal vacation spot for adults and children alike.
Kids can spend hours tubing down a lazy river, go miniature golfing, go carting, panning for gold, or enjoy a day at the water park, all minutes away!
Enjoy roasting marshmallows by a campfire down by a private shared lake, take a rowboat out for a little fishing, a pedal boat out for a little paddling, relax in our shaded pavilion, or just sit on the dock and take in the breath-taking million dollar views.
With wrap around porches, a hot tub, a large extended back deck, and a warm and cozy environment, our home is a stand-out. With many nooks and crannies, it is small enough to curl up in a favorite corner with a book, yet large enough to secure the privacy of up to 14 adults, and 3 infants!
Each area has it's own unique theme and personality. The main floor has a fully equipped farmhouse style eat-in kitchen, a den with a gas fireplace, 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a dining room, laundry room, and a large living room with a wood burning fireplace for chilly nights.
One flight up leads you to the master bedroom with vaulted ceilings and private terrace, another guest bedroom, and full bath, and a private wing that sleeps 6.
NEW! A 500 sq. ft. detached game room for playing poker, ping-pong, Foosball, pool, and air hockey while watching sports on a 60" flat screen TV! Room for little kids, (big kids too), to color and play board games.
Be prepared to be enchanted by our relaxing and secluded mountain retreat. And please don't think of it as going away, just think of it as coming home...

Great mountain stay!

Plenty of room for 6 adults and 6 kids to stay while playing in a baseball tournament at Yonah Preserve. Hot tub was great for the kids and adults. Beautiful walk down to the pond and great mountain views from the back porch! Robert and Debbi were VERY good about checking in to make sure everything was ok. Extremely accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Awesome get away!

We had a wonderful family reunion at this cabin. Room for everyone and the kids really enjoyed the game room. Internet is a little slow, but that is expected in a rural area.

Absolutely perfect!

This gorgeous lake house has all the comforts you'll need for an amazing vacation. Very beautifully decorated and loaded with all the basics you need in order to feel right at home. The owners, Robert and Debbie Sloane are very sweet and accommodating. The home is situated in a very central location only about 40 minutes from Blairsville, Dawsonville, Dahlonega, and five minutes from the beautiful German town of Helen. Our family had an incredible five days here and the children loved it as well! Can't wait to go back. We highly recommend it!

Precious family time

We gathered to celebrate a daughter's significant decade birthday. "Surprise" guests for her included a favorite aunt from Ohio and Marine son stationed near Baltimore. We cooked (too) good meals, played games. Our fishermen were delighted to fish the small lake in the boat. Such a lovely home in a great location....seemingly in the middle of nowhere in the mountains but a short drive to grocery store, Mt Yonah hiking, wineries. It doesn't get any better.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful time. The reason I gave you four stars for cleanliness, when we got there on Friday we noticed there was quite a bit of green mildew, mold on the front porch railing and we had to clean that up along with the chairs on the front porch. Thank you for cleaning the hot tub for us during our visit as the children really enjoyed that. We do wish there might’ve been curtains on the windows in the bedroom that block the sun so that we didn’t have to get up at 6 when the sun came up. It also would’ve had been nice to have hangers available. Those are just minor things and we truly want to thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. Thanks also for providing the sticks for tubing. Pam

Beautiful View

Our family of 9 adults enjoyed the spacious home and game room. We enjoyed Mt Yonah nearby for a day hike, Helen, GA shops and small wineries. The game room kept us all entertained when it was chilly and rainy outside and the pond with row boat kept us busy when it warmed up a little. My oldest son caught a nice bass in the back right side of the pond (he released it) We likely would stay here again if we visit the Helen area. Plenty of room and plenty to do in a relaxing way.

Spacious, beautiful, and fully equipped

Our family stayed at Cameron House Retreat to celebrate a birthday and there were 15 of us. The property was fully equipped, well maintained, spotless, beautifully decorated and felt like a home. There was a fire pit, a playset, plenty of outdoor furniture, a hot tub, a paddle boat, a rowboat, a library for adults and children, toys, and large TVs in all the rooms. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. The owners checked on us and made everything was as it should be and we couldn't have asked for more. Perfect for large families!!!! Can't wait to return.

Perfect Vacation Retreat for Large Family

Our vacation rental was great.. My husband and I had our 3 adult children with their families..everyone had their room and space.. Plenty of towels and supplies for the many many showers and baths.. Well stocked kitchen for making meals... We stayed 5 nights and ate every meal there with the exception of one evening..The Sloanes go out of their way to make sure you have all that you need.. The small children enjoyed playing in the yard, enjoyed the fire w/s'mores...along with area activities.. The teens enjoyed the late night games, the hot tub and the area activities such as zip lining and white water rafting... I think everyone's favorite was hiking up Yonah mountain...all of my children commented this was their favorite family vacation spot of all the places they have stayed...we would highly recommend this rental to others...it was a challenge for us since we had two babies, one 2 year old, 2 six year olds, one 13 and 2 fifteen year olds...Although a little anxious when booking a vacation rental.. I soon realized we picked a winner at the Cameron House!

We loved how interesting Cameron House Retreat is! Something interesting to look at, read, play and enjoy at every turn! Owners and manager attentive although we had no issues at all. The “how to” manual answered all of our questions. We enjoyed outings to Helen, Cleveland and Sautee. Hope to come back again.

Staying at Cameron House Retreat for our annual birthday trip with our twin 13-year-old boys and our family friends was an absolutely wonderful experience in every way. The house was so well kept and furnished with every conceivable amenity that it seemed the owners lived there full time and had just left to allow us to stay. Because Helen has so many options for dining, we only cooked one night but had everything we needed. The children enjoyed the hot tub, fishing in the lake, and playing all the games in the game room. There was only one issue, and it is only worth mentioning because the owner had it addressed immediately and came the very next morning to ensure everything was handled. We can’t wait to go back!!!! We love Cameron House Retreat!!!

Papa's Fish & Kids Getaway!!!

Papa's Fish & Kids getaway was also a pre surgery getaway. Papa' will have surgery soon and will be hanging up his pole (hopefully only for a short time!). The Cameron House Retreat was our respite. From the lake to the front lawn, the sweet sound of the grandchildren laughing and playing. To the occasional deer and plentiful lightning bugs, and the afternoon walks. What more could you ask for to recall upon when we are deep in our thoughts. Photos are wonderful, but they can't capture the smell of French Toast and coffee in the beautifully appointed downstairs. The whimsical upstairs children's rooms are a dream come true, and even the adults enjoyed their afternoon naps in their own spacious rooms. Mimi's favorite room was the downstairs library. It called me like a long-lost friend, my friend, time. The booking went smoothly, even though we added an extra night after our initial booking. The owners of the Cameron House even went out of their way when something was left behind. It's hard to trust what you see on the internet sometimes, but I can say with complete certainty, Cameron House Retreat is more than just a VRBO listing. Family weekend in Helen

The Cameron House was great. The house was larger than expected and provided plenty of room for all our family members. The host was great in responding and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is also in a very good location close to Helen and many other attractions. We had a great time. Will stay again!!

Bachelor trip paradise

My fiancé and a group of about 10 of his friends stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate his bachelor trip. They had the best time!!!! Amazing home.

I must start off and say that the pics of this home do not do it justice. This house is amazing and my family loved it. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out when the weather kept us inside and a great gameroom. The lake was great (although i would trim the willow tree at the dock) and we really wished we had the weather to take better advantage of the property. The home is very convenient to Helen and the surrounding areas, everything we wanted to see was no more then 15 minutes away.

Work Wellness Retreat

Property location is very zen. Calm, relaxing, peaceful, yet close to Helen, GA and other activities. Game room is great! Pool, ping pong, air hockey, poker, and other board games. Property owner and property managers are easily accessible and responsive.

Amazing property with breathtaking views

I would give this property 10 stars. Great location and not far at all from downtown Helen. Plenty of room if you have multiple families staying with you. My family will definitely be coming to stay here again!

We are native New Yorkers, born and raised, but have lived in South Florida for the past 20 years, where we work and play and enjoy our family; especially our twin grandchildren who turn 5 this October.

Why they chose this property

Our family vacationed here in 2012 and fell in love with the area, and knew we had to come here again and again. It took some doing, but we finally convinced the previous owners, Carol and Greg Crumley, to sell!
Northeast Georgia is called the 'gateway to the mountains'. With balmy days, and cool nights, this home melds both of our worlds, (New York and South Florida), into one.
We are very fortunate to be able to share this amazing vacation experience with others.
