There, you can view the ocean's inhabitants while walking through a transparent tunnel, go deep sea fishing, whale watching, and more! Jim was extremely responsive to all questions we had, always answering with promptness and kindness. The unit was fully stocked with everything we needed (and more), plus it was very clean, making our time there relaxing and so enjoyable. We love this location due to how central it is to all the places we love to explore when we are on the island. Only being about 15-20 mins from Kahului, Wailea, and Paia allowed us to easily make it to all our favorite places during our stay

The view from this place can’t be beat! Our crew LOVED being able to enjoy the grassy area right outside the door, and the beach is such a hidden gem! We saw turtles every day and had beautiful sunset views! Jim was very responsive as a host and the house was in great condition! We appreciated all the baby amenities and found the rooms very comfortable and cozy!

This was the most amazing week of our lives. We travele back "home" where we all lived for my mothers 90th birthday. Jim and Audrey were so helpful. We spend 7 months planning and by the time we traveled, i really felt like the Speth's were Ohana for sure. The view was unmatched. I felt like we were on a houseboat, unobstructed view for miles. And not to mention the daily whale show that we had. THe condo was stocked with EVERYTHING you could ever need from baby to grandma This is our new place to stay for sure. We WILL be back. The 3 bedrooms were just perfect for our family of 7. The condo was equipped with all amenities. What makes this an extra special place is the walk from patio to lawn area then beach!! Our grandkids loved the lawn area and pool area! The sunsets were amazing and swimming with turtles right beyond the condo was extra special! We appreciate the owner's communication and responsiveness. A great place to stay for families!

We had a magnificent stay! Everything was perfect from the location to the amenities. Having coffee on the lanai each morning was one of the highlights of our trip. We had 4 kids from 6-11 years old and they were able to enjoy the pool and nearby beaches. We will be booking again when we return to Maui, which can’t happen soon enough!

Our stay was nothing but amazing!! It was nice going out to the balcony and enjoy the sound of the waves and the sunset. The hosts were amazing and communicative. Check in was easy as well. Everything was about five to ten minute drive. Will definitely book again in the future.

We were quite surprised by your review, as you did not contact us, our on-island manager, or the on-site manager at all during your stay, as all of us would have been glad to help with any issues. Many of our nearly 300 guest reviews (most 5 Star) mention that the complex is calm and relaxing, which is what most guests are looking for, but it sounds like you had something else in mind. Kids of all ages are welcome at the complex and are often playing & laughing on the grass areas, in the pool, on the shuffleboard courts, and on the beach or in the ocean. Yes, for everyone’s comfort and safety, safe & proper behavior in the pool area is expected, as it is at almost any establishment. As for riding scooters on the property, the only paved or concrete areas are the parking lot, outside hallways, and pool deck, none of which are appropriate for that use. Although we don’t know of a resort that allows scooter riding, there are a number of parks nearby. Kalama Park (2 miles south & right on the beach) even has a specific skateboard area. Hopefully the choices you made helped improve your experience. We just wish you had let us know so we could have helped.

First of all I’d like to thank our host, Jim. He was quick answering questions, probably the most helpful VRBO home owner we’ve encountered in many years of renting vacation homes.The entrance to the condo is breath taking, Directly out the doors is the lana followed by a grassy area then the ocean. We traveled with two little girls who loved the extra space to run and jump! There are 2 areas to access the water. One has a stone breakwater keeping waves on the shore small. The area to the left has no breakwater allowing for stronger current. We were fortunate to see whales breaching directly in the ocean in front of the condo and as turtles graced the shoreline as we walked the beach. We had beautiful weather and never used the air conditioning so hearing the waves all night with the windows open was so relaxing. We were close to restaurants, whale watching tours, luau’s, the ocean center, shopping, a playground and more public beaches.There is a nice washer and dryer, noodles for the pool and a couple of beach chairs available to use. The cozy kitchen is nicely stocked. The bbq grills were immaculate and cooked nicely. The grounds are perfectly manicured. We had a large suv so parking was a bit tight but for most vehicles it was fine. There is a nice pool to use on the property but it wasn’t heated so it was pretty cold. We prefer swimming in the ocean anyway! All in all, none of us wanted to leave! That’s the sign of a great vacation and condo.

Our little slice of paradise is very special to us and we really enjoy sharing it with our guests. The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles are regulars and can be seen almost every day swimming and sunning in and around the front of the condo. The whales are seasonal visitors, usually arriving as early as October and staying into April (especially mothers with calves). Our condo complex has a great location and our unit has one of the best in the complex (just 36 feet from the seawall and ocean). It has always been extremely well maintained and feels very tropical. One clarification, the pool is heated but, unfortunately, the heater was broken and awaiting a part to arrive on island. Your statement that “...none of us wanted to leave!” is how many guests feel (and it’s always how we feel on the last day, even after 21 years of owning the condo). As we said earlier… “Our little slice of paradise is very special to us and we really enjoy sharing it with our guests.” Hopefully your review will help encourage new guests to come and visit our “Hawaiian Home”! Why they chose this property

We found ourselves in Kihei on our first "family" trip to Maui. We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, the proximity to the airport and Kahului, as well as easy access to the whole island. Menehune Shores 114 is blessed with daily tropical breezes, beautiful views of Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Pacific Ocean (you can't get much closer!), and the relaxing sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep, all on a beautiful and well-maintained property. Just to be sure this was the best possible condo, we kept looking while we were in escrow (and even after - 21+ years now), but nothing else came close!
