Jackalope Retreat is a charming, historic 1930s Forest Service cabin, and its cozy footprint is part of its original character. We list the cabin’s square footage in our description so guests know exactly what to expect, and we’ve thoughtfully equipped the space with everything needed for a comfortable stay for one or two guests. While Riverside is a small town with limited hours early in the week, there are several great options between here and the neighboring towns of Encampment and Saratoga. We highlight many of these in our pre-arrival guide and also keep updated restaurant hours posted on the cabin chalkboards to help guests plan ahead. We’re so sorry that your stay was negatively impacted by another guest’s disregard for our pet policy. That guest brought four unregistered dogs (well over our two-dog limit) and allowed them off leash, which is strictly prohibited at Cottonwood Cabins. We take these issues very seriously — those guests have been reported and are not welcome back. We understand that your cabin wasn’t the right fit for your needs. This particular cabin is one of our smaller, budget-friendly options and is accurately described and priced as such. Many of our other cabins offer more space and are rated 5 stars by guests who enjoy larger beds, full kitchens, and more room to spread out. We hope you’ll consider one of our larger cabins on a future visit — they might be a better match for the experience you’re looking for!
