Inside house was decorated very cute and very clean. Just like the photos. However, Backyard was dirty, messy and unusable. I requested one night to be refunded 3 weeks prior to the trip, I am still waiting for a response from a property manager. Ugh.
Our overall impression with the property and the management of the property was poor. We encountered multiple issues with the property and the owners remain radio silent. I've never left a review before, but feel like it's appropriate to highlight a few things to prospective guests.
Things to watch for:
- the backyard is heavily promoted as a key feature of the property but most of it was trashed and looks nothing like what's depicted in the listing photos. There has been crazy weather in CA that impacted the yard, but I would expect either a heads up from owner and/or would think it could be fixed or addressed by them or the local property manager, e.g. collapsed fence, weeds everywhere, weathered furniture, stuff strewn about.
- Plumbing issues with both showers, e.g. no hot water, busted drain, shower heads not functioning
- trash bags and trash piled up in front of the garage in the front of the house - the first thing you see when you pull in
- garbage disposal not working
- The refrigerator's ice maker and water not working
- random worker shows up unannounced to "work on the yard" when we're at the house
The house itself is pretty much the standard deal where an older property has been updated with some new flooring, paint job, furnishings and new furniture and generally serviceable with the exception of super hard mattresses. The location I guess is fine in terms of proximity to stores, restaurants, etc., but the neighborhood is still transitioning.
I sent note to owners when we first arrived and I thought it was a friendly heads up about some of the issues and included photos in case they hadn't been to the property. Didn't get a response. When the worker showed up unannounced I sent another note and didn't get a response. We checked out yesterday and still no response. Perhaps the responsibility centers around local property managers not giving this place attention prior to guests arriving, but I would think owners/prop. management would want to make sure this place is good to go during spring break. Oh well.
So given the overall experience, I'm posting this review to caution future users who consider this property.
Thanks.

This is a darling remodeled house in a great location for exploring the desert and Joshua Tree. Big backyard and patio with games, lovely artistic touches in the house. Fabulous shower in one of the bathrooms. Communication with the owner was prompt and easy. Information about the area and recommended restaurants and hikes in Joshua Tree was appreciated. Fast wifi.
This is an older home which comes with its quirks which I like. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood, great location to see all the sites and not far from Palm Springs area. Communication with the property manager was easy.
We had a great experience at Grayson and Sebastian’s. Very spacious house, large backyard with a mountain view, perfect for relaxing with a group after a long day hiking. Easy access to groceries, restaurants, and a quick drive to Joshua Tree National Park. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The natural light in the kitchen made our morning breakfasts our favorite time of the day. Being from out of town, the guide book they put together gave us everything we needed to get to know the area. We’re looking forward to coming back and would definitely rent again. Thank you, both!
