So… I’m going to have to give our stay 2.5 stars and I’ll explain.
It’s a 3 story house. The host lives on the top floor and 2 rental units below. Ours was the middle unit.
I will start with the positives.
Our stay was over Christmas. Steven had set up a small tree with ornaments and there were colorful lights outside! When we arrived he was very attentive to make sure we had what we needed.
It was clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable. The deck outside the master bedroom had the view of the lake. Such a pretty view with about .5 inch of snow covering Crestline!
Instead of a built-in stove there was a microwave/convection oven combo. Worked great for our Christmas dinner! There is a full-size refrigerator, but it’s in an adjoining room, not in the kitchenette.
TV and internet worked great.
The morning we left the host was out shoveling snow so we and the other guest could exit the driveway, which was very nice!
If possible, try to arrive before dark. Parking is a bit tricky especially since there are potentially 3 cars using one single lane driveway. Also be prepared to carry your luggage, ice chests, etc. down several stairs. Definitely not advisable for older folks for fear of tripping or falling.
Inside the middle unit, there is a staircase that leads up to the top unit. It’s covered by a curtain, which sort of made me a bit uneasy.
Weeks before our reservation communication with the host was sporadic. Sometimes it was reasonably right away, and other times it was as many as 3-11 days before he replied back. I didn’t like that very much.
At the end of our stay, the host’s integrity was in question. A promised exchange of money where he didn’t keep his word. Quite disappointing.
