About this property

Unique upscale 3 bdrm, 3 bath Oceanwoods cottage on lagoon; 150 yds from beach.

Welcome to this upscale, casual family cottage in one of America's most acclaimed resorts. 428 Sea Lavender Court is one of few cottages in the Oceanwoods community that has 3 full baths and a den. A recent complete renovation of the 1667 sq. ft. cottage included the installation of a kitchen gas range, a dishwasher, and a tankless gas water heater. The three bathrooms were completely updated in 2022 with beautiful ceramic tile and rimless shower doors. A cobblestone driveway and a path to a storeroom and shower area were added. This is not your typical beach rental! (A professional wide lens camera was used for most of the pictures.)

The cottage exterior has a unique and inviting look and is located on a neighborhood cul-de-sac. The kitchen, open to the living/dining area, has stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a bar with stools. Two small rooms on the front of the house include a dayroom with a sunny window seat and a separate laundry room with sink. The living area, opening to the screened porch, has a sofa/chaise lounge (from a Kiawah show house), two Sam Moore chairs and a 55” flat screen smart TV. The main ensuite and guest suite with private bath have comfortable queen-sized beds, chairs for reading or conversation, and upscale bedding. The third bedroom has custom-built bunk beds and a single platform bed with stylish bedding suitable for children or adults. All rooms except kitchen, laundry room and baths have ceiling fans.

Located on a peaceful lagoon 150 yards from Kiawah's 10-mile pristine beach, the cottage invites rest and relaxation. The walk to the beach is on a paved, shaded path that begins outside the cottage driveway. Our stretch of the beach, situated just west of the Night Heron condos and the 5-Star Sanctuary Hotel, remains uncrowded, inviting volleyball, bocci ball and other beach games. You also will want to spend time on the cottage's secluded, screened porch (with durable Brown Jordan furniture) from which you will look down the large lagoon and perhaps spot alligators, deer, bobcats, foxes, herons and abundant other species of birds. A charcoal grill facilitates a cook-out at any time. Wifi and four TVs (one for video games) are provided for additional enjoyment.

Four unisex bicycles are available for use on the island's 30 mile bike trails. Night Heron Park (The Nest restaurant, Nature Center, children's playground, basketball court, and more) is a 10 minute walk or a very short bike ride away. The island's shops, restaurants, and tennis and golf courses are within easy biking or driving distance. Freshfields shopping area is just outside the entrance to Kiawah and offers boutiques, gift shops, restaurants and an excellent grocery store. Superb restaurants are on the island and at nearby Bohicket Marina. Charleston, America’s top tourist destination with world class restaurants, is only 40 minutes away! If you come once, you will return! (NOTE: NO POOL FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE WITH THIS RENTAL. )

Host profile image
I love Kiawah! I have been a property owner since 1978, when our family shared an Oceanwoods cottage with eight Greenville, SC families. I have owned the current cottage since 1993 and have made major additions/improvements three times over the years. I currently split my time living between the Kiawah cottage and a Greenville townhouse that I share with a daughter and son-in-law. As a result, cottage availability is limited. Book early!

I am a retired clinical social worker, ending my career in 2011 at Furman University, my alma mater. I have three adult children and seven grandchildren, all of whom love Kiawah as much as I do. We rent a second house every Fourth of July week so that we can be together "at the beach".

Why they chose this property

Kiawah is an exceptional family vacation spot. This cottage is ideal for a large family, a multigenerational family, or two average-size families. Potty trained and well-behaved, non-shedding dogs up to 40 lbs. are welcome with an additional payment.

What makes this property unique

The cottage location is on a quiet, private cut-de-sac very close to an uncrowded strand of Kiawah's beach. A lagoon surrounds the back yard and its serenity and wildlife can be enjoyed from the screened porch or, when the weather is chilly, through large windows in the den. As an added convenience, four bicycles and beach chairs are available for your use.
