Iron Horse Lakes - remote getaway near Wichita, Newton and Hutchinson, KS

This is a great getaway, centrally located between 3 cities...Wichita, Hutchinson, and Newton. We are only 15 minutes from each! This is a better experience than a hotel. It is private and you can connect with nature. Enjoy the lakes, fire pit and patio. Those who stay are welcome to throw a fishing line into our sandpits!

PLEASE NOTE- This is a remote & awesome fishing cabin. Guests must bring towels, toiletries, and bedding! Also, this is the only home on the 35 acre property. However, we do have family and friends that access it on occasion for fishing. You may see one or two people fishing during your stay, but they’re a friendly group and should stay out of your space.

Sweet Spot

This is a wonderful little gem hidden back in the woods. Beautiful water areas and a nice little rustic cabin and pavilion. If you need a little getaway that is close to many other places this is perfect.

Even though it was crazy hot (109!) the day that we were there, we still had a great time. Everything was just as described and I'd definitely go back...when it's cooler out!

Great fishing adventure!!

Brad's place is a great outdoorsy place to get away for a fishing weekend!! The accommodations were as stated so we were overly prepared! Great place to unwind & escape the city/internet life. Having the two lakes to switch between for fishing was awesome...caught bass on both sides! West side made for beautiful sunsets!! Communication with Brad was always quick & helpful! My family & I will definitely be staying again in the future!!

Better than expected!

Pictures don't do this place justice. It is an awesome place just to get away and enjoy yourself. There were people that showed up to fish that weren't part of our group but they were all friendly and just did their thing. We were aware this could happen. A gentleman stopped by to check on us once and make sure everything was okay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! The facility is fantastic!

Quiet pastoral getaway

Neat, cozy cabin conveniently located off highway 50. The small lake made a delightful setting for short walks and sunset views. The nightsky was spectacular, especially while sitting around the well-placed fire pit and patio. Sleeping arrangements are somewhat limited, so consider bringing an air mattress/pad if you have a larger group. Overall, an excellent weekend stay for family and friends, especially those looking to escape busy life in the city. Final note: although our group only stayed for one evening, there is potential for a broad range of activities including fishing, a covered pavillion with AV capabilities, and a fun teepee for childrens activities. Plenty of entertainment for longer stays!

We had a really wonderful stay at Iron Horse Lakes cabin. The landscape was very peaceful and beautiful. I feel that the people who designed, built and decorated it put alot of thought into it because it had that cabin feel but had really beautiful touches. The light fixtures and lighting was really pretty. Brad was very easy to communicate with and told us everything we needed to know. I would love to stay again.

Amazing getaway

Overall was a very great experience and the day we were supposed to be staying it was supposed to storm and we’d asked if there was a shelter, and he said there wasn’t so he said he could change the date for us or refund us and we chose to stay a different night and he was very helpful and very understanding 10 out of 10 experience will be coming again

The area around the cabin is beautiful. Cabin was well stocked with the essentials. A little disconcerting that when we arrived a gentlemen was working on the cabin. He left in about 45 minutes after some loud drilling on the outside of the cabin. A few boys were fishing until dark and were yelling at each other across the water which was not peaceful. During the first night the roof leaked when it rained and we had to find pots and pans to catch the water. Also a little frustrating when having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night getting wet because the sprinklers were running. Sunday morning as we were enjoying our secluded breakfast outside, another worker arrived on a 4-wheeler and sat down and chatted with us. Overall, the cabin is what it is described as a remote fishing cabin if you don’t mind a few visitors.

Weekend Getaway

The cabin property was very remote and just what we needed to get away. Great place for walking and exploring around the lakes. Bathroom was not connected to the cabin but was very modern and nice. The only issue was there was a decorative fish hanging on the outside of the house that banged in the wind at night. We would stay again

Captivating

As soon as you round the bend and see the teepee, the charming cabin, and then the water, it feels as if you have traveled a long distance to a rare space! They pay attention to the smallest of details and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We were a group of women who would all like to return with our spouses!

It was an amazing property but the toilet stoped working and then the water in the cabin stoped working and the out door speakers where not working as well
