Wedding Weekend
We stayed here for a wedding at The Preserve at Chocorua and it was very nice. Property is about as close to the Preserve as you can get in this area (approx. 10 minute drive). The house is quaint and pretty much as advertised. For a summer stay, the only drawback is the lack of air conditioning. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Historical house on great property!
We came from Florida to spend some time in a “real” winter! This property had lots of outdoor space for kids to explore and play in the snow! The house itself is just as described, very historical with lots of antiques. I’d be cautious if bringing young children because of that. Lots of charm with the library books and decor! The beds were comfy and the house was clean and well stocked. Some of the kitchen items were dated but served their purpose. Close drive to King Pine Ski resort! Hosts were very accommodating to our requests and even called their neighbors to ask for help with an odd request ! Also really appreciated their fire wood and kindling they had stocked in the basement! Just a note for future renters - make sure you buy groceries before you get close to house - the closest grocery store is a good 30 min drive away, and closest gas station is almost 20 minutes away, so plan accordingly!

I am a 53 year-old mom of two young adults. I have worked as a private investigator in Vermont for the past 23 years, and have been coming to Wonalancet, NH my whole life. My mom and her extended family have a place right down the road from this lovely house, and I recently purchased this incredible place from a very dear old family friend. I have always cherished this home, and we feel very blessed to now be lucky enough to now own it. My husband and children and I love to hike & ski in the White Mountains, and sauna and swim in the clear streams. This is truly my favorite place in the world. I am happy to share this magical corner of the world with you! Please take good care of it while you are here! Feel free to read the old books, but please do not take any with you. They stay with the house! Thanks for being respectful.

Why they chose this property

This house is a very special place, as you will see. It has a gracious, majestic and classical quality. It was built in the 1880's, and is surrounded by big beautiful trees. It's a very comfortable, roomy house to entertain in, and it's easy to find a quiet nook to go and read a book. I love the library, and all the old leather bound books. The former owners were a husband and wife team of incredible writers, foreign correspondents, who left a wonderful energy in the place. I can still feel their presence!

What makes this property unique

The beauty of this house is that you can truly get away from it all, and be in nature, and yet feel very comfortable and pampered. The house is very well set up and nicely furnished, and there is nothing you will find that you need. There are incredible hiking and skiing trails right out the front door, and ski areas nearby, in addition to amazing cross-country ski trails. There are lakes and mountain streams to swim in, with awesome swimming holes, and many mountains to climb in the White Mountain National Forest. Walking in the moonlight down through the Wonalancet Valley is something you will not forget!
