Host was aggressive, unaccommodating, and dismissive.
The “host” company OrlandoShortTerm was aggressive and rude to me when I contacted them about security issues on their property.
They scheduled maintenance during my stay and could not provide me with a schedule or a heads up on what days or times to expect workers. They instruct their contractors to enter the property thru the gated backyard without first introducing themselves at the front door. The back gate is not locked, anyone can come onto the property at anytime without warning. A screen repairman arrived at the property at 6:30pm on a weekday night, I didn’t know to expect him and I thought he was a prowler. I was scared so I called OrlandoShortTerm. They could not confirm who that man was, why he was onsite, told me that I should not talk to anyone else who comes into the backyard during my stay, and they told me that if anyone else comes into the backyard I should run.
I used my own lock to lock the gate for the rest of my stay. I informed OrlandoShortTerm about the lock. When another maintenance worker came later in the week he was locked out, and OrlandoShortTerm told me I was being ridiculous for being concerned about prowlers on the property, that they have every right to send whoever they want to the property at anytime of day without warning. They escalated the issue so quickly and aggressively that it made me incredibly scared for my safety. I left a day early and filed a complaint with VRBO. This host is unhinged and dangerous.
