2 docks
My family had a great week in the Rusty Pelican. My 10-year-old granddaughter caught several fish & even a crab from the dock! My son caught several fish, as did my husband, and he also caught a stingray right from the dock! Just a quick couple blocks walk to the beach where we played, collected shells & at night caught & released ghost crabs! We had a great time. The home hasn’t been updated, older kitchen cabinets, etc. but we are not the type of family that stays inside, when we vaca we are outside enjoying Gods creation! We will definitely stay again!

Lovely view and great kayaking
The house was very clean, but unfortunately the Internet was down during our entire stay. I don’t think this was anyone’s fault, but it did make the visit a little more challenging since my husband needed internet for a few work-related obligations (which he missed). The kayaks were nice, and we enjoyed kayaking out in the bay one morning. There is a coffee maker and keurig machine, but you need to bring your own coffee and filters. A complementary supply would be nice so you don’t have to run out first thing. I always think a vrbo should be at least as nice as a hotel and supply things like coffee and a hair dryer. But there were plenty of clean bath towels and the sheets were nice and crisp. Something that could be improved upon is comfortable seating. The views of the bay are lovely, but there’s no comfy seating outside. Many of the homes around have Adirondack chairs facing the water, but this house has nothing like that. There are a few chairs on the deck, so that’s nice, but they’re not very comfortable for enjoying the breathtaking sunsets. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, and we were grateful to find a place last minute where we could travel with our two small dogs, but after fees, it was way more expensive than we were comfortable with, especially for the Spartan outdoor seating. The nightly fee seems very reasonable, and we fully expect a cleaning fee, but the fee charged by the management company seems a bit much.

Relaxing place to stay
My family loved that we were right on the bay. We could fish in morning and then walk to the beach later. We even sat on the balcony one evening and seen a dolphin.

Rustic not Rusty
All beach houses have some issues (like sticking doors or weathered looks) but I think that makes them charming. The Rusty Pelican is no different. They had all the finishing touches to make this comfortable - along with some updates like new fans and A/C but our favorite part was the piers and alligator neighbor. We actually saw him! Not only that but we saw dolphins from the balcony almost daily and the oyster beds nearby were fun to watch be harvested. It’s not too far from town but far enough you can feel like you got away. There’s sassy bass shops and restaurants in case you forget something or are hungry and the beach access is right across the street.
