This house is very quaint, lots of room and great location! It's an old house, so old house quirks (lighting and electric outlet limitations) are to be expected. We had some issues with our check in date, but the owner was responsive and reimbursed for the night we could not access the house. Would stay there again.
This house is a classic and it is massive! We had a large group that had plenty of space to spread out! The location was also optimal with nice views and an easy drive to campus or downtown. Highly recommend!
Perfect location to visit our student at Pitt. House had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. House was huge. Lots of rooms and space. Driveway is narrow but we were fine with that, just be aware of it.

Thank you so much for your kind review. It's our pleasure to hosting you and your family. Yes, we have a small off street parking spot and there are street parking spots in front of the property as well. Welcome back anytime.
Have had the opportunity to rent various places over our 4 years visiting Pitt. I rank this one of the best we've had. The location was ideal for getting to campus and graduation. Space in house is perfect for catching up with everyone and all the comforts. Easy check in great communication with host. Highly Recc

Good location, Mind The Driveway
The house was good and sizable for our requirements. The location was ideally located. A few notes to be aware of:
The driveway is VERY narrow and must be approached directly, not from the side. It may damage your car if you aren’t aware of that. The back area and view are nice but it is quite a drop off for dogs who are used to a bigger space. We visited in August and the AC struggled to keep up.
We rented the house to bring our granddaughter to her 98 year old grandmother, for a family Thanksgiving and it turned out to be a great choice. Very comfortable for the 5 of us staying there. The furnishings suit the house perfectly. We especially appreciated the crib, the booster seat; we didn’t expect so many children’s toy, a nice surprise. Negatives were parking and higher than expected level of street noise in 2 of the bedrooms. Overall, however, a very good experience.

Nice location, large but dated home
We came with a group of 6 friends. The house is well located near Pitt and Carnegie Melon. The house is spacious with 4 usable bedrooms for adults. The furniture is older and one of the beds was very mushy. The AC wasn’t great. We had to crank the AC to cool the 2nd Fl, so the first floor got quite cool while it was not so cool on the 2nd floor. The 3rd floor only has a portable AC unit in the Bedroom and it marginally cools. The PM was generally responsive and came to fix some things when we asked. It’s a fine place to stay when visiting Pittsburgh.
We knew we were booking an old house and did not expect it to be perfect. This house, however, was beyond imperfect. The photos in the listing do NOT represent the actual state of this house.
We arrived to find the driveway filled with garbage bags (8-10) and cans overflowing with more garbage and boxes. The host removed the bags the next day, but the cans remained blocking the front brick walkway, which was overgrown with weeds anyway and not navigable.
One of the two porch lights is missing, and the nice-looking outer door in the photos was off its hinges and thrown aside onto the patio area, which was also strewn with odd junk. The patio table was there, but some chairs were broken and cushions missing. The garden area had a junky table and the whole thing was overgrown, so we spent no time there.
Inside, the carpets are all stained, and the wood floors have holes in some spots. The kitchen is tired - I could share a long list but I'll just say that the silverware drawer was filthy, with bits of food inside. There was only a used worn-out sponge and no dishwasher pods.
The host's mail and some empty boxes were scattered in the diningroom, along with a highchair and a broken standing lamp. Some other lamps in the bedrooms were broken as well.
Before our family group arrived, my husband and I raced around to make the place more presentable.
On the third floor, the bathroom and bedroom doors do not close. I could say more, but I'm out of characters.
Renter beware!
The house was so clean. The beds were dangerously comfortable. We all slept in because the beds were awesome. The rooms also were quiet considering what a busy street it was one. It was close to everything we wanted. We will definitely come again.

Welcome back anytime. 🎉
We were in Pittsburgh for a family function. The home is suitable for a large family. 2 king beds were a plus for us since we had 2 >6 ft tall. The location is convenient to downtown and Univ of Pittsburgh. It was 10 min drive to downtown. It overlooks U of P. Main drawback is parking. We had a large vehicle that didn’t fit in the tight driveway but there was space along the street. The front bedroom had some street noise at night but was ok. Coffee maker is keurig style & we were grateful for the cups supplied! We didn’t cook (only made breakfast) so can’t comment on kitchen utilization. Overall, comfy home and would recommend.
We chose the house because of its location and amenities and were not disappointed. It became a gathering place for other friends and family in town for our special event. Owner very responsive.
I booked the home for my wife's mother, sister and ourselves. We had family business that had to be settled following the death of the family's matriarch. The home offered what we needed during our time of mourning.. The owner was very responsive to any and all of our concerns. We may have developed a friendship bond between us. I loved the old charm of the house.
Charming home with stunning old-world architectural style
I stayed at this property in mid-December just before the holidays. I was visiting with my daughter, a college student and also had some meetings with colleagues at the medical center. The location of the home was perfect - close to the college campus, near the hospital and a short walk to the CVS and shops. The house has charming characteristics and has been well kept and neatly decorated. There are lots of fun little details to like about this old home including the vintage built-ins, unique furniture and ornate fireplaces. The home has a magnificent view from the living area, and a stunning morning sunrise.
I very much appreciated the welcome gift as well as treats. Thank you for that. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots and pans and basic items, as well as coffee maker.
Overall we had a positive experience. Neat home, clean and cozy.
The only issue was the parking in the very narrow car driveway which Jia warned us about. I ended up parking on the street right in front of the home since I had an SUV, and it was just fine.
Thank you again for opening up your home to us.
The Center Ave house is a funky wonderful diamond in the rough. We stayed over Christmas and Jia Jia had a Christmas tree and chocolates for when we arrived. She made being away from home at Christmas much better.
The house is quirky with less than optimal electrical outlets but the view and proximity to all that is exceptional about Pittsburgh is right at your finger tips. The house is intriguing and no doubt could use a overhaul, but the charm is there.
I was great going back to the 'Burgh and stay in a classic old school house....just like grandmas! Great location for access to the city and the University complex. Highly recommend it!
Property is amazing, the view was great. Thank you have having coffee :)
