Bear Claw Treehouse is located on a 2 acre triangle bordered on the north by historic Big Canoe Creek. The treehouse is nestled into a group of trees with ground supports and easy access. There are several platforms around the property to enjoy the views. A canoe with vests and paddles are provided, the creek when normal is easily navigated up or down stream. A Creek Indian village known as Littafatchee was 1/2 mile up creek, DeSoto and his conquistadors rode thru here in 1540. Visit bearclawtreehouse.com for more info.

Weekend in Birmingham

This place is very charming. It's off the beaten path and that's a nice change of scenery for sure. This time of year, it was especially nice because of the cool weather. I'd stay there again.

It’s a great spot on the creek, great fishing. Our granddaughter 3-1/2yo visited us and had a blast. Tree house is perfect for a getaway or staycation. We’re locals and really enjoyed ourselves.looking forward to booking again.

The little treehouse was amazing if you like off grid adventures. The owners are above and beyond accommodating and wonderful ppl. We will use them next time as well!

It was such a magical get away. Loved the property, the quiet, the peace. Spent a whole day enjoying the canoe and fishing, caught some kitty cats, huge brim, large mouth striped bass, we were gentle and let them go. Enjoyed all the different platforms around the property. The tree house was magical also. And of course James was wonderful. Highly recommended. Next time i hope to enjoy the fire pit, just too hot this time. With the land so wooded didnt realize it was 90 on the water.

Thos property was great, once we asjusted to the toliet and shower situation, lol. No but seriously...I cant say enough great things about James and the property. He was extremely helpful and so responsive no matter how many times i messaged him. The property was very clean, secluded, PEACEFUL, and charming. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer.

First- I saw the low review below and can say that the person had no idea what they were talking about. I read the listing AND the website- it was fully up front about the property being somewhat off grid.We stopped here briefly on our way back home. It was such a wonderful experience! I would definitely go back. The translucent roof was amazing. The creek is absolutely peaceful. I loved sitting out there that evening/next morning just listening to the birds. There are all the creature comfort amenities you need inside the house (coffee maker, wifi, microwave, toaster oven). The decorations in the house are fun- we felt like every time we looked at the wall, we found something new and interesting. This is kind of close to a busy road during the day so be mindful if you have dogs with poor recall. I'm already discussing coming here for a girl's weekend! Thank you James!

We did not stay. I should have trusted my gut with the blurry pictures but the reviews changed my mind. The cabin is one tiny room. No counter space in the kitchen and only a curtain dividing the bathroom from the rest of the cabin. After looking around we noticed there is NO running water or indoor plumbing. You can pee only in the bathroom and there’s an outhouse for your other business. I contacted the owner the next morning for a refund due to there was no mention in the description that there was no running water. He said it did mention “semi off grid” in the description but I read it twice and could not find anything. He did refund my money.

You can trust the 5 star reviews, here and elsewhere. Bearclaw Treehouse is a wilderness retreat like no other. Systems are in place that overcome the lack of running water. So…if you want to feel the Spirit of a land that has had humans walking here for over 1500 years, come see us.

I stayed here in late March on a solo last-minute adventure. I truly had a wonderful time. Jim is a gracious host and excellent communicator.The real highlight of this experience is the amazing land that surrounds the treehouse. The area is perfect for relaxation. I highly recommend taking full advantage of the Nitefall porch as much as possible. All of the other seating areas are wonderful, too. The cold bottled water on the front porch, plentiful (and replenished) ice, and host-filled Tiki torches were all nice touches that greatly enhanced my experience. My experience was one that allowed me to be unplugged, refreshed, and very close to nature. I will absolutely be back in the future. Thanks, Jim, for a great stay and for being an excellent host.
