This is a home for relaxing and reconnecting with nature—not a party house. Voices carry across the lagoon, so we ask for quiet outdoor volumes and no amplified music after 8 p.m. Please respect our neighbors and enjoy the sounds of the breeze, birds, and jumping fish.

Environmental Sensors
To ensure a safe and healthy space, we use discreet camera-free environmental monitors (no sound or image recording). They track humidity, temperature, smoke, and noise levels. We’ll only notify you if thresholds are exceeded.

Conservation & Local Systems

A/C Use: Please turn off units when not home. Belize has limited power infrastructure, and energy conservation helps prevent outages.

Septic System: Only flush natural waste—no toilet tissue. Covered waste bins are provided and picked up twice a week.

We had a fabulous stay at Ophelia‘s Villa. The house is gorgeous and worked great for our group. The pool and view were especially enjoyed by all. Also, the location was great and worked really well for our group whether we were heading out for adventure or heading down to Placencia for dinner or boating. We would definitely stay in the same location and same house in the future. A big thanks to Ida for the delicious dinner and birthday cake she served our family one evening. Thank you so much for a fabulous vacation!

We had a wonderful stay at Ophelia's Villa. It has a beautiful view, amazing sunsets, great wi-fi, lovely pool that was the perfect temperature, comfortable beds, and air conditioning that kept us all comfortable. Our favorite spot was the shaded porch area overlooking the pool. The owner keeps this home in excellent condition and the management team provides clear and timely information. When we didn't want to cook we simply walked across the street to a great restaurant at Azure del Mar or drove a short distance to Naia. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Ophelia’s Villa. I had really wanted to be ocean side but we were so thankful we stayed on the lagoon side and had a pool when the sargassum rolled in as we were arriving. The house was exactly as described, clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of amenities and breathtaking sunsets on a quiet safe street. We all enjoyed the pool, hammocks, and kayaks. Ms. Ida made my son a wonderful birthday cake that was a great treat, I wish we had hired her to cook a dinner I think that would have been very special. Heather was a super helpful host, we appreciated all the local tips in the online guestbook as well as quick responses to questions we had. One tip I would have is that if you think you’ll want to go to Placencia village consider renting a car. We went down there 3 times and it’s quite a haul in a golf cart.

What a beautiful stay! The host truly thought of everything all kinds of thoughtful little details that made our visit special. The owners of this property go to great lengths to communicate- very atypical in VRBO rentals. WHen I was on the plane, I even got a message wishing me a safe trip to the house. The owners created an excellent virtual guidebook that explains everything about the house, and gave excellent directions. It even recommended local restaurants, beaches etc. I referred to it many times. Even with all the information, I still had questions, and Heather was always quick to reply on our pre-arranged What's App group (and the information was in the guide but I missed it!)

Can I give this more stars than just 5? Cuz I would!! House is incredible. Has allllll the things. Bikes. Kayaks with life jackets. Robes so you feel fancy schmancy. Very comfy bedding. A shelf of kid books, toys and games. A library of local guides - recipes, birds, fish etc. loved loved loved this house. And the hosts are just as amazing too! The place we were supposed to stay before Ophelia’s Villa cancelled on us last minute, host sent me a ton of other places to reach out to (because Ophelia’s was already booked before our check in date). Just go ahead and click book. You’ll love it.

Great space for larger groups!

I traveled with a group of 8 people and the space was so accommodating and a wonderful experience! The private pool overlooking the lagoon was the perfect place for us all to hang out and relax.

This home was absolutely amazing. The location was perfect. The pool was very refreshing. All the beds were very comfortable. I don't have one bad thing to say about our stay. We hired Ida to cook a breakfast and dinner for us and it was wonderful. We cooked alot of our meals at the house and all the basic cooking needs were provided.

We had a great time in spite of very rainy weather.The house was comfortable and filled all our needs when we couldn't be outside.Owner and staff were all great.Location was great. Near many good restaurants and great access to Maya Beach through the Green Parrot restaurant and bar.Enjoyed a great meal prepared by owner's personal chef.Could not have asked for more.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Ophelia's Villa! The villa had everything we needed. We enjoyed the pool, games, and kayaks. Fantastic Stay at Ophelia's Villa

Ophelia's Villa was exactly as described, and in person, even better. The view of the lagoon and the Mayan mountains is extraordinary. The villa is extremely well thought out, and the communication with the Owners and Property Caretakers was the best I've ever experienced. The location was perfect for our family-- close to everything but also provided privacy. I definitely recommend this villa. Loved our visit to Belize.

This place was awesome and exactly what the descriptions and the pictures represented. AMAZING FAMILY TIME!!

We had a marvelous time at Ophelia Villas, ideal location right at the lagoon! We went kayaking daily and caught some nice Snook! Kids enjoyed the pool, sooo much to do around this place! The views from this place are beyond what we expected .... especially the sunsets!! Will be back soon!!

House was spotless in a beautiful location with beautiful sunsets. Luti was so helpful and the entire management team very responsive to any question. Really enjoyed the outdoor space and use of kayaks and of course the pool. Thank you!

Our time at Ophelia’s Villa was absolutely amazing. From the onset, Luti and Ms Ida were wonderful and attentive. Heather is an excellent host who responds quickly and offers so much help! We booked all our excursions through Capt Jaks who took awesome care of us! Definitely recommend Pablo!!!You couldn’t ask for more out of a vacation home. The house has everything and I was so pleased to find out it looks just like the pictures!!! The views of the mountains over the lagoon are breathtaking. The villa is pretty centrally located and an easy golf cart ride to anywhere around Placencia. Also, a huge bonus was being on the lagoon side we didn’t have any of the seaweed!!!!I would highly recommend Ophelia’s Villa to anyone I know going to Belize!

Lush landscaping and sweeping lagoon views

The Ophelia’s team went above and beyond to help us prepare for stay even prior to arrival. Once we arrived, the onsite property manager walked us through and we noticed all the thoughtful, welcoming and local touches that enhanced our vacation experience. I will never forget waking up to the sweeping lagoon views that this property offers. My teens won’t forget the pool.

Why they chose this property

Hi! We are the family behind Ophelia’s Villa. Our love for Belize started in 2008 when we (minus our kids) stumbled upon a small country in Central America. We instantly fell in love with Belize during our weeklong stay on the Caribbean Caye (island) of Caye Caulker. The people, culture, hospitality, food, and beauty hooked us... we knew we found a special place. In 2016 we set our plan in motion to reach our goal to own our slice of paradise in a country we fell hard for. We knew we wanted a home where we could connect to all the things we love about Belize as well as a place to make memories for years to come. We spent a lot of time researching and visiting different areas of Belize to determine the best spot. In 2018 we visited the Placencia Peninsula. The moment we arrived we instantly knew this was the place for us. We originally set out to buy a vacation home but after a lot of searching, we made the decision to buy a lot and build our dream home. We built our custom-designed villa on a beautiful waterfront lot located on the Placencia Lagoon in Maya Beach, a short distance from the vibrant Placencia Village. While we love the beach, it is appx. 300 yards away, we knew the lagoon has something special to offer. We are delighted to have a home for our family and friends to spend time at, connect, and make memories. Our daughters are quickly developing their own adventurous spirit and enjoy all Belize has to offer. We wish you a memorable visit to Belize filled with adventure, relaxation, and connection.

What makes this property unique

Placencia is a gorgeous emerald peninsula in southern Belize with 16 miles of sandy beaches. The Caribbean Sea is to the east and the charming Placencia lagoon lies to the west looking towards the Maya Mountains on the mainland. The busy part of Placencia lies in the south where visitors will find the greater concentration of coffee shops, bistros, the harbor, guest houses, banks, and local restaurants. Placencia Village, a Creole village is at the southern tip of the peninsula. A long concrete sidewalk runs up the center of the village. The 16 miles or so of beaches on the peninsula are beautiful and offer toast-colored sand. Our villa is located in Maya Beach and is a small and quiet beach community on the Placencia peninsula that consists of a long, clean strip of sand, beach loungers, wooden docks jutting out over the sea, and hammocks strung between palm trees. Visitors who come here do so to relax, sunbathe, and dine on fresh seafood at one of the beachfront restaurants. Out of the three beach towns on the Placencia peninsula, Maya Beach is the most serene. The drive to the vibrant Placencia Village is a short car ride from Maya Beach.
