OVERVIEW:
Relax and enjoy the amenities of an upscale hotel, with the benefits of a private home, at the Guest House at Casa Todo Bien. Located on Flamingo's exclusive South Ridge, in a small, gated community of just three residential properties, the guest house features: a private, infinity-edge plunge pool; panoramic ocean views; elegant soaking tub; full kitchen with dishwasher; dedicated work space in living area; high-speed fiber optic internet (up to 200Mbps); fully air-conditioned; one-car garage; security system; neighborhood night guard; and free, bilingual concierge service. (Please note: the property is about a 10-minute walk to the beach. VRBO is saying two-minutes — we do not know why or how to change this.)
PLEASE NOTE: Easter week min. stay is six nights. THE PLACE AND SPACE The Guest House is designed with indoor-outdoor living in mind. From its perch as the highest home on the mountainside, you will enjoy spectacular ocean views, the best in all of Flamingo. Lounge outside on the spacious pool deck, or open the glass door in the living room to put your feet in the pool and cool off with a tropical drink. Prepare a gourmet meal in the fully-equipped kitchen as you savor the ocean sunset.
The open and airy living space features amazing pool and ocean views. Large sliders in the bedroom provide plenty of light and open wide to catch the tropical breezes. You’ll hear the resident flock of parrots chattering in the mornings, as well as the low, loud howler monkeys. Throughout the day, you’ll be lulled by the sound of the surf on Flamingo beach. The home is fully air-conditioned, with mini-split units in the living area and bedroom. Additionally, there are ceiling fans in the living space, bedroom, and entryway.
THE GUEST HOUSE NEIGHBORHOOD:
The Guest House is located on Flamingo's exclusive South Ridge, populated with million-dollar-plus properties. Enjoy views of Playa Flamingo and Playa Potrero, including the new Marina Flamingo. Playa Flamingo, known as one of Costa Rica’s top beaches, is a short ten-minute walk down the mountain. Have lunch or a sunset dinner and cocktails at Restaurante Coco Loco, or take a cooler and chairs (provided by the Guest House) for a day at the beach. Our concierge service can arrange canopy and lounge chair rentals, water activities, ATV tours, or a romantic beach picnic.
GETTING AROUND:
Restaurants and grocery stores are plentiful within a ten-minute drive of the property. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, as the mountain road is steep and surrounding roads may have ruts or potholes. If you only require local transportation around Flamingo, golf cart rentals are available. Main roads in the area are paved and in good condition. Our concierge service will happily make arrangements for any of your transportation needs, including private airport shuttle service.
GUEST ACCESS:
Upon check-in, you’ll be given a code for the main gate. There are three properties inside the gated neighborhood.
The entrance door to the guest house has a keypad that is reprogrammed for each guest. You will have access to an outdoor shower and foot wash near the entrance to the Guest House, so you may rinse off after visiting the beach. You will be given codes for the entry door and the gate to the shower area.
There is an alarm system for the home, which may be armed and disarmed with an easy-to-use fob. Set the alarm system whenever you leave the property and at night.
The Guest House has its own private, secure garage. Please park in the garage during your stay to leave the driveway clear for workers and your hosts to access the property.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS & PRIVACY:
The Guest House offers a free concierge service for check-in, answering questions, making reservations for activities, arranging on-site services (such as a private chef or a visit from a massage therapist), and assisting with any emergencies.
Your concierge will meet you at the house for check-in. If you will be arriving late at night, please let us know and we will arrange a self check-in.
Your hosts, Wendy and Karen, live next door to the Guest House, in Casa Todo Bien. The Guest House and the main house were designed so each one has privacy. There is a carport, privacy wall, and gate that separate the two homes and outdoor spaces. We are friendly people and enjoy meeting guests, but you likely will not see or hear us much; the amount of interaction you have with us is completely up to you! (If you would like to come up for a tour of the main house, just reach out to Wendy.)
OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE:
—> Our concierge service is available to help maximize your relaxation and enjoyment during your stay at the Guest House. Services include ordering pre-arrival groceries and beverages; reserving an airport shuttle, golf cart, or car rental; planning tours, activities (zip lining, ATV rentals, horseback riding, surf or yoga lessons), and day trips; arranging on-site spa services such as massages and facials; and answering any questions you may have about Flamingo and the surrounding areas. The concierge service is also available to assist you 24-hours a day in case any issues arise or there is an emergency. Please note, the services of your personal concierge are free for you to use and do *not* increase the cost of the activities or services being reserved.
—> Fiber optic internet service is provided at up to 200Mbps. The Guest House internet is quite reliable, but we do have occasional outages. If you plan to work remotely, you may wish to bring a mobile hotspot device to ensure your work is not interrupted. There are co-working offices available to rent in the area (approx. 20 min. drive) and all restaurants have wifi.
Power outages can happen any time of year, but particularly during the rainy season and times of high winds. Usually, these outages are short (less than an hour), but we are in Central America and outages can be longer, especially during storms.
—> The South Ridge neighborhood is undergoing rapid development. There are two large homes under construction on the mountain road on the way up to the Guest House. We are located at the highest point on the mountainside, above these sites, but you will hear construction noise, which can begin as early as 6:00 a.m. and continue until 8 p.m.; there are no local ordinances regarding working hours. While the construction is audible from the property, it has not been overly disruptive.
—> Your safety and security are important to us. While Flamingo and the Guest House neighborhood are generally safe, it’s important to take precautions to prevent crime when traveling in Central America. The Guest House is located within a small, gated community of three properties and features an alarm system; a private, secure garage; outdoor cameras; and a night guard for the neighborhood. Please ensure you set the alarm at night and when you leave the property. Hosts are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
—> Please note the Guest House living quarters are on the second floor to maximize the views, and may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues.
—> Floors may be slippery when wet. Please use the bath mats provided when entering or exiting the pool, soaking tub, and shower, and dry your feet before walking on the floors.
--> Due to today’s travel environment, we strongly recommend guests purchase a "cancel for any reason" travel insurance policy. This will cover any fees imposed by VRBO for canceling a stay.
—>Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter weeks may require up to seven-day minimum stays.
—>Sorry, this property is not available for long-term rental.
