About this property
FARM-TO-TABLE eating, good hot tub soak, S'mores around fire pit, seasonal POOL!
We are pleased to once again offer our ever-popular home-away-from-home, fully-appointed, secluded guest apartment with full kitchen, laundry, and private entrance. Newly added: propane "wood" stove! Queen bedroom, king bed in large alcove off living room, and comfy (no kidding) double pull-out sofa in recently redecorated and enlarged LR. Fully stocked kitchen/DR combination with all appliances including dishwasher and microwave. Entrance is through a heated mudroom storage for skis, boots, and all manner of sports gear. Bathroom with double shower, washer and dryer. Large closets, cable TV, DVD, CD stereo. Fenced in brick courtyard for outdoor grilling / dining and just-added private fire pit around the corner next to the newly-installed deck for hot tub. Large yard, POOL in season. Second apartment available for additional guests.
Convenient to Williamstown, MA (6 miles) and to Bennington, VT (6 miles); both with scores of recreational, entertainment, culinary, and cultural venues. Many agri-tourism opportunities, farm-to-table dining, world class art galleries and cultural venues, superb hiking and river rafting and boating, top drawer theater festival, and regional theater, an authentic drive-in theater AND a destination diner.
Where else can you stay and choose to go to Saratoga Raceway one day, hear the Boston Symphony (or James Taylor) at Tanglewood the next, go white-water kayaking on the Battenkill after that, then see a Broadway touring company at Proctors one night and a first run production at the Williamstown Theater Festival the next, hike the AT the next day and maybe even the day after that (we have two access points), and then wrap it all up with a shopping spree at one of our premium outlet centers? There is so much to do here, if you spent the entire summer, you couldn't do it all.
Dog permitted under most circumstances. Please request the Doggie Dos and Don'ts and tell us something about your pet!

What can I say? We are creatives who love the beauty and serenity of this place. We spent our adult lives in Fairfield County CT with a 8-year sabbatical in Vermont, and looked for a location that would not only fulfill our space requirements but meet our emotional needs as well. We share our environment with Molly McDuff a happy. over-enthusiastic hound/herder/wolf mix! We've always loved one-of-a-kind places, and this definitely fits the bill. We no longer live full-time in Vermont but you will occasionally find we welcome you in person.
Why they chose this property
Well, this is more than a vacation rental; it's an entire lifestyle. Pownal Valley is probably one of the most beautiful in all of Vermont. Rolling limestone mountains might not make for double black diamond ski runs but they do make for fabulous vistas. Our views are without challenge anywhere throughout New England. Our complex is convenient to Route 7 but our guests ALL say the property feels totally private and peaceful.
We moved here full-time in January of 2007. In a portion of our barn complex we operated a commercial photo studio and a craft gallery and later added a homemade ice cream service. Personal events caused us to move back to Connecticut where we can be helpful to our family and pursue some other interests, although we are the fill-in workers in a state that often experiences labor shortages. In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy our beautiful Vermont property.

What makes this property unique
This is all about peace and relaxation; and not a partying place by any stretch. For our rental guests: Fenced in courtyard for grilling and dining. Fire pit for ghost stories and s'mores. a private hot tub for soaking those aching bones. Full-length lap pool for a leisurely swim or a good workout. AND a large flat, safe yard for kids and dogs to play!
