The Gorges du Verdon are a natural wonder located in Provence, on the border of the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Var. Nicknamed the "Grand Canyon of Europe", this spectacular site was dug by the Verdon River over millennia.



A grand and unique landscape

The largest canyon in Europe: With limestone cliffs up to 700 metres deep, the Gorges stretch 25 kilometres. The canyon offers breathtaking panoramas, with the Verdon River winding down in an emerald blue-green water.Lakes: At the end of the canyon, the river forms several large lakes, including the famous Lac de Sainte-Croix and Lac d'Esparron-de-Verdon. These turquoise-coloured stretches of water are perfect for swimming and nautical activities.Panoramic roads: To admire the grandeur of the place, several roads along the Gorges offer spectacular views. The Crest Route is particularly famous for its 14 viewpoints overlooking the canyon.
