About this property

House of Trails - Views and Nature on the Edge

Deep in the heart of Big Bend, only 5 minutes from Downtown Alpine, is nestled House of Trails on the slope of "A" mountain. House of Trails is a cozy, end- of- the -road, secluded get-away with a serene, desert -mountainous view and a happy trail!

House of Trails features two bedrooms with comfy queen beds, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and Livingroom, all furnished with a Western flair and tiled floors throughout.
Outside, sitting on the covered porch, you can breathe in and see the wide, mountainous desert, with a foreground of a pond made with local bentonite clay that holds the water very well and provides water to wildlife like deer, birds, and bats. This porch is a wonderful morning coffee place and has a terrific view of the sunset skies. If you want to take a trail, House of Trails, has a happy, well-maintained walking trail that meanders half-way up ‘A Mountain’ to a bench, or you can take it to Blue Water Natural Foods for a convenient grocery run. A carport is provided and a fenced yard for pets.

Blue Water Natural Foods, conveniently located next door is the perfect place to pick up food and other items for your stay!

As you trek your trail of life, we hope House of Trails can become a part of your Happy Trail Adventure here in the Big Bend!

House of Trails has an awesome view of thousands of undeveloped acres on the Ranch next door. On this side of the fence there are 6 acres of nature to hike up A-mountain.
There is also a treasure hunt for children along the path. Check out the digital guide for more information!

These trails feature part of the natural landscape which can be prickly and poky. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes while hiking.

The area around the pond is a common area that can be enjoyed by guests and residents living close by. Swimming is an option in the natural pond. Swim at your own risk and please only use the provided beach towels.

TV - There is not cable or satellite service, however you may log into your accounts on the smart TV to watch your shows.

House of Trails is conveniently located in very close proximity to the local natural food store. Blue Water Natural Foods is the perfect place to pick up food and other items for your stay!

PETS - Pets only with prior notice and a $40 pet fee which we will request a few days before arrival.

Please do not allow pets on the furniture.

Property is convenient and clean. It's a little difficult to find as Google maps sent us across the highway.

Beautiful views
The house was great! Nice and clean, well stocked, comfortable furniture, and dog friendly. It's got a small fenced and gated yard which was very helpful as we brought dogs. Close to town and within walking distance to a store. There is access to the hiking trail right outside the door. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to vacation in Alpine.

Alpine retreat
Nice house with walking trail nearby. Perfect for our visit to the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Sul Ross. Watch out for the train that comes through and parks on the tracks for 20 minutes blocking your entry to town!!

Not worth the money, stay away!
Despite a high rental price, this home is not clean at all including bed sheets/towels (that are old yellowish color and you can see hair everywhere looks like uncleaned), kitchen utensils, etc., Road access with dirt road is also bad and dangerous one. We stayed at three different places in one week (all of them were fantastic) and sorry to say that this was the bad one. All they care is money and not the services. Not worth the money, stay away!

Great stay
My family and I stayed here while visiting Big Bend park. The place was clean and kept up nicely. Easy day trips from there to the park. I would definitely stay here again!
