Summary:
This lovely beach house is located on a bridge less island in the Gulf. Just hop on the water ferry or bring a boat to dock at the complimentary slip. There are no restaurants, stores, cars, or crowds on this slice of paradise! Anchors Away is a newer home tucked away at the end of Buccaneer Trail, a quiet tropical pathway at the south end of the island. The home is nestled in the trees for a lush tropical ambiance with all the comfort of a modern home.
The Space:
Please note that Little Gasparilla Island is a barrier island accessible only by boat; we provide water taxi information when you book. You cannot drive your vehicle to the island; you park at the marina on the mainland where you catch the water taxi. There are no stores, bars or restaurants on Little Gasparilla which means it has retained much of its "old Florida" ambiance and pristine beauty. For years Little Gasparilla was visited only by locals who would come on weekends to fish, go to the beach and enjoy the privacy, peace and quiet. Now, even though it has been discovered, the lack of commercial establishments means that the island appeals to those who want to get away from crowds, tourists, traffic and technology.
The owners are also making their golf cart available for rent at a special discounted rate.
A new kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances -- including a gas stove for those who prefer gas --offers the perfect spot for cooking your vacation meals. In addition to the eat-in kitchen, guests can also dine al fresco on the screened in porch, which also has a comfortable porch swing. There are two bedrooms upstairs that share a bath. Each has a queen bed and beautiful views of lush tropical foliage. Downstairs, a third bedroom offers another queen, a small refrigerator and a private bathroom. (This bedroom offers a window AC unit rather than central air.). It offers even more privacy and has a sliding door that opens to the deck.
Downstairs, a spacious deck offers a comfortable hammock, party lights, a bar area with seating and a spacious outdoor shower. The home also offers a golf cart that you may rent, for easy access to the beach and the dock. The home offers a dock slip at either dock 78 or 79 for boats up to 24 feet.. The water taxi drops you at Dock 75 which is the main dock for Gaspar's Hideaway and Rum Runner Road. The private beach access is just a short walk down Rum Runner Road.

The Neighborhood:
The island is only accessible by boat. There are no stores or roads on LGI. Enjoy miles of uncrowded beach and beautiful wildlife!

The water taxi runs at any time, but rates are increased for early morning trips or passage after 5 PM. The rental includes a complimentary dock slip if you prefer to rent or bring your personal boat.
Other Things to Note:
Please evaluate your expectations before booking a stay on Little Gasparilla Island. If you are expecting a polished "resort" atmosphere, Little Gasparilla is decidedly more rustic. During periods of heavy rain or tropical storms, there may be standing water on the roadways, at the dock and around the house. This is a tropical environment with mosquitos, rust, power outages and other minor inconveniences. If you are expecting resort amenities and services, the island might not be for you.
Interaction with Guests:
We have an on island guest services manager available in case you need anything during your stay.
