IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING PETS AND ADDITIONAL BOOKING REQUIREMENTS AT BOTTOM OF DESCRIPTION.

Located within Pisgah National Forest, and a quick 5-minute drive from historic downtown Burnsville, Barnview Cottage is nestled into the foot of Bee Branch Mountain overlooking the lovely pastoral valley known as Johnson Cove. The 4-acre property includes private Bolens Creek frontage, a white pine forest, and seasonal native rhododendron and wildflowers. Views from the cottage include mature trees with distant mountains peeking through and a picturesque family farm with barn, pastures, and pond.

This SWEEEET well-appointed cottage is perfect for a family vacation, a weekend with friends, a romantic getaway, or an individual retreat. Enjoy the mountain breeze as you rock on the porch with your morning coffee or dine al fresco at sunset. Listen to the distant lowing of cows, watch the day’s activities on the farm, and look out for the occasional visit from wild turkeys and deer. Sit by the creek, fish, or take a soak in the cool mountain water. Select a good book or record from the cottage library while you enjoy the wood-burning stove. Work remotely or just escape the family in the serene Writer’s Roost, a stylish, comfy retreat with desk, wifi, and leafy views. Explore historic downtown Burnsville, which offers excellent festivals, art galleries, shopping, restaurants, cafes, and a popular local brewery great for live music and people-watching.

Barnview Cottage is near a number of great hikes and waterfalls, such as Crabtree Falls, Roaring Fork Falls, and the Black Mountain Crest Trailhead (the entry point for the rigorous 12-mile hike to the top of Mount Mitchell, the highest peak in the Eastern U.S. Its a scenic 20-minute drive to Carolina Hemlock Recreation Area where you can swim in the South Toe River, hike, and, if you’re lucky, spot a black bear. A quick half-hour drive to Mars Hill, Little Switzerland, and the Blue Ridge Parkway, equidistant to Mount Mitchell State Park, Asheville, Grandfather State Park, Sugar Mountain, Linville Gorge, and Roan Mountain State Park, Barnview Cottage is an excellent home base for exploring everything the NC Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.

We’ve done our best to make packing for a stay at Barnview Cottage a breeze. Pack a suitcase with your personal belongings and a grocery list for a quick stop as you roll into Burnsville. You won’t need much else as Barnview Cottage is kept stocked with dish cleaning supplies (including a brand new kitchen sponge for each new guest stay), laundry soap, and coffee filters for the auto drip coffee maker. Each new guest stay is provided a roll of paper towels and a couple of rolls of toilet paper to get their stay started. Guests must supply their own replenishments of paper products, but what is supplied should suffice for a stay of up to 5 to 7 nights (depending on number of guests staying).

Delightful and Great Location
My son and I enjoyed this property very much. It had plenty of space both indoors and out. The home was within an easy 20 minute drive from everything we wanted to do. We didn't have to purchase anything to use in the kitchen - it even had splatter screens! A fanastic grocery store was less than 2 miles from the house. The back porch was just wonderful. Listening to both the creek and the wind chimes was very relaxing. My favorite surprise was the Milsaps mug...IYKYK!

Relaxing retreat
Wonderful cabin tucked into the side of the hill. We enjoyed the creek below the house and especially the writers retreat space. Calm and relaxing getaway that felt like home!
