It’s very clean with lots of room for the price. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The pool is well-maintained. The owner is very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!
This property was absolutely beautiful and spacious! The home was very accommodating for my group and we all had such a wonderful time. The views were perfect and the neighborhood was nice and quiet. Michael was extremely helpful and very available to answer any questions we had. If you plan on visiting Charlton, I would definitely recommend this place!
I rent a house every year with a pool for the family to just hang around & enjoy everyones company. This year for the time frame I needed this house was available & it's only 20 minutes from my house so to me it wasn't a vacation. Let me start off by saying the house is a really nice house & the neighbo
It was nice. Not really waterfront. Pool was nice on a hot day. FYI- Google maps took us to the wrong house. Glad the neighbor didn't mind us at the door at 10 p.m. Plenty of room for family gathering.
Plenty of room for our family. Lovely sunroom. Couches galore. Well equipped kitchen with lots of pots and pans, air fryer, coffee makers and waffle iron. Convenient washer and dryer on second floor. Good communications with host. A few items would have made it perfect- we needed dish towels, hand towels, hand soap, paper towels, napkins, tissues. And the toilet paper was the thinnest ever… otherwise we enjoyed our stay a lot.
We were 4 friends staying in the house. The house was big and had nice location in a quiet area near Tree House Brewing.
We were not able to use the pool, which was a bit disapointing. The water in the pool had not been cleaned for a while. Maybe the pool season had not started in the middle of Mai..

Hi Andre,
Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at my rental. Sorry to hear that you were not able to use the pool as you would have liked. It was certainly due to the pool not being opened yet at the time of your stay. I usually open the pool in the last week of May or by June 1st at the latest. I am going to aim towards having it open at least by mid may going forward taking the weather into consideration as well by then and hopefully that helps improve the experience of future guests who will be looking to rent the house in May at around the same time.
Thanks once again for your feedback.
The pictures were alot nicer than the property honestly, I think it was overpriced. I let the owner know about some issues with broken furniture, airconditioning not working and stove not accurate.. there were about a dozen things we found wrong, dont think the property has been occupied or well cared for in awhile. Will not return.

Hi Terri,
Sorry to hear that your stay was not as smooth as it should have been and that you were faced with so many challenges. Please accept our sincere apologies. Let me also clarify that the property is in fact well maintained and routinely nicely taken care of. The issues raised by Teri are all no longer issues and most of them were most likely as a result of missing instructions. Teri's stay came at the peak of transition points between the cold to warm season. Unfortunately some of our warm weather professional service providers such as landscaping, pool services, were backed up and were running behind schedule. They are all running on regular schedule now with no issues and provide timely maintenance at the property.
As for the broken furniture, any furniture that is damaged by previous guests is removed and stored in a safe place where it is eventually discarded. Unfortunately some of that was somehow removed from the storage area and mixed with the good furniture by the group before Teri but has all been taken care of and removed.
As for the Air conditioning, the house has five thermostats that control air conditioning which all work in tandem. They were prior defaulted to run per cold weather settings however they can be adjusted. We suspect that adjustment instructions might have been missed by Teri but these changes were made and the air conditioning around the house works perfectly fine. We always thrive to make sure that all guests have a memorable stay and in case of any short comings or issues we do our best to work with the guest with a main goal of resolving all issues amicably.
Teri one of us will reach out privately to share some compensation options as well as ways of offsetting some of the challenging experiences you had during your stay.
We arrive to the house and the code to get in was never put it. We called six times, e-mailed and even called vrbo to try to get in touch with owner. No one responded. Had to find a hotel. The next day at 8:30 my phone rings and it is the property manager who stayed they had an emergency and forgot. Really that is how you treat people staying at your home. Would not recommend you renting from this owner since can't get a hold of him. Very inconsiderate.
We were in the area for a wedding and had grandparents, parents, and five kids (ages 6-16) in the house. It was a great size, ample sleeping space. Beautiful common rooms. Nice TVs and no trouble connecting to games. Pool table/ping pong table in the basement was fun. It poured so we weren't outside but there was a gorgeous porch and backyard as well as a swing set that I'm sure my kids would have enjoyed if we could be out.
Nice washer/dryer on 2nd floor. Showers had great water pressure and were plenty warm.
The owner, Michael, was extremely kind and responsive when I emailed.
Kitchen was hit or miss on what it had - for example no regular coffee pot but a Keruig. Two bowls so we had to improvise and use cups for cereal.
Linens provided but only towels. No washcloths or hand towels in bathrooms.
The kitchen and washcloth thing were not a big deal to us and it didn't take away from the stay. As I read other reviews, just some small things that could be fixed. However, we all agreed that we would stay there again if we were in the area.
Solid Place to Stay but there is room for improvement
I booked this listing for a group of friends who traveling through the area to visit the Treehouse Brewery that is 10 minutes away. We wanted a place to relax, enjoy some good food, and take in the area.
The house is really charming for an older house. You can tell there has been quite a bit of work done to renovate and that really comes through.
However, I found some of the details lacking. You can tell that the cleaning crew that looks after the house missed quite a bit.
- Chairs in the kitchen had loose legs - nothing broken but just needed to be tightened and reupholstered
- Dishes were dirty and still had bits of food stuck on them
- Pool wasn't clean ... its not quite pool season but it didn't look too nice, should at least have a cover
- The pool table is a mini-pool table and not a regulation one - photograph makes it look bigger than it is
- Some of the vents needed to be cleaned as there was dust build-up
- TV remote was sticky and was tough to use
- Garage door needs to be fixed and didn't open cleanly when we tried to open it - kept getting caught on some metal wires by the door
- Lightbulbs in the kitchen were burnt out and needed to be replaced
- Kitchen cabinet doors need to be tightened and realigned
- Water dispenser in the fridge is sticky and didn't stop causing water to overflow - needs to be cleaned/tightened
Overall, solid place and worked well for us. Would have been better if these details were taken care of.
I will start with the positive. It was a good location to stay with a large group. The beds were made. Bath towels were set out. No hand towels, washcloths or kitchen towels.
We arrived and checked in.
Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives. I sent a long message to the owner. 23 hours ago, with no response. I felt it was important to alert him to our concerns.
When we first arrived, we quickly noticed that the kitchen was filthy. The stovetop had debris on it and was just plain dirty. There was a box of hot chocolate packets that were eaten by a rodent. there were droppings in the kitchen cabinets, and under the sink. They were also mouse droppings upstairs in the bedrooms
The carpet did not look like it had been cleaned/vacuumed. One bedroom still had trash on the floor, beef jerky, and pop tarts, the primary bedroom had half a bottle of Johnny Walker black in the dresser, there was also a used cleaning rag on top of the dresser. The shower glass in the primary bathroom was filthy with soap and shampoo scum, mold on tile.
The full bath in the hallway upstairs was truly not operational. The diverter for the shower did not work, and it also did not drain, the handle for the shower fell off, we fixed it with the screwdriver left on the toilet. When the shower ran, the water seemed to dump off out of a pipe into the backyard. I could go on, but they do not give me enough space to finish this review.

Work trip gone terribly wrong.
I hate to leave a bad review like this but this experience was unacceptable.
2 full days of driving(11 - 12 hours each day), Four man work crew from KC to Boston area. We arrived and the door code did not work. Repeated attempts to text and call the host went without success. Contacted VRBO and they too were unsuccessful to reach host. By some stroke of luck we found an unlocked window after 45 minutes - an hour of standing out in the cold weather.
Finally inside we were able to settle in for the night. Contact from the host was made following day, at 10AM, as we were on jobsite working. Said he had an emergency?!! YES, So did we!!
Said the code should now work. That evening the code did actually work. Fast forward to the night before checkout. Came back to the house and it seemed cooler, thermostats indicated that as well. The heater and water heater wasnt working properly.
Next morn all of us woke up to a cold house and NO HOT water at all. One Rec type family room to the house had an electric heater that was the only source of heat we could find. This room is on first floor. Our bedrooms were on second floor. I am guessing after all said and done, the gas to the house was off? Needless to say it made for a great two day drive back to KC.
I will wait to hear from the host and VRBO to see if they will be reimbursing me for any of these issues.
If it hadnt been for these issues, the place was otherwise a decent place to stay.
VRBO was no help at all either.
Spacious house with plenty of sleeping room for a large group of 10. Deck and pool were clean, decently sized, and private! Quiet neighborhood. Perfect place for a weekend getaway with friends out of state. Would definitely recommend and will stay again! Michael, the host, was flexible and hospitable. He was easy to get in touch with. What a wonderful place!
very nice property, some dings and dents inside but tis' to be expected in a rental, property manager very responsive and caring, thought pricing was very fair considering everything that it came with, would definitely recommend.
