Located on the edge of the Harz with short paths for long walks (The cultural-historical pond landscape is open to hikers) or in winter for skiing (Bad Sachsa, Braunlage, Hohegeiß, etc.). Shopping facilities in the village. Naturbadesee about 2 km away from the apartment.

The former Cistercian monastery Walkenried from the 12th Century was extensively restored and can be visited. In the cloister every summer the Walkenrieder monastery concerts.
