About this property
Rustic and Cozy Lakefront Retreat
Are you ready for a digital detox? Our beloved family cabin is the perfect place to connect with nature and loved ones, with none of the usual day to day distractions. Rustic and quaint, Camp Corder can best be thought of as upscale Minnesota Glamping.
Drive in on the scenic byway HWY 38, especially fantastic for viewing Minnesota’s fall colors. You’ll turn off on to a quiet dirt road where the abundant forest canopy creates almost a tunnel like feel and for nearly a mile, and passing another car or encountering another person is a rare occurrence. It’s clear before you even arrive at Camp Corder that you’ve left the chaos of life behind in favor of tranquility and simplicity.
Once you do arrive, you’ll find the cabin in keeping with the tone of the forest and perfectly suited to it’s environment. Many of the original 1960's finishes have been complimented by vintage decor to keep the classic MN Up North getaway vibe. The main cabin has two bedrooms (one queen and one with a full sized bunk bed), a handmade wood burning fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen (no hot water). When the need arises, our outhouse is the most comfortable outdoor restroom you'll ever visit- with running water and a heated and private outdoor shower.
Camp Corder is great for unplugging- no wifi, no telephone, no TVs. You’ll have cell phone service, which we generally only use to play our summer fun playlist via Bluetooth speaker.
The deck overlooks the stunning and quiet Grave Lake, where hummingbirds and wildlife love to visit. Our lakeshore is equipped with a small beach, a dock with bench for fishing or relaxing and plenty of toys for playing on the lake (kayaks, SUP, floats, etc). The public lake access is right next door, bring your boat to enjoy on our 525 acre lake! Cook your meals over the fire or on our charcoal grill and dine al fresco on the deck. As the stars come out over the lake and the loons call into the evening, the fire pit with it's comfortable camp chairs beckons you- don't forget the ingredients for s'mores, we've got the roasting sticks all ready for you! If the weather chooses not to cooperate, you can always find shelter from rain from the covered porch on our adjacent garage/bunkhouse (interior of bunkhouse not included in rental).
Camp Corder is nestled within the Chippewa National Forest, surrounded by more than a million acres of spectacular forest, with 1300 lakes, 923 miles of rivers and streams- all directly accessible from the cabin. Step out for a hike or hop on your ATV and explore hidden lakes and trails.
Grand Rapids is about 25min from Camp Corder and has every amenity you could need as well as a great farmers market, a museum and ATV/Jet Ski rentals. Closer to home, the small town of Marcell is about 10 miles away and has a general store with all the necessities and restaurant options- all accessible via ATV, if you’d prefer!
Camp Corder is a cherished family heirloom, built by hand in 1960 by my grandfather, Floyd Bergstrom. For 3 generations now, my family has found connection and peace among these trees- sharing our love for the great outdoors with our children, family and friends. We’d love to share the magic of a classic MN cabin weekend with you and yours as well!

About the host
Hosted by Jake and Leah Corder

Hi! We're the Corders' and we're pleased to meet you! We're both business owners who work hard on the daily to grow our businesses into legacies for our family. Because we work so hard, we decided that it's imperative to play extra hard whenever we can- we love adventures, boating, ATV riding and pretty much any activity enjoyed out in nature! It's more important to us than anything else that we show our kids how to embrace life's abundant opportunities for fun and nature's endless gift of peace. We love sharing our crazy rambunctious lifestyle with our friends and family as well!
Why they chose this property
Camp Corder means everything to us. A treasured family heirloom for 3 generations, the cabin is more than just a place to go to relax- the simplicity of the property combined with the magic of the forest feels like it's own lifestyle. We love bringing our friends and family to enjoy it with us, making fun new memories every time we visit. This property is the antidote to so many of life's struggles- a place to just be- we decided it would be a bit selfish of us to keep it all to ourselves. We hope you'll fall in love with it, too.
What makes this property unique
Camp Corder is unique in it's balance for having everything you need and nothing you don't. We use the time and place to unplug completely and are always amazed at the benefits of removing electronics from the equation within our family. Suddenly the kids get along, find play in the woods and really come alive! We're a closer and stronger family for having this place to retreat to together.
