About this property

La petite maison Bois et Soleil

The Bois House (as it has always been called) has joined forces with the Occitan sun to become: “The Little House of Wood and Sun.” Discover the Ségala, a wild and distinctive region nestled between the Viaur Valley and the mining heritage. Between the Tarn and Aveyron departments, the Viaur Viaduct (1902) spans the valley and its “traverses”—3,800 metric tons of steel—seeming to float there, as light as a feather, a harmonious blend of engineering and nature. Discover the Chapelle des Planques at the end of a shaded path, the Thuriès Dam with its 1920 power plant, and a whole network of hiking trails. Known for its mining history, Carmaux—the hometown of Jean Jaurès—is proud of its identity, reflected in its landmarks: the Château de la Verrerie, the “Bureau de la Mine,” the “Centrale,” parks, and the Mining Museum. All amenities and services are available: restaurants, shops, a Friday market, and a movie theater. Just 5 minutes away, you can enjoy the cool waters of Lake Roucarié: supervised swimming, a fitness trail, a playground, and rowing. For fun, family-friendly activities, there’s Cap’découverte, a multi-recreational center built on the site of the former open-pit mine near Carmaux. Just 30 minutes away, you can reach either Albi or Rodez, with their historic centers and museums dedicated to Toulouse-Lautrec or Soulages, or to the Cité de Cordes-sur-Ciel via Monestiés—two of the most beautiful villages in France. The vacation rental is a unique wooden house built of stacked logs, completely detached. Air-conditioned living area on one level: - fully equipped open kitchen: oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave... - living area with TV and bookshelf - bedroom with a 140x190 cm double bed - bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink Covered patio with a grill and garden table, small enclosed garden, parking. In this “Petite Maison Bois et Soleil” layout, access to the two upstairs bedrooms is closed off, but you can find the “Maison Bois et Soleil” in a 6-person configuration with reference number 81G1895 on Gîtes de France. Sheets, towels, and linens provided.
