The charming town - the climatic health resort of Plau am See - with its picturesque old town is located directly on the western shore of Lake Plauer and the Müritz-Elde-Wasserstrasse and is the western gateway to the Müritz region or Mecklenburg Lake District. The old town is still characterized by the half-timbered and brick houses of the farmers. The Plauer See, the seventh largest lake in Germany, with its almost 39 km² is a true water sports paradise, whether sailors, anglers or just for swimming.
