Quiet stay & dog heaven
Quiet, quaint, rustic cottage on large property with tons of privacy - couldn’t even see any neighbors from the cottage. We visited in the off-season and there were 6 of us adults with 2 dogs. Beautiful property to sit out on the large deck or by the fire pit. Dogs loved being able to be off-leash, explore the woods, and swim. If you’re looking for a fancy place in a tourist area with lots of dining/drinking establishments, this location isn’t for you, but if you want charm & quiet, this is the real deal. Bar Harbor is about 45 min. away by car or by the Winter Harbor ferry (highly recommend) which allows dogs. Bar Harbor is very walkable and dog friendly. We bought lobster & scallops at a seafood market in Winter Harbor and shopped for groceries at Winter Harbor Provisions which had a nice selection. Cottage was clean with plenty of towels and pretty much everything we needed. While the kitchen was small, it was well appointed & even had some pantry items. Owner left us a bottle of wine which was really sweet & thoughtful. Fridge is on the small side so we were glad to have coolers to help with overflow food storage. Cell phone reception ok, but internet via phone was mostly non-existent. One minor maintenance issue (bathroom door in primary bedroom wouldn’t close), but other than that, the cottage was well-maintained. We had lots of laughs playing cards & telling stories around the kitchen table. Wonderful stay….thank you!

Anniversary Celebration
Our family gathered to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The cottage was perfect for the nine of us. The grandchildren loved the loft ‘kid zone’ and hiked the property looking for specimens which they proudly displayed! The sun room was the favorite gathering spot for the adults as our day wound to an end. Highly recommend for family groups!

Lovely place to relax near the quiet part of Acadia
We were so glad we decided to stay on the Schoodic peninsula and Katie's place is wonderful. Our kids had a fantastic time in the marsh by the water (bring mucking boots and bug spray--the outdoor shower was clutch in de-mudding kids and dog), and we we were able to see so many stars at night removed from the bigger towns. From the house it's easy to get to each of the little fishing villages on the peninsula, and taking the Winter Harbor Ferry to Bar Harbor was a highlight of the trip. We also enjoyed the quieter Schoodic part of Acadia much more than the very crowded Mt. Desert side. The house is very comfortable and housed our multigenerational family of 10 perfectly. Katie is wonderful host who left wine for us and gave us a loaf of her delicious sourdough bread. The only downside (for my husband and kids--I was fine) was that we hardly got any cell service at the house. We knew there would be no wifi (which was a selling point for me), but not having much cell service made things a little tricky (note: we have Verizon, but my family members who had ATT had better service at the house). I highly recommend this place if the goal of your trip is to relax, unplug, and enjoy nature.

The way life should be
We had a fabulous week! Absolutely beautiful and peaceful location. Near Acadia (Schoodic region) as well as many other places to hike. We rented canoe/paddle boards from Acadia 1 watersports who delivered. The house itself provided everything our group needed. Would definitely stay again. They even had wine waiting for us. Most appreciated after a 12 hour drive - certainly kickstarted the vacation!

Lovely place!
We had a wonderful time! The house was great and the area was very peaceful. We brought our kayaks and had a great time out on the water a couple days. Definitely time the tide for easy access in and out which limits time some. Also keep in mind this is not a city area. In this sleepy little town most everything closes at 7 or 8 pm so plan accordingly. That was something we were definitely not used to. The Schoodic peninsula part of Acadia National Park is just 10-20 minutes away. An easy ride and some from our group really enjoyed cycling there. The hosts were wonderful! They left fresh eggs and delightful wine for us. They also brought wood for us when we needed more. Plenty of towels and linens available throughout the home. We stayed in the master BR which was very roomy with its own bathroom. Guests stayed in the smaller rooms but no one complained about the size. Our teens stayed in the loft. And our dogs had the best week of their lives..oh, and the outdoor shower was great for cleaning up ourselves and the dogs before entering the house. For outdoor lovers this is a perfect spot for enjoyment of the beautiful Maine coastlines and Acadia but still have a cozy place to rest. Acadia proper is a bit of a drive (about 45 min-1 hour). We didnt use the ferry but i saw there was one in the Schoodic area diwn the road available to ferry over. Over all, great secluded location, lovely house, awesome hosts!
