We really enjoyed our stay. Place was as advertised. We loved the privacy and seclusion. The fire pit was great as was the back deck. Only issue we had was some of the dishes in the cabinets had not been cleaned. But everything else was clean. We would stay there again. Great for a quiet getaway with good beach access.
very quiet, liked the forest setting.Forgot to mention to owner that one chair leg in the dining room has a loose front leg.

Not as close to the lake as advertised. Beach that is closest is rocky and small. You are better off going to White Fish Dunes/state park. Renters guide needs serious updating although issues we had with heat on our first night were quickly resolved. Owner responded quickly by sending Handy Max to us. He was a nice guy and very helpful. Not a bad place but also very remote and takes some driving to get anywhere.

Lots of breakout space for quiet reading,
Intimate conversations, sharing memories with laughter...loved the bike ride to our 5 family's shared house on the lake. Kitchen was well stocked for home prepared meals

Hidden Glidden is Cozy and Relaxing.
Our family spent 3 days at Hidden Glidden cottage and had a great time. It is conveniently located near Whitefish Dunes State Park, which has an excellent beach. The amenities were numerous, and the cottage has a nice layout with multiple options for enjoying relaxation time. We loved being in Door County and not overcome by tourists!

Hidden cottage
The online pictures are not accurate. The cottage needs a remodel.
This cottage is in a great location, tucked away in the woods for privacy but walkable to a public beach. We enjoyed the bonfire pit and grill. The cottage space is as advertised. If you’re looking for something that feels sanitized this is not it, there are a lot of knick knacks and decorations that are dusty and the sofas didn’t seem to have been vacuumed before our stay but the sheets and towels smelled freshly washed. We saw a prior review that commented on a lack of window treatments but didn’t find this to be a problem at all, with the forest canopy shading the cabin it didn’t get too bright in the bedrooms. We would be happy to come back!

Simply Awesome!!!
My wife and I bought my parents a weekend at the Hidden Glidden Cottage as a gift for their 40th wedding anniversary. They absolutely loved this place! The cottage is in a secluded area across from Lake Michigan. Even though are plenty of things to do around Sturgeon Bay, my parents said they stayed in at the cottage on two of the nights because it was so relaxing. They grilled out and walked to the beach. If you want a great meal out, the Glidden Lodge is right down scenic Glidden Road, which they enjoyed on their 3rd night. My parents raved about the Hidden Glidden Cottage. I think I'll rent the place for my wife and I in the future. Finally, the owner, Kevin, was as easy to deal with as anyone I've ever dealt with. Thanks for showing my parents a great time and thanks for making it easy for me!!!

Tim, we are so glad your parents enjoyed the cottage! Thanks for letting us know. We would love to welcome you and your wife as well as your parents for a visit anytime!
Booked for 4, 2 could not make the trip. The bed we used was very comfortable. Arrived in the dark. All outside flood lights were burned out. Grilled by flashlight. Found mouse droppings on kitchen counters and in dishes. Cleaned up. They were back the next morning. Bought paper dishes and mouse traps. We did not use the counters for food prep or dishes to eat. We swept and vacuumed the kitchen floor. We cleaned pots and bowls we had to use. Found 4 of many bulbs in closet were still good. Replaced floodlight bulbs with regular bulbs. 3/4 bath hand soap dispenser was empty. Toilet paper would have run out with 4 people. Was chilly at night, no dry firewood provided for 1st fire. Had to use aux electric heat. Two old couches were adequate but not comfortable for sitting. A comfy chair or two would have been a nice touch. Tried to watch Netflix but movies stopped and spooled. Tubi worked. We didn't really plan to watch much TV. Carpets were stained. Evidence of more mice on the floors so we didn't walk in bare feet. We tried to spend as much time exploring DC as we could and not in the cottage. We Left the morning of 10/14/25. Saw more droppings in the bowl we had washed, used, and re-washed. We left a note for the owners in that bowl and a box of burned out light bulbs by the door. We think this review would have been much less critical had we not walked into and continued to put up with the mice and been able to see on the deck. We never really settled in after that.

Was not the right home for our family
This was the first time we stayed in the Sturgeon Bay Area, usually stay in Fish Creek. Absolutely fell in love with this location. It is a short drive to Whitefish Dunes Beach and 1/2 hour to Penninsula State Park. This was the second time we have used a VRBO house and this owner was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions especially where to dine. We ate every night at the Donnie Glidden Supper Club which is a few minutes up the road. I wish this property had worked out for us but sadly it did not. When going back and looking at the photos, they are obviously not all current. I think perhaps VRBO should require new photos every so often. Upon arrival, the grounds were not well kept. The step on the deck is in need of fixing. The sheets and some towels were badly stained and do need replacing. The smaller bedroom mattress has a foam pad on it that would bunch up making it uncomfortable. It needs a better cleaning. The one issue that concerned us was the master bedroom bathroom light fixture. The lens cover was obviously missing and replaced with a piece of cloth held up with thumb tacks. Perhaps the owner was not aware of these issues and so I did advise him. For a smaller house they made good use of furniture placement and the sofa is newer. The beach access was a bit farther than we had hoped but you can drive there. Unfortunately , the beach area was smaller and not as sandy as we expected. We still were able to have a good time.

Thank you for the positive comments about dealing with us. We are very sorry that you did not seem to understand the style of the place is relaxed and woodsy. The photos are current. The house is cleaned after every use. We apologize for the mice droppings and will review better inspection with our cleaning crew. The linens are periodically replaced and we are sorry that this guest did not find them satisfactory. Obviously, you can't please everyone. Please read our other reviews to get a balance perspective. This guest is retaliating because they locked our garage (which was intentionally left unlocked, because there is presently no key), and we advised them that they may be liable for locksmith charges, if they could not get it open - which they did end up doing. The bathroom fixture cloth covering is in an effort to soften the look, and does not touch anywhere near the bulbs or wiring, so is not in any way a hazard. We will review the matress pad as well, as we were not aware of this issue. With regard to the beach, it is the Lake Michigan shoreline, so the sandiness and size are the result of nature and the depth of the lake, which changes based upon nature. Perhaps this guest, having never before stayed on the Lake side of Door County, is unaware of this.
The cottage setting was pretty, and I think would be even more so in the summer. With all the trees surrounding the house this time of year, it felt a little damp.
The housekeeping could use some improving. I know the owners use a service but things were not as clean as I would have expected. The beds were very comfortable.
Great little cottage in a perfect location. We had plenty of room to relax and enjoy our time in Door County. The screened in porch and table tennis in the garage were highlights. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Beds were comfy and the great room had plenty of room to watch a movie or ball game. It was a short walk to the lake and we could actually hear the relaxing sound of the waves while sitting on the deck. Thank you for sharing your cottage!
What a relaxing week! We had a vehicle breakdown just two days into our stay. (reached out to Kevin and he went out if his way to try and get us a good local repairman) We had brought our bicycles so we rode them up to Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point right from the cottage. Walked to the public beach at least twice a day to stroll along the lake or sit in our chairs to soak up some sun while relaxing to the sound of the waves crashing. The cottage had everything we needed. We brought our own spices and other necessities for cooking. The grill was great. We are missing the peaceful sounds of the owls, various birds and the Lake Michigan waves. Highly recommend!
Home was charming, with some great outdoor relaxation spaces. Wished we would have stayed during warmer weather to have enjoyed them. Very lovely cottage for a girl's weekend!!

My wife and I and our two young adult daughters live in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We would love to have you and your family as our guests in our home away from home.
Why they chose this property
My family and I have traveled to Door County since I was a child. My wife and daughters so loved spending time at my parents' home down the road, that we all decided that we wanted to own our very own slice of paradise.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the very homey feeling that our property has. It is a very comfortable home with many places for relaxation.
