About this property

Historic Townhouse, Private On Site Parking & Private Courtyard Garden

The townhouse is located near the center of the historic district ( IN THE NORTH EAST SECTION), neighbors are mostly retired in the neighborhood. We welcome families with children 12 years old and older. This home has no safety features for the staircase it's original and not safe for small children.
This circa 1871’s townhome was built by Avelle Goerz, a female German Immigrant. The home is almost all original construction, an addition has been added to the back of the home for modern kitchen and bathrooms.
The main part of the home has the original heart pine floors, pocket doors, four fireplaces, the original woodwork and stair case. All to give you the feel of what it was like in 1870's living in Savannah. The home has many antiques and art that we have collected over the years, the primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom connected to the bedroom with antique deep cast iron tub . The second bedroom is in the front of the home on second floor as well, connected to the balcony. The main bathroom is on the second floor with a shower, there is a half bath under the stair well, on the main floor. The parlor faces Liberty Street, Dining Room, then Kitchen to the back of the home that open to the Courtyard and Private Parking.
Amenities include a washer/dryer unit, dish washer, Cable, Flat Screen smart TV, Wi-Fi, central heating & cooling two systems upstairs and down both have separate thermostats you must set at the (same temperature) for maximum comfort level.

Essential items provided for guests. Toilet paper, Hand and body soap, One towel per guest plus extras, One pillow per guest plus extras, Linens for each guest bed, some extras. This is our only VRBO, is our second home and is stocked as such.

On site private Parking: (A PREMIUM IN DOWNTOWN SAVANNAH)
Parking is available for guests starting at check in time 4 PM to check out time 11 AM during the dates you have booked. If you want to park earlier or later approval from owner is required.

Towels provided at the townhouse can NOT to be used at the beach. Please place used towels in laundry Hamper in hall way upstairs.
Report any Appliance not working. Parking is for guests during the period of the stay. No early or late Parking is allow, unless approved by owner.
Soap and TP to start your stay. Any additional supplies will be the responsibility of the guest.

Wow, what a beautiful home! It really felt like we were guests at a friends home rather than staying in a rental. The property is beatifully decorated and comfortably appointed, the owner is very accommodating and it's in a great location for walking the Savannnah historic district. Historic homes, museums, city squares, the river front, shopping, dining and night life are all easily walkable.

We all loved the house! The place had a lot of charm and plenty of room for the four of us to spread out when need be. The included parking was super convenient and we were in walking distance to all the attractions. We were actually a little bummed it wasn’t listed as available for next St. Patrick’s Day. Steve’s place is located in a beautiful area, convenient to seeing historic/downtown and waterfront. It was so nice to have parking, which is hard to come by in Savannah. I'm a retired business man. I lived in this home and operated a business in Garden City for many years. When I first purchased the home, the addition was cinder blocks. I've since applied stucco and developed the courtyard. The parking area was gravel . I've since put pavers on the courtyard and parking area that accommodates two cars. On the other side of the alley (perry lane) was an open lot with a big American sycamore tree shading the large open area. The alley was rock and over the years new townhouses were built and the alley was paved. Now almost all the open lots have been filled with new builds. The row of townhomes my home is apart of was the first built on the block. The second half was built a few years later and if you notice has a different architecture.

Why they chose this property

The history and the homes. The 400 block of east liberty was built just after the civil war and looks just as it did then. The area is well lit and just enough off the main hustle of the city to be quiet and safe. With in just a few blocks famous eating establishments like the Pink house and bars like Pinkie Masters where President Jimmie Carter announced his run for president for the first time.

What makes this property unique

Parking is at a premium downtown; we have two private parking places on the property. We also have free parking in the front of the town house. The home is located between Habersham and Price Streets.
The front of my home was in the Clint Eastwood's Movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" as the Row house with the blue painted front door next to mine "Lady Chablis" came out of during the movie and walked in front of my home. We have Major Movie Studio here in Savannah so don't be surprised to see Movies being shot downtown.
