Everything was as advertised! Beautiful home with lots of charm. Clean and updated. Loved hanging out upside on the deck with gazebo and hot tub. Beach was beautiful and convenient. Location was relaxing away from the crowds.
This was our first time on Martha's Vineyard, and we could not have been more delighted with our stay. The central location of the property is perfect for daily exploration, and the home itself perfectly reflects the island... like a breath of fresh air, it is clean, comfortable, and cozy, beautifully appointed, and every comfort of home has been thoughtfully provided. We loved spending the cool, breezy evenings enjoying the outdoor fireplace and hot tub. The host is an absolute gem to work with... thank you for an extraordinary family vacation!
Excellent property - as described by Laura our host. We are very familiar with the island and we had a great stay. The property is located outside of Vineyard Haven reasonably close to Lambert's Cove area. You definitely need a car to get around, but with that, everything is easy. Very clean, quiet, and well stocked. Laura was super responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
I appreciated the basically three rooms for our group of three adults and 2 toddlers. Kids enjoyed playing out side, and we made good use of provided beach towels and chairs, and outside shower. Very comfortable.
Our stay at Laura’s home was delightful. Everything in the listing was accurate to the experience, or better and we truly enjoyed our two-week stay. Communication with Laura was quick, easy and thorough and she provided so much ahead of our trip to ensure we arrived prepared. Check in and out was simple. The neighborhood was very peaceful and the proximity to miles of trails right at the end of the street was amazing for long walks, free of traffic and crowds. The house was set up well for a long stay, beds were incredibly comfortable and having individual AC units in the rooms was nice for different temperature housemates. We would highly recommend Oakhaven for a blissful trip and stay on the vineyard and would absolutely book again!
Nice place to stay but make sure hot tub is working before you arrive!
Pros:
-amazing access to a wonderful paved bike path which was great for my family (husband + 3 kids, ages 6 - 10)
-on a very quiet road (house is set back from road)
-nice open floor layout on first floor
-comfortable living room seating (couches and chairs)
-great outdoor space (including old tennis court (no nets), with two basketball hoops)
-lots of parking
-nice upstairs (2 bedrooms with 3 beds total)
-cool deck on the back of house, including an outdoor shower on the side of the house with hot water!
Cons:
-22+ minute drive to any town center (VH, OB or Edgartown)
-basement is very musty...so much so we couldn't sleep down there (there's an additional bedroom and bathroom)
-no bathroom on first floor
-hot tub was broken during our stay (which was a prime driver for renting this property in early October). Owners couldn't get it fixed during our stay and only offered $150 reimbursement. When this happened at another property, oddly enough on the Vineyard, we were offered a free night stay OR one night reimbursement - which is what I requested to owner, who refused, which was a bit disappointing.

Rebekah and her lovely family quickly brought to our attention trouble with our new hot tub heating to the set point during her brief 3 night weekend stay. (The tub is new just this season and has been working fine all summer with no issues.) We immediately sent out two different technicians, even in the rain, to troubleshoot the low heat issue at considerable expense. We had the tub heating quickly to 104 degrees Monday morning; nevertheless, we are sorry they were unable able to enjoy the tub.
We live in a beautiful bucolic area and the basement area is not for sleeping nor is it advertised as such. There are 2 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the living room for guests. We strive for 5-star service and work hard to meet our guests expectations. As owners, we value the feedback of our guests and address all responses from our guests quickly to help them have a memorable experience at Oakhaven.
