Worry-free Booking: we provide $1500 accidental damage protection at no extra charge in case something gets damaged!
Instant Booking is available for your convenience; please note that we reserve the right to cancel your booking if we find out your group does not meet our requirements. You will be required to provide a photo ID prior to check in and the address on the ID must match the address on your payment method used for booking. We require a signed contract for renting--you will be emailed the link to the contract. You will be asked for the full names of all members of your group, and the ages by count. No visitors, other than those listed, are permitted at the house at any time.
Just a reminder: CFAR insurance is HIGHLY recommended if you would be upset to lose part, or all, of your prepaid rent for this stay, based on the cancelation policy. Be forewarned: Covid closures of events, travel restrictions and fear of Covid exposure are all invalid reasons for cancelation under our policy. For those not wishing to purchase insurance, other options include (a) renting properties which allow last minute cancelation, or (b) wait to book until right before your trip, after you know your group can make the trip.
What makes our cabin different than others in Shaver Lake? We have air conditioning (rare in our community.) We are in a very quiet area, so you are not right on top of other groups. We are handicap accessible on the ground floor, including a wheelchair ramp and roll-in shower. We have a spacious house that was designed for larger groups so you have plenty of seating for hanging out, we are kid and pet friendly, we have a walking trail across the bottom of our acre plus yard, plenty of parking space, really nice kitchen utensils and place settings, we make up the beds for you before you come, we have a gas BBQ, and--well, so many other nice features!
Nestled deep in the majestic western Sierras (but easily accessible by road) our 4,000+ square foot retreat with its spacious kitchen, 4.5 baths, 8-12 person bunkroom (3 full over full and 1 twin over twin), 3 big master bedrooms (one with an in-room two person Jacuzzi jetted tub), living room, den, man-cave with surround sound hi-res TV, this retreat has an atmosphere of quiet and comfort.
Fall, spring and summer guests enjoy spring skiing, hundreds of miles of hiking and bike trails (one even passes through our backyard), popular 4 wheel drive roads, rock climbing, world class freshwater fishing (lake and stream, stocked and native), swimming and nature viewing.
Winter Guests enjoy spectacular downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and sledding.
Upstairs and garage are wheelchair accessible, with a bathroom & shower for wheelchair access. The Man Cave offers a place to just hang out and make noise without bothering anyone else.
The constant on-demand water heater never runs out of hot water so you have plenty! Fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, all cooking gear, and a table seating 12 at a time.
Electric power can be turned off here (and in any other areas in California considered "high risk for fire") by the electric company, without warning. Storms can also turn off electric. This means wi-fi, air conditioning, possibly cell phone connection, lights, TV will all be off. We do NOT offer refunds for lack of electric service. There is emergency lighting and heat and cooking by wood stove available.
There is a hiking trail off the back of the property, so you can hike most seasons (or snow shoe during the winter months) without driving anywhere. This is a very quiet neighborhood so you can really enjoy nature without seeing a lot of people; deer, coyote, raccoons and other creatures amble across the property all day and night. The roads and the driveway are cleared by a snow plow, so you won't be stuck in a large storm. There is a large deck to hang out on and enjoy the woods. A gas BBQ is available for outdoor grilling. Lots of extra chairs and tables available for large events. Dishes and tableware are of high quality.
Please review our refund policy before booking and purchase the appropriate travel insurance, as needed. If you are worried about losing money due to cancelling the reservation, consider Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) insurance.

About the host
Hosted by Dottie Natal

I love the Sierras! Hiking, swimming, fishing, skiing, horseback riding--all this and more! My favorite place in the world is Shaver Lake. I love to draw and paint, breathe the fresh piney air, and spend as much time as I can in Shaver Lake.
Why they chose this property
After visiting the Shaver Lake area nearly every summer since 1969, my husband and I purchased a bare lot and built our house. I designed it and drew the blueprints and my brother did most of the construction (though I built the deck with the help of my sister and several women friends.) All the photos and artwork in the house are mine. I do the "decorating" and maintain the house, while my husband Dave maintains the yard and helps with the Spring and Winter cleans. I designed the house to be comfortable for large groups of people, with plenty of meeting and sitting areas, lots of sleeping options, and nice views from the various rooms.
What makes this property unique
You'll love the master bedrooms (get away from it all) and the Man Cave. You will find the hiking trail that crosses near the bottom of the property a lot of fun--you can hike or snow shoe for many miles without crossing a road. It's so quiet and peaceful in the mountains you will have a chance to really unwind and relax. Unlike most other rentals in Shaver Lake, we provide made up beds for you so you don't have to do this yourself.
