Ideally located on Weeks Bay just south of the 98 bridge, you will find the very last home before Fish River opens up to Weeks Bay. Do you Chase a sunset? You will have one every day of the year here, and even when its cloudy somehow the most spectacular sunsets emerge! Looking to fish? Catch a mess right off the pier or head out the gulf. Clean them right out on the dock and then have fresh fish for supper. The pier puts you out over the water and gives you 360 degree water views you will never forget. Need a boat dock? We have one. Trailer parking? You can launch your boat 1 mile away and park your trailer here. Want privacy? You will feel like your alone at a State Park. The Cabin was built in early 1960's . We call it the Last Shack. There is Plenty of room with a Large screened in porch with additional sleeping. The kitchen, dinning and living are all open and have views of Weeks Bay. No frills but amazing views and beautiful nature. Weeks Bay is a Wildlife Preserve and our cabin is nestled among it. Do you enjoy bird watching? Dolphins at back door? Fishing from a pier? We have all that on the property. But then You have Short drive to quaint Fairhope with many shops and restaurants. The best spa in the area is at The Grand Hotel 15 minutes away. My favorite for seafood is just a five minute drive. But the best view...You are on it! Kayaks are offered free of charge, but we do charge for boat docking.

We so enjoyed our vacation at The Last Shack right on the water. The cabin was so clean and comfortable. We loved the retro vibe and historical features they are preserving. The screened porch was our favorite spot watching the boats coming and going. Watching the wildlife was also a special treat; eagles, ospreys, flocks of seagulls and dolphins. Location was perfect being so private and yet convenient for day trips and eating out in Foley, Fairhope, Daphne, Robertsdale, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone and we hope to return in the future.
This awesome cabin is a perfect location to explore Weeks Bayou and the surrounding area. The hosts are amazing! House is well appointed rustic, strong AC, wonderful screen porch and waterfront yard, dock and boat access. Very comfortable.
It was a quiet, peaceful place to stay, just what we were looking for. The owner was awesome to deal with, checking in on us by call or text. Loved the views!
The house was a classic, quaint fishing cabin with vintage appliances and craftsman style finishes. The only suggestions we would make is upgrading the TV service satellite to get more than one local station and upgrading the wi-fi to include internet service. The debris from the house remodel and the pier rebuild are unsightly and should be removed. I would suggest to anyone staying there to bring their boat as the dock is very nice and Weeks Bay is a beautiful place to fish or just cruise around on a sunny afternoon. We would still recommend this property to anyone wanting to have a quiet place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
I lived here for 2 months and loved every minute of it. First, the hosts were great and we quickly became freinds. The dock is new and I loved having my boat on a lift there. Want to go fishing for an hour? Just drop the boat and go. There is also a boat ramp less than a mile away. I also did some crabbing and each time caught literally 100 in 3 days each time. Had 2 amazing crab boils. The house is older, but very comfortable with everything I needed. Beds were comfy and the den was also very comfortable. It had everything I needed, a smart TV and blazing fast internet. The kitchen was well stocked with all the plates, pots, pans and utensils I needed. A new coffee maker and microwave rounded it out. I loved the stove, it was an old time type, but cooked great. The screened porch was great for a quiet place to read, watch the sunset or have coffee. There is a new Publx grocery store only 15 min away, and downtown scenic Fairhope about 20 min away. At the shack, you feel like you are miles from anywhere. If you are looking for a rustic experience on an amzing bay near all the amenities you need, check out the last shack!!!
The last shack is like stepping back in time to your grandma’s tiny house with the best warm memories of staying outside till the sun goes down then gathering in the small kitchen to cook what you caught and sleeping like worn out lol kids. Don’t expect 5 star accommodations just like you wouldn’t at granny’s old house. But do expect clean beds, a nice tub, sunshine, seagulls laughing, crab traps, fishin lines and cold drinks. (Forgot how hard it is to be patient when waiting on crabs in a trap)Sometimes we put too much into the “finishes” of a place but forget about the simple pleasures of making memories over making over the paint on the soft close cabinets(none here so don’t expect it) We had the BEST (hottest ha) fresh crabs ever and will never forget laughing as our tears ran hot and tried not to touch it with our five alarm hot boiled seafood fingers!! A memory unlike any other VRBO.
Guys spent all their time on the awesome dock..caught a couple big ones that we were able to cook in the very well stocked kitchen. Only regret was we didn't bring the boat.
We loved our stay! The check in process was SO easy, the owner sent very helpful instructions for local recommendations in the area, and the cabin itself was absolutely beautiful and clean! The view from the dock is one of the best I've ever seen. Couldn't have asked for a better trip. I would highly recommend this property.
Great rustic cabin with dock, kids enjoyed fishing and catching crab. We had a crab boil with the 12 crab we caught and the mornings and evenings on the back porch overlooking the water was SO relaxing. Thanks for having us!!! Jeff
Wow!!!!!! Quaint little cottage/cabin otherwise known as “The Last Shack” was such a nice surprise!
With an overall vibe of Rustic Farmhouse and Cottage Chic furnishings.
Sparkling clean windows with unobstructed views of the bay.
Very comfortable bed, Updated bathroom
Very large flat screen tv equipped Netflix, etc.
Relaxing on the large screened in porch in the morning with coffee and watching the amazing sunsets in the evening with your favorite beverage was a real treat!
Of course, the fishing/boat dock equipped with two boat lifts and a underwater green light for night fishing was a favorite too.
Short drive to good restaurants in Foley and Magnolia Springs. About a 40 minute drive into Gulf Shores Orange Beach area.
Very secluded, quiet...not a condominium.
Owners (15 minutes away) were very responsive with answers to questions.

About the host

Together with my husband, sister and brother-in-law we purchased this property and have spent many days bringing it back to life. My family is a farming family in the area and we have always longed for a spot on the water. A place to park the boats and leave them! No trailering. A place where we all can get together. No Frills, just hang out, boat and fish. I have been chasing a sunset all my life. I LOVE sunsets. This property has the best sunsets you can imagine.
Why they chose this property
So ....the story goes....Thirty or so years ago the property to the north, the one with a really nice home and boat dock, was for sale. At that time the house was not there, just a tiny boat house. But it was For Sale. I would drive up to the water, park and call the realtor. The property was expensive. I could not afford it. But I would continue to go down and visit the property and call the realtor. The price got down as low as they were going and I knew I would just never be able to afford it. I turned over my shoulder and looked at our now cabin, and said, Lord, if that home is ever on the market please let me be in a position to buy it!! Well, Im a realtor now, and low and behold the property came on the market. I knew right where it was located, called the family and headed down to be greeted by a large pod of Dolphins! We didn't have an easy time purchasing as there were Mutiple offers. But we finally came out the winner. God answered my prayer and he his timing was perfect!!
What makes this property unique
This home has amazing sunsets, huge screened in porch, unbelievable wildlife, fish and fowl. A boat dock and pier that really puts you out over the water. If someone placed you here you would think you were in the middle of a secluded state park. You can fish off the pier and fry up supper. So very private. You can sit on the dock and relax. You can build a fire and watch the sunset in the fall and winter or hang your feet in the water off the dock in the summer. Kayaks are available free of charge. There are mooring whips to safely dock your boat. You will relax!!
