About this property

Cloth merchant's house (3 levels).

Cottages and Bed & Breakfasts of character in the heart of Brittany in St-Thélo in the Côtes d'Armor ...
Manor in St-Thélo: Cottage and bed and breakfast in Brittany - Cotes d'Armor - St-Thélo Loudéac Mur de Bretagne

This linen merchant's house dates from 1735 and is made up of a set of U-shaped buildings. This house was built by Mr Yves Glais (born on 8 August 1698, 35, Dinard Saint-Enogat) and his wife, Mrs Suzanne Le Deist (born on 29 November 1688, 22, Le Quillio), from a family of cloth merchants who made the wealth of these people of Central Brittany from the 17th to the beginning of the 19th century.PGJyPg
The town of Saint THELO is known for the large number of Canvas Merchants' Houses, and as such, is the subject of particular attention from the Brittany region and the Cotes d'Armor department, the commune of Saint-THELO has also been classified as one of the "Communes du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne", as well as by the Fondation des Bâtiments de France.

A "LIN ROUTE" has been created in Côtes d'Armor, in order to promote these dwellings. This route passes through Le Pays Rochois, le Palacret, Quintin, and more specifically through Uzel, SAINT-THELO and Loudéac.

You will find in Saint-Thélo a Museum dedicated to Linen Canvases, open since 2004, and which has been twinned with the Weavers Museum in UZEL since 2010
