About this property

Exclusive & Private Island Getaway on the St. Lawrence River in the 1000 Islands

Luxurious, private and historic waterfront estate on 13 acres in the heart of the 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River. Enjoy your coffee in the morning from the porch overlooking The River, swim in our private cove, then go fishing or tubing with your family. A private, high-speed broadband link maintains connectivity with the mainland and enables remote work and videoconferencing. The home is under new ownership as of 2020 and has undergone some significant upgrades. The boathouse has deep dockage for 3+ boats (covered up to ~32 feet), including keeled sailboats.

THE ISLAND: Bluff Island is 2.5 miles NE of the Town of Clayton, and only reachable by private watercraft (we can assist with rentals). There are only four properties on the island, with trails for hiking, exploring and viewing wildlife. The estate features one of the only natural sand beaches in the 1000 Islands - perfect for swimming into the picturesque cove that is framed by the dramatic 100 foot granite bluffs for which the island is named.

BEDROOMS: Every bedroom is furnished with brand new Casper mattresses and new high thread count linens. You will get the best sleep of your life, with only the sounds of the loons and the occasional passing channel freighter audible at night.

ENTERTAINMENT: Brand new 62" smart TV with streamed live television, apps, AppleTv, etc. Sonos speaker system throughout the first floor and on the front porch.

KITCHEN: The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals to enjoy with your family and guests in the grand, wood paneled dining room with views of The River.

An Amazing Experience
My friends and I have stayed at several locations and islands over the years but few can compare to Bluff Island and our hosts Kieren and Campbell. The island has it all: privacy, beautiful fauna, deep water protected docks for 3 boats all undercover, deep water swimming area and a beautiful sandy beach. The house itself is an icon of the area. We spent a lot of time on the spacious front porch watching the freighters and boats go by and were even blessed with a double rainbow our first night there. The bedrooms are lovely and very comfortable with high quality linens and mattresses, 4 of which are king sized and that is a rare find on an island! Oh, did I mention the A/C! We loved it and hope to go back!

Captivating River House
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this historic waterfront home. It has plenty of space for a big crew. The house and grounds completely capture the charm of the Thousand Islands. We loved its close proximity to downtown Clayton and the ideal swimming environment. We can’t wait to visit again!

Iconic and Incomparable Thousand Island Property
My family and I have rented vacation properties in the Thousand Islands for several years and there is none more quintessential than The Bluffs. Mornings begin with coffee and a book sitting on the porch overlooking the water and mid day is spent down at the beach and dock floating in inner-tubes recounting antics of the night before. Sonos plays music throughout the house and the kitchen is stocked to accommodate multiple course, sophisticated evening dinners! Cameron and Kieran are fantastic hosts and we hope to spend many more summers vacationing in their beautiful home!

1000 Islands at its best
I grew up going to this area every summer. This house offers one of the best island experiences around. Kieran and Campbell have bought this 120 year old classic and are restoring it to its former glory. The beds and linens are heavenly, the verandah is perfection, and the swimming setup, with both shallow and deep entry points, is second to none. The owners are easy to reach, highly accommodating, and have a good local support network when they are away. All in all, the place is amazing. Everything in the house is either ancient or brand new, and they are rapidly going through and replacing (thoughtfully) the old stuff. So it will continue to get better over the coming years. All in all, very glad to see owners investing the place who have seem to have genuine love for this very special place.

1,000 Islands Fun
We had an incredible experience at what we called the “Red House.” Campbell & Kieren were amazing hosts and VERY responsive to questions. The property is beautiful! We enjoyed the swimming cove & kayaks, walking through the property and to the bluffs, morning coffee and evening wine on the porch while watching the ships cruise by (gorgeous view), and the convenient boat house for our daily excursions. My wife’s parents and my sister in law and nephew joined our family of 4 and we had more than enough room. The only downside was a week wasn’t long enough. We’ll be back! Highly recommend!
