Beautiful detached house in the mountains in Astrikas

My accommodation is in Astrikas, a small mountain village with about 150 inhabitants, near Kolymbari. You will love my accommodation because of the great view and the unlikely calm. My accommodation is well suited for couples, adventurers traveling alone and furry friends (pets) are also welcome.

Astrikas is a small village with about 150 inhabitants. It is set amongst acres of olive groves at an altitude of 200 meters just southwest of the larger coastal town of Kolymbari. Astrikas is known for its Biolia Olive Oil factory, where organic and high quality olive oil is produced. The views from the grounds of the factory on the back side is over the enchanting landscape and the very interesting village of Rokka and its excavations (this needs to be seen, gorgeous!).

You will love my accommodation because of the awesome view and the improbable peace.

The large elevated terrace with two sunbeds offers endless time of relaxation in your own private zone. You will enjoy your meals on the comfortable sitting and dining area with amazing views from it over the enchanting landscape.

Inside the house you will find a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bathroom with schower, WC and bidet and a spacious bedroom.

The location is ideal for exploring North-Western Crete combining peaceful rural living with close proximity to beautiful beaches and the venetian port of Chania.

A relaxing gem of a property in the heart of the Crete countryside

Our stay at Maria’s property far exceeded our expectations. It truly is a lovely comfortable house set in idyllic countryside . We chose this location and property to try to get away from our busy everyday lives at home and wanted to try the tranquility and countryside views that were described. It delivered on every level, actually from the moment we arrived. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with beaches and beautiful Chania town a short drive away, surrounded by nature and everyday Cretan life amongst the olive groves then I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. We will be visiting again very soon to recharge and refresh 😎 Thank you Maria and Michalis

Peaceful retreat

My girlfriend and I wanted to find a quiet place in Crete to relax, away from most of the tourists but not far from the coast and Chania town. This property is exactly what we were hoping to find for a reasonable price. There are a few houses in the surrounding area and there's a small village about half a mile away, so we didn't feel isolated but it is really peaceful here. The property is clean, comfortable and spacious. It has a modern feel with character and we felt totally at home. We really liked the kitchen/dining room where we spent a lot of time cooking, so quite important! The sheltered dining area on the patio is great anytime of the day and provides some welcome shade. Maria the owner is a pleasure to talk to and always helpful. We hope to stay here again soon!

lovely peaceful getaway property

the property is large and has great facilities. perfect for a couple , i really loved this place and can't complain as its great value for money and well worth the drive from the coast. Vrbo mistrakenly placed the property drop pin in the town of Kolymbari but was infact 15 minutes in land from the location they stated, this really inconvenienced us as we had family staying in the town and needed to be nearby , this was Vrbo's fault , not the property owner and will be making a complaint to them . the Property owner was pleasant to deal with and helpful and my only complaint would be that i had to contact someone else to get the key to the property but was not getting messages / calls back on whatsapp so felt a bit stranded at 1am with no key to the place, would have been easier if they had a security box and provide me a code to get the key myself as its not a good system to rely on neighbour/ friends to meet up on arrival . apart from that every thing was very good. i would actually stay again since its such a lovely accommodation and amazing location in the hills.

Wonderful cottage in hills of Crete

This is a wonderful cottage nestled in the hills of Crete surrounded by olive trees. The place is immaculately clean, and comes with plentiful amenities such as a full kitchen, a washing machine, an outdoor shower, and AC in the bedroom. The AC worked extremely well to keep the bedroom cool even though it was 95+F during the week. The kitchen was great with everything you could want (fridge/freezer/stove/etc). I didnt use it as I was eating out. I booked this place thinking it was closer to downtown Kolymbari...I'm new to VRBO and didn't realize the pin shown for the property on VRBO is not the actual location. I was attending a conference at the Orthodox Academy of Crete in Kolymbari which was a 20 minute drive through the mountains. I realize now the description does mention it's location in the hills (but I didn't know what that meant at that time) and I should have clarified this before booking. So my only negative was that it was not closer to Kolymbari and the OAC. I think this would be a great base of operations on Crete, but a car would be required to get around.

Astrikas, Crete.

We arrived on Wednesday 6th of September. We collected the rental car and headed towards our destination. We had already been advised by the owner that we would be met at the start of the village by her representative Michalis. The owner had already given coordinates and Michalis contact number. When we arrived at the village we rang him and he duly met us. Michalis guided us up to the property and shown us around. The villa is absolutely gorgeous. The back drop of the mountains in the distance is just perfect. The village was peaceful. Inside there was loads of finishing to cater for all your needs. Loads of patio to sunbathe in, sun beds! This villa is just lovely. Washing machine etc, air con! Having lived in Corfu & Kefalonia we was use to mingling with the locals as we use to live in a local enclosed village. If you are looking for isolation, peace and quiet with the mountains as your back drop, then take a look at this Villa. Myself and my wife loved everything about it. Nigel & Jaqs.

So schööön !!

Wir haben die Zeit in Marias Haus sehr genossen. Ein perfekt ausgestattetes, gepflegtes, sauberes Haus, in dem es an nichts fehlt. Die zwei Terassen und die Außendusche runden den Wohlfühlfaktor komplett ab. Wer himmlische Ruhe sucht und trotzdem nicht gänzlich von der Zivilisation abgeschnitten sein möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Das Dorf in schönster Berglage besticht durch sein angenehmes Klima. Es geht immer ein leichter (manchmal auch stärkerer) Wind, der selbst heiße Tage erträglich macht. Dazu besticht das Dorf und das Haus durch seine Lage. Als idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Natur, zum Baden ans Meer oder auch ins pulsierende Leben Chanias oder Kolymbaris...in relativ kurzer Fahrzeit ist irgendwie alles, für jeden Geschmack, erreichbar. Baden, Wandern, Natur und Geschichte erleben, tolle Tavernen mit bester griechischer (kretischer) Küche besuchen oder einfach mal Bummeln in der faszinierden, lebendigen Altstadt Chanias....und danach zurück in die Oase der Ruhe, in Marias Reich ! Wer es nicht erlebt hat, hat definitiv was verpasst !! Barbara und Robert

Hervorragendes Haus

Traumurlaub auf Kreta!

Wir haben in diesem Haus 2 wundervolle Wochen verbracht. Fernab vom Trouble kann mir hier richtig toll abschalten. Das Haus ist top gepflegt, hat alles was man braucht und bietet genügend Platz mit einer riesigen Terrasse! Wichtig zu erwähne ist, dass das Haus etwas in den Bergen liegt und man definitiv ein Auto braucht! Diejenigen die etwas Ruhe suchen und dem Alltagsstress entfliehen wollen, sind hier genau richtig aufgehoben!

Traumhafte Lage der Wohnung

Wir können unsere Vormieter gut verstehen, wenn sie die Lage des Hauses und die Wohnung selbst so positiv bewerten. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und die Ruhe und die große Terrasse sehr genossen. Auch das zirpen der Grillen war nicht aufdringlich, es passte einfach dazu. Es war durchweg sehr heiß. Darum haben wir auch die klimatisierte Wohnung sehr genossen. An Ausstattung hat es an keiner Stelle gefehlt. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das sehr große separate Eisfach. Wir waren rundum sehr zufrieden, darum kommen wir auch gerne im September wieder.

Hat uns sehr gut gefallen, war sehr erholsam in einer sehr schönen und ruhigen Gegend. Auch die Taverne To Faragi war richtig toll und eine sehr entspannte Atmosphäre mit einem tollen Wirt und sehr aufmerksamer Bedienung.

Ein toller Rückzugsort

Wir hatten eine wunderbare und erholsame Zeit in dieser tollen und ruhig gelegenen Unterkunft. Der Ausblick von der Terrasse ist wunderschön, die Küche ist toll ausgestattet und auch sonst hat uns nichts gefehlt. Ein toller Ort um den Nordwesten Kretas zu erkunden. Der Empfang von Michalis (Liebe Grüße) war sehr herzlich und der Kontakt zur Gastgeberin Maria lief schnell ukd reibungslos. Top Haus in toller Lage

Super Empfang durch Michalis. Check in und out waren ohne Probleme. In dem Haus fehlt es eigentlich an nichts. Von dieser Location kann man den Westen Kretas prima erkunden.

Ein "Urlaubs-Zuhause" für zwei Wochen

Wir haben uns in der Wohnung sofort heimisch gefühlt. Alles war sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die moderne Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll mit einigen alten Möbeln aufgelockert, an vielen Details merkt man, dass hier mit viel Liebe eingerichtet wurde. Mit der Vermieterin konnten wir jederzeit per WhatsApp kommunizieren und vor Ort war der freundliche Mihalis Ansprechpartner. Es war für uns eine interessante Erfahrung, einmal nicht direkt am Meer, sondern wie die Einheimischen in den Bergen zu leben.

Perfect place for our stay in Crete!

This was our first time in Greece and Crete. We are from the U.S. We initially chose the property because it was centrally located for all of our planned activities. It is a very peaceful place off the beaten path with a wonderful patio/balcony area. You can tell that a lot of time and effort has been put into the renovations of the property. It was very nice inside. Maria (the owner) was extremely helpful and kind. She responded to numerous inquiries and was always cheerful. If we visit Crete again we will definitely consider booking here! Thanks again Maria!
