BIS-Duck Resort - 3BR/2BA - Great Beach and Pools

This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the charming and quaint Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / biking proximity to multiple activities and dining options.

THE SPACE

From your unit you can walk to the Beach, Outdoor pool area, and the Sound. Being on the outskirts of the Town of Duck, you are just a short drive from shopping or dining along the 1-mile boardwalk located along the Sound. Some people can walk / bike this distance, but that depends on the family. In the evenings try not to miss some of the spectacular sunsets over the Sound.

This is a two level 3BR/2BA unit located in the 300 Building.

Level Two - Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 3 stools, Dining Table / 6 chairs, Living Room area with Loveseat and Queen Sleeper sofa, Fireplace, Master Bedroom with King size bed, Full size bathroom / shower, fairly large outdoor Deck has a Garden / Resort view and table / 6 chairs.

Level One - Foyer, 2nd Bedroom with Queen bed, 3rd Bedroom with 2 Twin beds, Full sized Bathroom, Laundry Room with Washer / Dryer.

This spacious 3BR unit at approximately 1,300sq ft is rated to sleep eight (8) persons. There is a Washer / Dryer inside your unit.

GARDEN / RESORT VIEW CATEGORY:

While the resort itself is Beachfront, this specific unit is located in the 300 Building (see property maps in the pictures section). This is near the middle of the property, but slightly closer to the Sound side.

It is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, but since this is a large 24+acre property that stretches from Sound to the Ocean, it can be a longer walk to the beach from certain sections of the resort versus other areas.

If you have a lot of beach gear, or small children, it might not be practical to walk to the beach from this unit in the summer heat (between 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile depending on unit location). Your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces provided if one is available.

STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:

Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.

There are no elevators at this resort. Almost all the units have a certain number of stairs leading to the Front Door of the unit. Some have interior stairs to a 2nd level, or depending on the specific unit configuration, as few stairs up or down to one of the bedrooms inside the unit. The number of stairs varies depending on the specific unit configuration, and whether the unit is considered first floor, second floor, or third floor. Typically the higher you go the better your view is from the outdoor decks.

BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.

For this specific unit: Please note that this unit has one of the better panoramic Garden / Ocean Views available at this Resort, because it sits on the highest point on the property. However this is also one of the units with the most steps. If steps are not an issue, the views are worth it.

UNIT INTERIORS:

This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar renovation project was started, and expected to be completed in phases thru 2024/2025.

Before the renovation started, most of the unit interiors were spacious and comfortable but very dated.

Please note this specific unit in the 300 Building section has been partially renovated. This unit has received new Flooring throughout, new furniture in the Living Room and bedrooms, new window coverings, newly painted in all rooms, and the Kitchen has been refreshed with cabinets being painted and new pull hardware (although countertops remain the same).

This listing covers multiple units of the same 3BR/2BA unit type / same unit layout. The renovations were the same for all the units, so the photos provided do accurately portray the interiors of the upgraded units but may not be your specific unit (depending on the week you book). I have also added photo(s) at the end of the interior photos that were taken inside some of the upgraded units by resort management. These also show the new flooring, furniture, newly painted interiors, etc.

The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the largest Outdoor Pool areas on OBX, private Guest access to a nice Beach, and a Recreation Center offering an Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Workout Room, and Activity Room.

This property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many shops and restaurants in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these spacious units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.

Many families enjoy their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more luxurious accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on AirBnB.

I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property, I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. So if you have any specific questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.

GUEST ACCESS

Your unit is private, but since this is a large Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Outdoor Games, etc).

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.

- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Capital Vacations / Vacation Resorts International (VRI). The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.

- Check In time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.

- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.

- Please note that once you Check In and get access to your unit, if you encounter any issues or concerns regarding Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc…please contact the Front Desk / Office IMMEDIATELY. The staff members on-site provide the best opportunity to get any concerns resolved in the fastest and most efficient manner.

- Three FREE parking passes are included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional vehicle you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.

- Bedding linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are provided. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.

- Please especially take note of the detail above about bed coverings. BIS-Duck provides Blankets but does NOT provide the heavier, bulkier Comforters that you may have on your bed at home.

- If you plan on using the Sleeper sofa(s) during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a mattress topper for the Sleeper sofa(s) specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable extra bed.

- Bath and Hand towels are provided for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.

- There is no daily housekeeping provided. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.

- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week (especially if there are specific brands you favor).

- Pool / Beach towels are not provided. Each family should bring their own heavier / larger Pool / Beach towels.

- You should bring your own Beach Chairs / Beach Blankets / Umbrellas / Coolers / Equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent Beach chairs / Umbrellas in the Town of Duck, or during most summer weeks on the beach out in front of the facility.

- Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bike rentals in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bike locks so you can lock up your bikes at the bike rack each night.

- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, just make sure you have the proper licenses. There are also many rental and charter boats for fishing based out of the various inlets if you wanted access to waters farther offshore.

- Pets are not permitted anywhere on or in the Resort property.

We love Duck! First time we have stayed in Barrier Island: Location was great, updates in the condo were very nice. Some construction going on in and around the building, but should be very nice once finished:

Perfect vacation !!
Barrier Station is the perfect place...something for everyone. The beach was beautiful, pool was sparkling, and the playground kept the kids busy. Nice location fir this Grandma's morning walks. Everything was close by...stores. restaurants, and adventures !!
