About this property

WEARS VALLEY Family Getaway ~ 3/3 ~ No Steep Drive ~ Game Rm ~ VIEWS

The perfect balance of location and seclusion, Firefly has something for everyone in your family. Located in beautiful Wears Valley, and tucked into Wears Cove below the Foothills Parkway, you'll be just 6 miles from Townsend and 9 miles from the Parkway and Pigeon Forge. Best of all, it's only a few short miles to the 'secret' entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park through Metcalf Bottoms, where you can take a beautiful mountain drive to all of the most famous overlooks and hiking trails-Alum Cave, Clingman's Dome, Laurel Falls, Cades Cove, even the back way to Gatlinburg. But have no fear-while you'll be close to all of the beauty and rugged adventures the Smokies have to offer, your arrival will not be one of them. You'll find us at the end of a paved road in a cul-de-sac, without curvy or steep mountain roads and no 4wd required! We have plenty of parking for you, and can accommodate those who tow specialty trailers up to 25'.

Keyless entry off the rear parking area and deck welcomes you into the updated and fully equipped kitchen, including coffee station with Keurig, French press and drip coffee makers. Instant pot with slow cooker setting, blender, hand mixer and toaster all provided so you can feel at home. If you want to do your shopping after you arrive, there are markets of various sizes in Townsend, Wears Valley and near the Parkway.

In the dining room, you'll see you are definitely in the Smokies as you enjoy your view of Cove Mountain. A large, welcoming dining table will accommodate everyone for family meals, or enjoy a beverage in front of the seasonal fireplace (Nov-Mar). Step out the front door onto the covered deck, and delight in the views while rocking away and catching up with your family. Every season is magical-from the spring blooms of the tulip poplar, the fragrant magnolia and hydrangea signaling the start of summer, to the gorgeous colors of fall, and even the sight of snow on the peaks of Cove Mountain. And you can't go wrong no matter the time of day-sunrise, sunset, moon rise or starry night!

Relax with everyone on the lower level in the family room with plenty of space to stretch out and watch a movie together. You also find an extensive collection of books for your stay, and a comfortable table for a sporting game of cards, Monopoly or one of many other board games available. You will also find plenty of space for everyone in Grandpa's Garage, a nostalgic nod to the rich automotive history in our own families as well as the many car enthusiasts who love to explore our area. Whether you choose to relax and take in the Big Game in one of the power recliners, or choose to become part of the game, we have you covered. Foosball, ping pong, and head-to-head mini basketball are all available as well as a selection of puzzles and board games for all ages. Challenge your family to giant Connect Four, Yard Yahtzee, cornhole or even jumbo Jenga, too! When the kids give up, take a break for snacks at the bar table. From Grandpa's Garage, you have easy access the expansive one acre property and the beautiful mountain view bonfire pit. Please note, due to the inherent risk of wildfire, occasionally Wears Valley will be put under a burn ban and the fire pit cannot be used. These restrictions are outside of our control. Guests of Firefly also have access to a beautiful community pool and cafe, open Memorial Day- Labor Day.

When you're ready to recharge for tomorrow's adventures, retire to one of three bedrooms, each with brand new pillows and mattresses. Relax with a book or catch an episode of your favorite show on the in-room TV. The Master Suite features a full private bathroom with shower, while the other two bedrooms, each with queen bed, share the full bath down the hall. Each bedroom also has a twin sized rollaway (250lb limit) and a portacrib is available. All bedrooms offer charging bases that accept USB or power blocks for charging your devices, so you'll be able to make all of your plans for tomorrow before you drift off in peaceful mountain bliss.

Check in is at 4pm, check out is by 10am. Early arrival/late checkouts are not guaranteed, and may incur an additional fee.

Great stay for an entire family.
We loved our stay. The separation of kids being able to play downstairs in a GIANT game room while we relaxed or got the smaller baby to sleep upstairs was great. The listing says 2 bathrooms, but there are actually 3. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Close to PF and Gatlinburg, but out of the chaos. The only issue we had the entire stay was figuring out the TV, but with so much to do it wasn’t a big deal. Would stay again!

Great Family Getaway
This cabin was spacious, the game room was a winner for everyone, the convenient location--close to Cades Cove and Pigeon Forge--helped us enjoy a variety of activities, and the porch provided a relaxing spot to sit in rockers and appreciate a great view. We highly recommend this cabin.

Amazing area, amazing property owners
When we pulled up, it was well maintained. The property owners were easy to contact and communicate with. The house was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. We had internet issues (thanks broken outside cables) but the owners were quick to get a tech out here and get things resolved. And for our inconvenience, they even comped another night for us. Unnecessary, but totally amazing of them to offer that. It gave us extra time to be with family that we see only once a year. The place was secluded enough to be very quiet and surrounded by beautifully mountains, but close enough to all the touristy things in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone who’s looking to enjoy the Smoky Mountains and the tourist attractions. Next time we visit the area, will definitely try to book this place again!

About the host

Hosted by Matthew and Meghan Flaska

Host profile image
We are the Flaskas, and we are delighted to call East Tennessee 'home' with our family that includes 4 children, our daughter in law, three sweet grandbabies and dog. While Meghan was born in Chattanooga, Matthew was born a touch farther north...in northern lower Michigan...where we both were raised, and where we started our family. After vacationing in the mountains as a child, Matthew knew his heart would always be in the Smokies. While we planned to make EaTN our retirement home, God had other plans for us and we made the move (or return home) long before that. While Matthew works for a local small business, and Meghan works in hospitality supporting the vibrant tourism economy of the area, the kids enjoy the small town life of Friday Night Lights (Go Vols!), weekend hikes and hanging out with friends.

Why they chose this property

Firefly chose us. We just wanted a place we could use for friends and family when they visited. But on a whim we tool a look at this "sweet little place in the cove" a friend knew had become available. Even on that greyest of winter days, the view from the front porch was all we needed to see to know it was the place for us. Most homes here in the Valley have a name, and like all good names it took time to find the right one. It wasn't out first choice, but it became perfectly clear on a beautiful late spring evening, as hundreds of fireflies lit up the trees and sky, there was only one right name for this little piece of heaven.

What makes this property unique

We know that the very best part of Firefly is the perfect balance of access and solitude. Not too far, not too close, but well positioned. No one wants to spend all of their time trying to get to the next fun thing, but not everyone wants to be in the middle of the action all the time, either. So enjoy being on The Peaceful Side of the Smokies but only 9 miles from the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, all the while knowing you can slip in the 'backdoor' of Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Line Springs Road just a mile away. And no 4WD needed!
