About this property
WEARS VALLEY Getaway ~ 3/3 ~ EZ Access ~ GameRm ~ VIEWS ~ Firepit/Yard ~ Dogs OK
Welcome to Firefly — where mountain mornings begin with misty views and end beside a glowing fire under the stars. Tucked gently into Wears Valley, Firefly isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to reconnect. With its peaceful setting, charming character, and warm, home-like touches, this retreat offers the perfect balance of nature and comfort for those seeking rest, adventure, or a little of both.
As you arrive, you’ll notice what’s missing — no steep climbs, no crowded streets, just a smooth drive that ends in serenity. Firefly greets you like an old friend, perched with a clear view of Cove Mountain and nestled against the quiet of tall trees. Whether you're coming in from a long drive or a day of exploring, it instantly feels like you've arrived somewhere special.
Start your days slow — maybe with coffee on the front porch as the sun lifts over the valley. Inside, the open spaces and cozy touches invite you to unwind: curl up by the seasonal fireplace, read a book as kids laugh downstairs, or linger over dinner and a board game that lasts longer than expected. There’s room to spread out, but it’s the kind of place that brings people together.
Adventure is always just around the corner. You're minutes from secret Smoky Mountain National Park entrance, scenic drives through Cades Cove, and the excitement of Pigeon Forge — yet Firefly feels miles away from the bustle. Spend the day hiking or shopping, then come “home” to s’mores at the firepit or stories on the porch as wildlife begins their evening song.
For some, Firefly is a place to explore. For others, it’s a place to exhale. Whether it’s a family reconnecting over games in the entertainment room, a couple escaping to the mountains, or friends gathering for long-overdue laughs, this retreat adapts to your pace and your purpose.
In every season, Firefly offers a front-row seat to the beauty of the Smokies and the moments that matter. Come for the mountains. Stay for the memories.

⁂ KITCHEN & DINING
The bright, comfy kitchen is fully equipped with updated appliances, cookware, bakeware, utensils, and a variety of small appliances including an Instant Pot, blender, toaster, and hand mixer. The coffee station with Keurig, drip, and French press options has its own open corner so that it remains accessible and doesn’t interfere with meal prep. A full-size refrigerator and dishwasher make meals and cleanup easy. Just steps away, the adjoining dining area features a large table with seating for 10, perfect for family meals or game nights.
⁂ PARKING & GUEST ACCESS
‣ Easy, gentle access any time of year
‣ Paved roads and driveway (no steep, treacherous mountain roads or confusing navigation through twists and turns and changing road names)
‣ Upper parking area: at the back of the house near the rear entrance with keyless smart-lock
‣ Large secondary parking area: just outside the lower level game room (this is the first area visible on your way up the driveway)
‣ The smart-lock is programmed with your guest code and is active in coordination with your reservation and the established check-in/check-out times
‣ Trailers - If you have a trailer and have questions regarding size, parking or anything else, please message us. We would be happy to connect with you (we are travelers, too, and are familiar with various trailer types large and small).
⁂ ENTERTAINMENT ROOM
The gem of the lower level is “Grandpa's Garage”, a nostalgic nod to the rich automotive history in our own families as well as a nod to the many car enthusiasts who love to explore this beautiful area.
‣ Power reclining sofa and love seats
‣ 65” smart TV
‣ 4-top bar-height table for snacks, games, cards, or just good ol’ conversation
‣ Games: ping-pong, foosball and Pop-A-Shot dual shot basketball arcade, selection of puzzles and board games for all ages, giant Connect Four, Yard Yahtzee, cornhole and jumbo Jenga.
⁂ OUTDOOR SPACE
The BBQ grill is found on the rear covered porch just outside the kitchen so that a great meal can be prepared rain or shine. One of the highlights of the property (and often the praise of many reviews) is the front porch that offers rocking chairs and bench seating with a full view of Cove Mountain and the valley below. Another favorite is the beautiful mountain-view bonfire pit circled by Adirondack chairs. And when the kids need to burn some energy, send them to enjoy the 1-acre property and its large, open front yard.
⁂ POOL ACCESS
Guests of Firefly have complimentary access to a beautiful community pool and café, at Honeysuckle Meadows (open May 1 to September 30 as weather permits) as well as the catch and release pond (no license required), all of which is located just off Wears Valley Rd and Happy Hollow Rd, less than a mile from the cabin. Pool towels are provided and located in the hall closet.

About the host
Hosted by Matthew and Meghan Flaska

We are the Flaskas, and we are delighted to call East Tennessee 'home' with our family that includes 4 children, our daughter in law, three sweet grandbabies and dog. While Meghan was born in Chattanooga, Matthew was born a touch farther north...in northern lower Michigan...where we both were raised, and where we started our family. After vacationing in the mountains as a child, Matthew knew his heart would always be in the Smokies. While we planned to make EaTN our retirement home, God had other plans for us and we made the move (or return home) long before that. While Matthew works for a local small business, and Meghan works in hospitality supporting the vibrant tourism economy of the area, the kids enjoy the small town life of Friday Night Lights (Go Vols!), weekend hikes and hanging out with friends.
Why they chose this property
Firefly chose us. We just wanted a place we could use for friends and family when they visited. But on a whim we tool a look at this "sweet little place in the cove" a friend knew had become available. Even on that greyest of winter days, the view from the front porch was all we needed to see to know it was the place for us. Most homes here in the Valley have a name, and like all good names it took time to find the right one. It wasn't out first choice, but it became perfectly clear on a beautiful late spring evening, as hundreds of fireflies lit up the trees and sky, there was only one right name for this little piece of heaven.
What makes this property unique
We know that the very best part of Firefly is the perfect balance of access and solitude. Not too far, not too close, but well positioned. No one wants to spend all of their time trying to get to the next fun thing, but not everyone wants to be in the middle of the action all the time, either. So enjoy being on The Peaceful Side of the Smokies but only 9 miles from the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, all the while knowing you can slip in the 'backdoor' of Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Line Springs Road just a mile away. And no 4WD needed!
