This newly constructed house oozes style and charm in the woods with protected land behind. Central family location for beach walks, hikes through the forest preserve, farmers' markets, bike rides on the new bike lane, blueberry picking, and firepit gatherings. This house is perfect for family vacations and holiday gatherings. There are many restaurants and breweries within a ten-minute drive, and the train station is fifteen minutes away.

Chef's kitchen with Viking range, open floor plan with gorgeous windows and views onto the nature preserve. Multiple outdoor spaces: a huge screened-in porch with dining for 12, firepit, back patio, screened-in shala and deck off the master bedroom, outdoor shower that is open to the sky. One ensuite bedroom on the first floor with a Japanese soaking tub and open rainforest shower; second floor has two huge sunny elegant bedrooms, both with king beds, and a spacious luxury bathroom with a sit-in steam shower. The basement is perfect for a family: one queen bedroom with sliding doors which open onto a tv room with a pull-out full sofa and a full bath. The main space is (25' x 40') a breathtaking open concept kitchen, dining room (seating for 10 inside) and living room with a fireplace, a huge kitchen island where everyone will gather, and multiple seating possibilities for finishing those puzzles, reading books, playing card games, and so on. The laundry/mud room connects to the outdoor shower to wash off sand from the beach - a ten minute walk down Harbert Road! It's quiet, elegant, and a place you'll want to return to again and again.

Summer bliss at the beach

Fabulous property - we walked to one of our favorite bakeries, cooked at home (well equipped and beautiful kitchen, nice grill!), and gorgeous outdoor spaces - our favorite is the screened in porch for breakfast lunch and dinner. Beaches and woodsy walks are beautiful.Sara and Ed are excellent hosts- very attentive. Thanks for a great place!

Great rooms, kitchen, bathrooms and outdoor spaces. We had a great time. Would have really liked a king bed in the downstairs bedroom (the space is big enough) because our kiddo climbed in bed with us…he was scared in basement bedroom… but it was a really beautiful place (nice outdoor eating area and screened in porch).

Simply perfect

This property was not only simple and easy, but I felt it was the most effortless experience Everything is simple and organized with a minimal feel but lacking nothing. Relaxing retreat

Sandy beaches, quiet woods, luxurious accommodations - what more do you need? Ed and Sara were gracious hosts of this beautiful home that has everything we needed for the beach, making meals, hanging out at the fire pit, and keeping the kids entertained. The screened-in porch was large enough for all of us to eat outside. The large bathtub and steam shower made us feel like we were staying in a spa. The beach was a short walk - we enjoyed the water and picturesque sunsets. So happy we booked this place.

Outstanding Harbert Property

Great property that will not disappoint. We have rented multiple properties in SW Michigan and this one was outstanding. Large well designed newer home in a perfect wooded location and only a short walk to Harbert beach. The large great room, screened in porch and nice size bedrooms provide room to spread out. Bottom line….great newer property; comfortable; great location; pricey; should be considered more of a three bedroom as the basement room is a big compromise for anyone drawing the short straw.

Lovely house

Ed and Sara were great communicators before and during our stay. Their home was wonderful for our group of 10 (6 adults and 4 children- ages 2-6). The outdoor covered patios were great component on one of the rainy days. Walking to the beach was a solid, but feasible 15 minutes for our crew. The place was in great condition and had plenty of amenities that we could utilize for cooking, grilling, beach, etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, spacious, and updated nicely. Fantastic Family Memories!

We had family travel to Michigan from various spots across the country to spend a few days together, and this home provided just the right setting for us to be able to have quality time with one another. The living area and screened in porch provided great spaces for us to eat together, play games, drink coffee, etc. We also had a guest in a wheelchair and she was able to navigate around on the ground floor. Everyone was able to sleep comfortably in the 4 bedrooms, and we utilized the pull out couch as well. We were able to get to travel St. Joseph for an evening in just over 20 minutes. We also spent some time in New Buffalo, which took us about 15 minutes. We had a great day at Warren Dunes State Park, which was just down the road. We loved the local coffee spots, bakery, meat market and brewery, all within 5 minutes. We took several walks to the beach and around the neighborhood to enjoy the beautiful sights. It was fun to explore! Sara and Edward were great hosts. They were accessible and made sure we knew we could reach them at any point throughout the stay.

Beautiful home, wonderful owners!

Dear Ed and Sara, We hope this note finds you both in good health and high spirits today! We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible generosity in allowing us to stay at your breathtaking Lake Michigan beach home. Our time there has been nothing short of magical, and we are forever grateful for the cherished memories we created with our children and grandchildren. They have all left now and it is just us too so we have heavy and full hearts but we will buck up and shake it off for the next couple days. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings and these gorgeous woods behind the house. The pristine sandy shores, the fresh lake waters were amazing and we spent endless hours building sandcastles, splashing in the waves, and basking in the sun. These moments were truly precious, and they brought our family closer together in a way that we will never forget. In addition to the incredible natural beauty, we were also deeply touched by the opportunity to reconnect with dear old friends during our stay and be part of Kim Bruns and Doug Nightingale's wedding at Weko beach and pavilion . The long conversations, hearty laughter, and shared experiences added an extra layer of joy to our time at your beach home. It reminded us of the importance of nurturing relationships and how they can be rejuvenated by spending quality time together and playing board games and sharing conversations.

Great family reunion

We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was a bit tucked away but very close to the beach. We enjoyed the screened in porch and the big kitchen and family room space. The owners were so responsive to all of our questions. The kids really all enjoyed being in the basement together. My elder in-laws stayed in the room on the first floor. We wish the two bedrooms upstairs had their own bathroom, but that wasn’t a huge deal. Everything was very well stocked!

Comfortable space to gather with family and friends

We had a nice and comfortable stay to get together with our friends and family. We enjoyed the shaded outdoor spaces for a campfire and the kids to play in the yard. The huge tables were such a treat for our group meals together. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and the beds were cozy. We used the basement for kids sleeping and there were plenty of flexible sleeping options to arrange the kiddos as needed. We had a wonderful time.

Exceeded all expectations

My family vacation with a friend's family lived up to all expectations and exceeded many at this property. Ed and Sara were friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process without being pushy, or over communicative. The house and surrounding property was beautiful and was well stocked with anything you might need in the kitchen. They provided extra beach items (chairs, umbrellas, outdoor shower with hot water, foot wash buckets.) Bathroom and laundry items you may not expect such as a supply of washer detergent, Paper towels, TP, and nice shampoo/conditioner. They supplied firewood for their outdoor or indoor fireplace. The house had great sound systems in most rooms, strong internet, Roku for streaming services, etc. The house was spacious and more soundproof than most rentals we've encountered along with many areas to escape from the hustle and bustle of sharing a vacation house (the upstairs screened in balcony was a particular favorite retreat for any of us that needed a quiet break.) Beyond that we enjoyed the closeness to Harbert Beach (2 streets away!) lots of wildlife seen in the backyard woods (fawns, groundhogs etc) and were 15-30 minutes from the marina to rent a speedboat for tubing, excellent lunch at Ghost Isle Brewery, and the zoo in Michigan City. All in all I'm unsure what could have been done to make this rental an easier process, or a more pleasant stay for our 2 families with younger children.

Lake Michigan Beach Experience

This is a great property just a short walk to the beach! The main room is HUGE and a great place to eat, hang out, play games or just sit and visit. The sunroom is also a great place to hang out early in the mornings with a cup of coffee while you watch the deer. The house was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. We cooked every meal here for eight people and had plenty of room. I highly recommend this property for a large family who wants a great experience at a great beach on Lake Michigan.
