If you’re searching for an off-the-grid, sustainable vacation home to enjoy the Caribbean at its best, look no further. Solar-powered, designed with a local aesthetic, and nestled in an unspoiled beach, this comfortable zen refuge is an escape from the ordinary.

House Isla Blanca is a retreat for those who want to get in touch with nature. The beachfront residence is designed with a local identity, decorated with fine wood and chukum, a special resin obtained from an endemic tree that is used to create stylish finishes, giving the house a sophisticated tropical look.

Two king-size beds and two queens are distributed in three bedrooms, all with beautiful sea-facing balconies. Outdoors, you will find the pool and wide-open spaces that lead to a private beach and the turquoise ocean beyond.

Sustainability is also a key feature of this villa, which gets all its energy from a state-of-the-art solar power system. A rainwater filtering system and a well supply the villa with running water. House Isla Blanca is located in the northernmost part of Cancun, past Playa Mujeres’ new hotels in what has long been a favorite spot for locals to disconnect from the city and get in touch with the landscape.

In villa antigen testing available upon request. (billed separately) There is a 3% villa service charge to be pre-paid at the time of booking

Why they chose this property

Cancun sits at the head of the Riviera Maya like a jewel in a crown, a mature, luxe city that has proven itself well beyond its spring breaker reputation. Its zona hotelera balances along a strip of land on the eastern Caribbean shoreline, flanked by a gorgeous golden sand beach and beyond that, turquoise water melting into the sea. But there’s much beyond that.

How about amazing architecture, upscale clubs and geometric street layouts framing parks and public squares. For lovers of culture and history, there’s the Museo Maya, perfect for days too hot to visit the real deal, and a vibrant art scene. This modern city also plays host to some of Mexico’s most dazzling cuisine -- from gargantuan fresh lobsters to barbacoa (slow cooked meats) and tastes from around the world. You’ll build an appetite after delights on the sea -- Cancun is world-famous for its whale sharks, gentle giants you can swim alongside, as well as all manners of boating, fishing, scuba and snorkeling above its technicolor reef.
