Great Door County getaway! Centrally located for all the amazing sightseeing. Dock & fire pit make it a great place to stay & enjoy Sturgeon Bay also. Quiet place near a state park & restaurants. Brian is welcoming & kind:)
Our stay was very comfortable and a great location to everything! Our host was so helpful sharing places to visit to eat and enjoy. On our list for a return visit for sure!
With our friends, we planned our annual wine weekend. The "Boat House" was a charmingly decorated place to enjoy. The views were amazing during the fall season with the picturesque scenery via amazing windows. THANK YOU!
This was a 3-day stop over before we headed home after being out west for a couple of weeks. The home had lots of items for use in the kitchen and was comfortable. Close to town so easy to visit the area. Wi-Fi was good. A good place to stay.
It was an amazing “boathouse!” We loved everything about it, but especially the dock!!! We spent every morning, and every evening out there!!! Brian is very easy to communicate with! We will stay again! We loved Door County!!
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the boathouse. The views are gorgeous and the house is full of warmth and charm. The location is convenient for exploring any and all that Door County has to offer. We would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the boat house. From the front windows it felt like you were in the water. We enjoyed eating our meals looking out at the water. We got to see the ducks and fishermen going by. Watching the rain dance on the lake. We enjoyed setting out on the deck, having a fire, and just relaxing with a glasses of wine.
I wouldn’t mind living there.
Very peaceful and calming
Brian called before we left home to make sure we had everything for our stay.
We had a girls weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. The house and property, were well maintained and immediately welcoming. The view of the lake was great. We enjoyed two nights of a nice relaxing fire and drinking local wines. We already planning our next trip for next year
Loved, loved, loved this VRBO! I can't say enough good about it. Wonderful place to relax and view the bay. Many options to sit outside with your group. Quiet location that makes you forget that you are in busy door county. Small, but in the best way possible. Plenty of room for 4 people. Waterfront Marys is just down the road for a fun and tasty fish boil!
We weren’t actually at the house very much, but the view was beautiful and house was clean. I didn’t realize we needed our own sheets until I was reading on our way up so thank goodness Target was close! Would definitely recommend!
Cute relaxing house right on the water. Close to town yet tucked away and remote. Nice patio to sit and watch the geese, seagulls pelicans and others. Only glitch would be internet was unable to connect wifi and cell service was limited.
Our family of three stayed here for a couple of nights while exploring Door County and had a lovely time! After our first evening here, our six year old exclaimed "this is the house of my dreams". It's situated right over the water, which is lovely in its own right, and also the furniture was comfortable and the decor is quirky and fun. When booking the boathouse, we didn't anticipate spending a lot of time in the boathouse, but the weather had other plans for us, and we spent a peaceful evening indoors playing games, catching a movie, and just watching the various water fowl out on the water. The owner was very communicative and helpful, reaching out to us to let us know about some area flooding due to the historic rainfalls that had come through the day(s) before we got there. The owner also recommended some places to eat and things to check out, and nothing from the list disappointed! It was a lovely time all around, and we'd love to be back there
This property is wonderful! The sunrises are absolutely gorgeous!! And campfires a couple feet from the water can’t be beat!
We played games, watched movies, and relaxed with an incredible view of the water and the sound of the waves lapping at the shore. The house has Alexa so you can listen to any song your heart desires. Also, their tv has Netflix and other apps so you can watch movies or tv shows in the evening. It’s cozy and relaxing and everything we could have asked for and more!
The owner is so incredibly nice and goes out of the way to ensure your stay is pleasant and you have everything you need.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat! 12/10 would recommend!
Our stay at this precious boathouse was truly perfect. From the moment I started communicating with the owner, I knew we had made a wonderful choice. We were made to feel welcome and were given all kinds of wonderful recommendations of sights to see & places to eat. Once we ladies stepped into the home we felt as if we truly were directly on the water as we were surrounded by the beautiful tranquility of the lake, the pelicans floating by & the gorgeous trees. The cottage was decorated so warm & cozy with every possible thing you could need to cook, relax and enjoy every moment just as we did. We loved all the the outdoor seating options to take in the fresh air & shoot the most fabulous photos during sunset. The balcony was the loveliest spot to sip our morning coffee and listen to the birds sing. The beds were very comfy & when i opened my window I was soothed by the sounds of the water crashing along the rocks.
We felt very comfortable & at home while there and loved it so much that instead of dining out for dinner we chose to grill steaks & savor the serenity of the boathouse. We played games & shared many laughs making memories that will last a lifetime. We would definitely come back to this little piece of paradise again♥️
We could not have asked for a better place for two 50 year old girlfriends to do a "husband-less" few days of shopping, bonding and wine drinking. The pictures simply do not do this place justice - it is ON the water (literally abuts the water!) and is about one mile from central city (maybe a tad more?) Simply a great place to stay. This was an odd vacation as we came to Sturgeon Bay during Covid. Thus, more time at our rental, less time at restaurants and simply a really bizarre period in history. With that being said.....
THE PROS:
- The House: It is a 2 br, 1 bath "boathouse" - that is a living quarters built on top of a boathouse. The water level on the Lake is high, so there is no dock. There is a GREAT patio with a concrete fire pit, patio furniture and room for movement. The house is VERY CLEAN and has solid surface floors (nothing worse than nappy carpet in a VRBO). You could tell that the owner takes pride in people being happy. Undoubtedly spider sprayed on a regular basis as we did not see one spider which is unusual for a lake home (we live on a lake, so trust me when I say this)
- The Owner: Brian was very communicative and ensured we knew everything about the house. Since we stayed during Covid, he took extra precautions in cleaning to ensure we felt comfortable. I could not be happier with the host.
- The Location: On the water, walking distance to a bar/restaurant and a very short hop (1-2 miles) to the center city. By the entrance to Potowatomi State Park, 30 mins to Fish Creek.
- Amenities: The fire pit, house was stocked with EVERYTHING you could need (including Alexa for music and GLASS wine glasses). Bring your own sheets and towels. The kitchen is well equipped so you will not need much.
THE CONS:
I really have nothing. It is in a residential area, so if you are looking for loud, wild night time parties, this is probably not your place. It is also decorated eclectically (which was adorable) - so if you are looking for he Ritz, stay at a hotel.
If you want a VERY clean, comfortable, well equipped place to call home during your stay, this is the place. We will be back next summer - Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us!!!
