The vineyards are some of the best in the US and similar to southern France. Arizona. Vineyards is a popular roadside attraction in Nogales on the way to Mexico. Located less than one hour from the resort, the wines are unique and have classic Southwestern names such as Rattlesnake Red, Desert Dust and Coyote Red.
Callaghan Vineyards
About an hour south of Tucson, the Callaghan Vineyards have been producing award-winning wines for over fifteen years. Owner Kent Callaghan aptly named his 17-acre vineyard “Buena Suerte” (or “Good Luck” in Spanish) and has won many kudos for his fine wines, including the highly-praised 1996 Fumé Blanc. The winery is open

Sonoita Vineyards
Another winery near Mr. Callaghan’s establishment is the Sonoita Vineyards. Co-owner Dr. Gordon Dutt was a soil scientist at the University of Arizona when he and A. Blake Brophy established their first experimental vineyard in 1973. They found that the high altitude (5,000 feet) soil is nearly identical to the soils of Burgundy, France. The 20-acre vineyard now produces over 10,000 gallons per year. Their 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon had the distinction of being served at the White House.

Keywords: Golf, Birdwatching, Cycling, Hiking, 3 bedroom, fenced yard, dog welcome, HBO & Showtime. If you are a Silver Sneaker's member, there are 3 different nearby locations that you can visit. One has a year around heated pool. The Anza Trail can be traveled nearby and this is an old Spanish trail north.
The wild life is delightful. There were over 95 birds identified by birders who came in April 2014. There is a complete list in my traveler's book.
Don't forget to visit the Tubac chamber on NE side of Tubac as it has extra things that come up weekly.
Bring you hiking shoes and your sense of adventure and go on the de Anza trail commencing on Palo Parado Trail recently improved by the state. Venture west off the trail just a little and see the Santa Cruz River miandering along side the train where Juan Baptista and Fr Keno stopped to rest and let their horses drink the water and refresh. themselves. It is very relaxing and great for seeing birds and taking pictures.
At the end of April, the park is going to lead people through a four miles hike along the de Anza Trail and provide a bus for those who don't want to hike both ways. It's pretty level and you will get the feel of how it would be for Juan Baptista (Spanish explorer) and Fr Keno using this trail years ago. Bring your camera and good closed toed shoes.
Just a Note: We have a Tubac Fire Dept Ambulance with IEMTs, portable EKGs and a Medical Air Vac Helicopter two miles away. When I called them their ambulance came out and they were warming up the copter just in case I had to be air lifted. That's superior service and they connect you by 911.
I have a medical alert system and it went off while I was working and they came out to see if I was OK.
Holy Cross in Nogales is the best equipped hospital nearby, but Santa Cruz Regional is just getting more advanced things. Doctors are always available at Holy Cross and St Mary's in Tucson along with six other fine hospitals. Holy Cross reads X-rays and other scans by emailing it to a specialist and get immediate feedback from a radiologist.
We also have dialysis center here too.

Why they chose this property
I built this home originally for myself, but since it only has only a 2 car garage, I decided on building another one that has a 3 car garage. I live in this same area as I enjoy star gazing and bird watching and walking in the wilderness. It is close to Madera Canyon where there are pine trees. The evenings always have a nice, gentle breeze and you can look forward to sunny, pristine skies that are some common in Arizona. I love the birdwatching from almost every window in the house.
What makes this property unique
If you like to see the stars that are visible from the dark, clear skies of this area, this is the area for you. There are also a lot of wild life in the area and there is the faint sound of an occasional train in the valley below. The Tumaccari Mountains and Elephant Rock can been seen from this location and the sunsets and sunrises are superior.
