Perfect for our family
This property was perfect for our family. We came to Oak Harbour to visit our son stationed at NAS Whidbey. The home was clean, quiet, and roomy.

Beautiful setting in a very dated home.
When we arrived, I was a bit grossed out by the amount of dirt and dust everywhere. It was dark and hard to see beyond the interior. The home was dated and the furniture warm. I was a little confused how the reviews were decent. When we woke up and looked out the rear windows of the house at the bay and beautiful Baker, we understood. It was a wonderful view. Certain things mentioned in the amenities section were not present, however. The only thing resembling a trail to the beach was washed out and completely overrun with berry vines with thick, sharp thorns. There was only 1 wireless phone charger next to the bed in the master bedroom, not 1 in every room as was stated. Ample amount of towels, dishes, pans, etc, but very few extra blankets to be found. There was a broken drawer in the bathroom that constantly fell and was in the way of coming and going in the bathroom and closing the door. Also, on night 2, one of the CO2 detectors had a low battery alarm that beeped loudly every minute. Due to there being so many different things plugged into multiple outlets and a smoke detector that could not be reached, it took a while for the offender to be found and silenced. Lastly, the staircase needs to come with a warning. My wife slipped on the stairs and ended up being injured. Adding traction to them would be prudent. Bring matches if you want a fire, because there was none to be found anywhere.

Beautiful Location But Home Has Major Shortcomings!
We are 3 couples in their 70's. House looked perfect for us (3 bedrooms and 3 fully functional bathrooms (one downstairs). Beautiful view & very spacious. Potential of home is far from realized due to numerous issues, some large and many annoying inadequacies. The largest issue was that the downstairs toilet was out of service for our entire stay & repeated attempts to get Vacasa to fix it were ignored! Vacasa's response was we referred it to "local management" who never contacted us or sent repairman. Note: We learned from reviews that the toilet had been out of order since April '23 & rather than fix it Vacasa posted a sign on the broken toilet saying broken...sorry for inconvenience. Negligent Misrepresentation of property (3 full bathrooms??) Some of us have mobility issues & had we known the downstairs toilet was broken (leaving only upstairs bathroom) we would have never booked this property! Other issues with the house were: - Inadequate seating for 6 in the family room & kitchen; - No closet or storage for clothes/luggage in one bedroom; - No mirrors in two bedrooms, not enough hangars or kitchen utensils; - Broken toilet seat in Master Bedroom; - No welcome packet to guide visitors re appliances, etc. We have stayed in several VRBO properties and have never had a management company so blatantly fail to give answers or even a local person to contact. BEWARE about Vacasa managed properties!!! They're the worst we've encountered with VRBO.

This is the first time I have written a review about a VRBO we have stayed at over the years because I was so disappointed. To begin with, there was nothing welcoming upon arrival and no guest book, only a notice indicating to leave by 10:00 am. Absolutely nothing was available for convenience like salt & pepper, or other spices. It was completely barren of things that most people leave behind after having to go to grocery store. This house needs so much TLC. The place was clean but seemed somewhat worn. Tax records indicated it was built in 1990. Carpets appeared to be original and were spotty here and there. Wooden entry flooring and stairs were scuffed and worn. All 10 dining chairs had loose slip covers on them. I knew about the lack of window shades but wasn't that unhappy about it until one morning at 4:10 am when woken by sun in my face (longest days in June). Some shade hardware was in place in the master bedroom, but no shades except one narrow one that wouldn't roll properly. The 1st floor toilet leaked while we were there and the handyman could not fix it, so had to turn it off so as not to fill the drain field. We had to climb stairs to go to the bathroom for 3 days. The slightly circular stairs were a bit slippery (known) but could be easily fixed with non-slip tread or carpeting. And there was no handrail on the wall side where the steps were wider. In the back yard, the bench facing the water was covered in lichens that needs to be sanded off.

Horrible condition
The house was filthy - Dead flies in rooms on carpeting. Stained carpets particularly a very large urine stain in main bedroom. Pink mold in upstairs guest bathroom. Toilets smelled bad and are very dirty. Green moss on patio furniture. Couches in family room had dried spills all over arm rests. We did a lot of cleaning when we arrived. Side note* Broken toilet on main floor making it necessary to go upstairs to use the toilet. Hard for one of us with mobility issues. Mattresses have dips in the center of them making it hard to be in either side. Upstairs tub does not drain when showering you stand in dirty water. So gross. Very disappointing.
