About this property

Stunning apartment in Genova (GE)

Elegant holiday apartment in la Superba, the most exclusive district of the port city of Genoa, between historic patrician houses and large green spaces, just a few steps from the beach promenade of Corso Italia and the characteristic seafaring district of Boccadasse with its pastel-coloured houses and narrow streets. Classic furnishings with some antique pieces of furniture from old transatlantic ships. The apartment consists of a large entrance hall, double living room, dining room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms, a games room with sofa bed, 2 marble bathrooms and a small fitness room. The 3 double bedrooms can be converted into twin rooms on request at the time of booking. A long balcony extends around the entire perimeter of the apartment. Nearby is a sports complex with indoor and outdoor pools, roller skating rink and tennis courts. The centre of Genoa is easily accessible by public transport. Genoa has one of the largest and best preserved historical centres in Europe: 18 km of medieval city walls, an intricate labyrinth of narrow streets, several small and characteristic squares, rich in churches, old buildings with splendid paintings, historical palaces. The old harbour is home to the second largest aquarium in Europe, the Maritime Museum and the Bigo panoramic lift by Renzo Piano. The equipped beaches, restaurants, bars and nightclubs are not far away. Genoa organises many cultural events and shows throughout the year. The hinterland offers several hiking trails, mountain bike routes and trekking tours with horses. Boat trips such as whale watching in the Ligurian Sea or to explore the picturesque fishing villages of Camogli (famous fish festival), the fashionable Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino with the marine reserve, San Fruttuoso with the statue of Christ on the seabed or the Cinque Terre area, UNESCO World Heritage Site. 13 km from the airport. 22 km Recco where a large and spectacular fireworks competition takes place in the first week of September, 25 km the medieval castle of Dragonara, 32 km the charming village of Arenzano. The following additional services are available on request and for a fee: family excursions with tastings in Genoa, excursions to the Cinque Terre, to the Riviera di Levante, to Portofino and San Fruttuoso, urban trekking in Genoa or naturalistic excursions to the Cinque Terre and Portofino, excursions to Noli and Finalborgo, horse riding excursions, boat trips, food personal shopper, private transfers, motorboat and inflatable boat hire, car hire or private driver. Additional services at the holiday property: cooking lessons, tasting of typical products (wine, olive oil, focaccia, pesto, etc.), babysitting, children's entertainment, dog-sitting, organisation of events and birthdays, Italian language courses, tasting lessons. We recommend early booking.

Hidden charges and substandard facilities

The flat is well located on the Via Albaro, out of the city centre in a nice area with good access to Bocadessa and Nervi. You have to catch two buses to get in and out of the town centre so if you plan on being in central Genova a lot have a think about that. The flat itself is well sized and should be awesome. But it it isn't. Partially because things don't work for example, the fridge isn't plumbed in, the light fitting in the bathroom hangs free, the Wifi was non existent, the fridge door handle was snapped off and left on the side and when we reported it - immediately - the agent blamed us for doing it, the kitchen table is covered in cigarette burns and only one of the two showers had hot water. And then the hidden charges for 'cleaning'. Cleaning what I don't know, the massive yellow stain round the toilet suggested cursory cleaning at best. Then more euro for bed sheets (then you get to make up your own bed) then more euro for towels, then more euro for tourist tax. Avoid this place, it's a disappointment.
